There was an attempt to remove a 40 foot cross that has stood, on public land, since 1925 and was erected to honor 49 men from Prince George's County Maryland. In a 7-2 decision the Supreme Court of the United States as said that the cross, known as "the Peace Cross", does not violate the Establishment Clause and may remian in place. The year 1984 has come and gone.
