59 Off The Grid

from Xponential Intelligence with Masati · host Masati

I have returned from a journey to the Amazon Rainforest in Peru that has taught me much about who I am and the power of being present that I want to share with you. In this podcast I will share the lessons I learned during my time in the jungle, including the value of disconnecting from technology and facing your fears head-on. In this episode, I talk about the humbling, beautiful experience I had during three weeks in the deep jungle with my sons Alex and Zak serving the indigenous people of Peru. We traveled to an area that few outsiders have ever seen, and served the Peruvian people by building water wells in partnership with esteemed charity Rainforest Flow. This organization is dedicated to empowering indigenous communities through many grassroots projects include providing them with the education and tools needed to access fresh water. Health problems caused by unsanitary water and lack of health education are a major cause of illness and death for these native communities. Constructing water wells is essential because it brings fresh drinking water to these rural people so they can live healthy lives while preserving their cultural heritage. I open up about the fears I experienced as we traveled for days into the wilderness and I faced the potential dangers of the jungle. I share what I learned about myself as I faced these insecurities and weaknesses, and how dealing with what makes you feel weak can actually make you much stronger than you have ever been. I also address the irony of how I actually felt less safe returning to "civilization" after I heard about the mass shootings that occurred in the United States while I was out of the country. I describe the beauty and grace I saw in the society of the native people, including how we met Yoina, a young girl who was recently featured in National Geographic Magazine. I learned that their society has very little strife or violence, and no crime. I thought I had come to educate these people, and instead they taught me how it is possible to be a sophisticated, peaceful community without the technology we depend on here at home. I discuss the dangers of getting addicted to technology, including how it can distort time and pull you out of the present moment. When I first entered the jungle it was initially very intimidating to not have access to my phone or any modern communication, but gradually I came to realize that with that this disconnection made me much more present and centered. 13 Peruvian Nights is a series of daily silent meditations I recorded in the jungle to immerse listeners in the rainforest frequencies. We talk about the many benefits to going "off the grid" and occasionally disconnecting from technology, and how to harness the power of your devices without letting them take control of your life. I firmly believe that spending too much time in front of a screen can keep you from engaging in deep inner thought. I let you in on how I manage my own technology use, and the family rules I have in place to ensure my kids and I all connect with each other without our phones getting in the way. We end with a customized Medihealing®, a powerful meditation and healing in one, where I immerse you in frequencies to bring you into the depths of the jungle where you will disconnect from the distractions that separate you from your higher self. Once you lose touch with technology and look within, you have the power and presence to turn your weaknesses into strengths and live a life of total abundance.
