5BY5 Ep. 25 with Eugen Freund

*** This episode was recorded virtually using Zoom while respecting the call for social distancing to combat the coronavirus outbreak. We hope you enjoy the show as a respite from whatever this global health crisis is forcing you to deal with. We will continue to record and publish the show as long as we are able. *** Jason and Diggs virtually welcome Eugen Freund, a retired journalist/newscaster and former politician from Austria (and our first international guest), to this episode of The Candy Factory 5BY5 Podcast! We chat for five minutes about five random topics that are presented to us by our good friend, Frank (aka Jason’s iPad). We’re constantly adding new topics to the list, if you have any suggestions, let us know! Sometimes serious, sometimes witty, and sometimes even entertaining(!), nobody knows where the conversation will go until it unfolds in the moment. TOPICS: Hiking Moving (to a new place to live) Which would you erase forever: bee stings, mosquito bites, or poison ivy? Rain Best movie trilogies HERE ARE SOME LINKS WE THOUGHT WOULD BE GOOD TO SHARE: Eugen Freund Ranulph Fiennes Maps.Me Chernobyl nuclear accident Book trilogies: His Dark Materials; Millennium (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) Eugen’s pictures of lightning striking the World Trade Center (images property of Eugen Freund): CORRECTIONS: Upon review, witch hazel was not the name of the plant that Diggs needed to look out for during his trips down South – unfortunately, he couldn’t figure out the name before the release of the podcast. IN MEMORIAM: The cat heard towards the end of the third topic had to be put down between the show’s recording and release. Her name was Nemo. The Candy Factory 5BY5 Podcast is produced by Jason Mundok and Robert Diggs at The Candy Factory. Editing and additional production provided by Anna Tran. Music composed and recorded by (a really cool guy named) Jon Chinn (BKLYN). Email [email protected] if you have comments, questions, or feedback about the show. We’d love to hear from you!
