In South Africa, marriage rates are on the decline, with the percentage of legally married individuals dropping from 35.6% in 1996 to 23.8% in 2022, according to Stats SA. Simultaneously, the proportion of people who have never married has increased from 52.8% to 61.7%. This trend reflects changing social dynamics and a shift towards later marriages and cohabitation The global marriage rate is approximately 6.5 marriages per 1,000 people.  What has put off the idea of Marriage ?
