6. James: Faith That's Not Dead - Has Pure Motives

This weekend we continue in our series called "FAITH THAT ISN'T DEAD". This series is a study in the book of James. We have worked our way to chapter 3 of James which focuses on leadership in the church. This week the topic centers around the essential nature of wisdom over just knowledge. Knowledge gives us power and in the world, will help us advance to leadership positions. In the church leaders must have wisdom. Wisdom is the application and use of knowledge with godly character. Jesus established the church to be a place where the influence of Jesus is seen in the lives of His people. This demands the application of the truth into our lives and this is what James is pressing on us in our passage for this week. The motives that help us advance in the world must not be the motives of people in the church. Selfishness leads to wicked sinful behavior and so this week we learn to be motivated by the character traits Jesus teaches us to live by. Our churches must resist the culture of the world around us and instead implement the culture Jesus creates.
