New York prosecutors have charged Luigi Mangione with murder over the assassination of United He is believed to be our person of interest in the brazen, targeted murder of Brian Thompson. Thompson was shot and killed last week, but the gunman fled, starting a five-day manhunt that ended when police got a tip and arrested 26-year-old Mangione at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania. Responding officers questioned the suspect, who was acting suspiciously, and was carrying multiple fraudulent IDs as well as a US passport. Upon further investigation, officers recovered a firearm on his person, as well as a suppressor, both consistent with the weapon used in the murder.
Officers also found a handwritten note that's been described as Mangione's manifesto. An official says it included lines like, quote, "'These parasites had it coming, and I apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done. It didn't mention Thompson specifically. CNN hasn't been able to find out yet who is acting as Mangione's attorney.'" As people in Syria look towards their new future, the changes are having a wider impact in the region.
Iran is urging the UN Security Council to respond, as Israel expands its occupation near its border with Syria and launched attacks inside the country. Earlier, Israel said it struck Syria's chemical weapons capabilities, and had ordered the creation of a so-called security zone inside Syrian territory. The UN says the move reaches a 1974 agreement. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his country is protecting its security.
"...and do not destroy him." "...and the state of Israel is establishing its position as a center of power in our region, as it has not been for decades. Those who cooperate with us will benefit greatly. Those who attack us will lose aid." After decades of activists calling for it, the EPA has banned the use of two cancer-causing chemicals found in homes and workplaces. DCE is common in manufacturing, and can be found in water sources or properties around the world, while PCE is a solvent used in industries like dry cleaning, manufacturing, and car repairs.
An EPA official said it was, quote, "...unacceptable to keep letting people use the cancer-causing chemicals when there are safer alternatives." A court ruling means Rupert Murdoch isn't allowed to change his family trust to hand over control of his media companies to his son, Blacklan. As it stands, the trust gives Rupert Murdoch's four eldest children equal voting shares when he dies. But he wanted to change that, to give Blacklan all the power. The other Murdoch children fought against that.

He also went after the Blacklan and Watkins representatives saying that they demonstrated a dishonesty of purpose and motive in abetting their plan. Rupert Murdoch is expected to appeal.
Families say an AI chatbot encouraged self-harm and violence. More on that next. Two families are suing an AI chatbot company, accusing it of providing sexual content to their children, as well as encouraging self-harm and violence. The lawsuit against Character AI asks a court to shut down the platform until the alleged dangers can be fixed.
In one example, it says that a bot's implied to a teen user that he could kill his parents for limiting his screen time. As a spokesperson for Character AI, said the company does not comment on pending litigation. But their quote, "...goal is to provide a space that is both engaging and safe for our community."
