Freedom Day, Cynthia Shange, South Africa's first Black woman to represent the country at Miss World in 1972, has passed away at the age of 76. She made history during apartheid, breaking barriers on the global stage and paving the way for generations of Black South African women in pageantry, film, and television  Today, we honour South Africans like these that contributed to the Freedom we have today.
