Dit is het verhaal van Keyvan Shahbazi, die als zeventienjarige werd opgepakt en gemarteld door de Iraanse Revolutionaire Garde. Een elitekorps dat als doel heeft de islamitische republiek te beschermen en daar heel ver in gaat. Het lukte Keyvan te ontsnappen aan de martelingen en naar Nederland te vluchten. Veertig jaar later ziet hij zijn voornaamste folteraar terug op televisie, als president van zijn geboorteland Iran. De afgelopen maanden gingen duizenden Iraniërs de straat op om te protesteren tegen het streng-islamitische regime in hun land. De protesten worden bloedig neergeslagen door de Garde, die gericht op de ogen van demonstranten zou schieten.
