6. Understanding The Impact Our Past Has On Our Present Lives - Going Back to Go Forward.

from Thriving Kingdom Marriage | Healthy Communication, Conflict Resolution, Intimacy, Godly Counseling · host Nick + Haley Teixeira | Christian Marriage, Dating Mentors, Relationship Coaches

While we are affected by powerful external events and circumstances through our earthly lives, our families of origin affect us the most! We often underestimate the deep unconscious imprint our family of origin leaves us. Behaviors, beliefs, & thinking patterns. The cost of ignoring the impact of our past on our present life is costly. We pay the price for the past generational patterns. We relive the life of our parents unless we consciously choose to do something completely different (align with God’s truth) Ex. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob: Lying pattern, favoritism by one parent, brothers cut off from one another, poor intimacy in marriages, etc. These family patterns are hardwired into our brains. Apart from God’s intervention himself we bring these expectations into our closest relationships as adults. Sanctification demands that we go back in order to break free from unhealthy & destructive patterns that prevent us from loving ourselves & others as God designed. "To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,  and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness." -Ephesians 4:22-24  - Would you like to be mentored by us?
