#60 - "Next Steps: Be TRANSFORMED" (Dr. Shaw & Wife)

1st Corinthians 10:31 says "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do all to the glory of God." Dr. Shaw announces the completion of his " Magnum Opus." A video and digital program for addiction, entitled Next Steps: Be TRANSFORMED. He begins by giving glory to God and thanking the team of people from TAC and the location and leadership of Grace Fellowship Church. A curriculum consists of 12 units using the acronym  Be TRANSFORMED. The first lesson is identity and teaches man's way and God's way. Who are you? Who's your creator? Addiction-- what is it? Why is this important? The stages of transformation. You can't transform your own heart. This program is useless if the Holy Spirit doesn't transform the heart. And the glory will be to God no matter who uses this program. T is for truth in love. Ephesians 4 15-16 says, "Rather, speaking the truth and love we are to grow up in every way to he who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped when each part is working properly makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love." The importance of biblical truth and we can't all pick our own truth. God's truth is the truth we need to embrace. John 1:14 Jesus was 100% Grace and 100% truth. R is for repentance. Addiction requires repentance because it's viewed as our desires being sinful ones that miss the mark. Turn away from sin to Jesus Christ.  There are be transformed truths at the end of each unit. A is for assurance of pardon. The bad news is that the heart desires are sinful but the good news is you can be forgiven! How does God forgive you? How does God forgive other people? How to be like Christ? How do you forgive? Granting forgiveness to others. Ephesians 2:8-10.  "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith and this is not your own doing, not a result of works so, no one may boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." Unit 5 N is for the newness of life. Continuing to grow daily and needing repentance in our lives and all the resources God has given us.  Unit 6 is s for sanctification. The work of the Holy Spirit working in the hearts of those doing the program (the participants.) unit 7 is f fruit-producing. This is about godliness talking about pride and humility and Temptation.  Unit 8 ...  is O...others-focused. Unit 9 is R for responsibility. M is for maturity. Which is cultivating a heart of gratitude. E is for exemplifying Christ being humble being submissive. D is for disciple-making, be a disciple and be a disciple-maker and being purposeful to help other people. This program is an expansion launching out from the resources Understanding Temptation: The War Within Your Heart. Relapse: Biblical Prevention Strategies workbook. The Heart of Addiction. Cross-Talking:  A Daily Gospel for Transforming Addicts.
