WORLD PRISONER DAY – 10 AUG Origins:Prisoner's Justice Day originated in Canada in 1974, following the death of aprisoner in segregation at Millhaven Institution.  Purpose:The day is dedicated to remembering those who have died in prison and toadvocating for changes to the prison system.  Focus:The day highlights the need for better prison conditions, including access tohealthcare, mental health support, and protection from violence.  Advocacy:It's a day to call for an end to violence and neglect in prisons and to promoterehabilitation and restorative justice. INTERVIEW WITH CRIMINAL ATTORNEY –MATLHATSI MADIRA -
