What this episode covers
What a week of hockey news! The Las Vegas TBNL's will officially start play in 2017-18. Andy and Jon look at the varying facets of what a 31st NHL franchise will mean to the league and explore the various challenges they might have to overcome to be successful in the desert. Surprisingly, an analysis of USA Hockey membership statistics over the past 25 years provides great insight into potential grassroots development in the area. Also: the NHL awards were held in Las Vegas on the same day as the expansion announcement. What a coincidence! The guys recap who to home the hardware and Jon bemoans Patrick Marleau being snubbed yet again from capturing the Lady Byng Trophy. Lastly, the guys take a look back at the signings and trades of the past week and speculate what might be in store during the entry draft tonight and Free Agent Frenzy next week. Also, thanks to the continued support of Bay Area Hockey Repair (www.bayareahockeyrepair.com).
