59. Transform Your Cleaning Routine, Non-toxic Solutions that Work

from The Farm Family Table⏐Homesteading, Homemaking, Christian Mom · host Jocelyn Jennings

Do you know what the most toxic part of your home is? When was the last time you checked under your bathroom sink? When you start to look into the ingredients in our everyday mainstream cleaning products, it can be downright scary, but switching to non-toxic solutions doesn’t have to be stressful, expensive, or complicated. Today, I want to share the natural  cleaning solutions that work well for our family. If you are totally new to switching to more natural products or if you’ve tried before, but have been frustrated because you feel like they just don’t work as well, I am excited to share some of the solutions that I have learned over the years, and help you tackle this journey towards a healthier home without the overwhelm.   I hope this episode helps you rethink your cleaning routine and make the switch to more non-toxic options in your home. I pray that God would help you not to be stressed or overwhelmed as you go through this process. As Christians, we are called to not be ruled by a spirit of fear. It can be so easy to be fearful of the chemicals that might be lurking in our everyday environment and the impact that can have on ourselves and our children. But we know that God is in charge of our health, our bodies, and I pray that you would trust him as you dive into this process and make gradual changes. Thank you so much for joining me!   Resources mentioned in today's episode: → My Cleaning Routine: General spray for surfaces, spills, mirrors: 50/50 vinegar and water Concentrated shower/bathroom cleaner: ¾ C Sal Suds, ¾ C vinegar, 15 drops tea tree oil - pour onto wet sponge, do not spray Toilet cleaner: ½-1 C cleaning vinegar (6% acetic acid) and hydrogen peroxide spray Natural disinfectant: 3% hydrogen peroxide; for general household use and for more delicate surfaces like wood, use 50/50 hydrogen peroxide and water Homemade dish soap Favorite non-toxic products: Seventh Generation Dishwasher Detergent Powder Fragrance Free, Seventh Generation Rinse Aid Free and Clear, ECOS Liquid Dish Soap Free & Clear, ECOS Hand Soap Free & Clear, Seventh Generation Ultra Liquid Laundry Detergent Fragrance Free or Country Save Laundry Detergent Powder → EWG Database → Long term study on cleaning supplies and lung function   Our Sponsor: Inherit Clothing Company - find modest, fashionable clothes designed with Christian values Go to inheritco.com/FARMFED Use code: FARMFED for 10% off your order   Join the free Farm Family Community Free recipes, gardening tips, food preservation tutorials, and more!
