60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday: Shout Out for Nurses!

Hello to you listening in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Time Out Tuesday and your host, Diane Wyzga.As many of you know I served as a US Navy nurse taking care of children in medical and surgical pediatric hospital wards. All these years later that time holds some of my very fondest memories.Recently we noted the 5-year anniversary of the COVID epidemic when nurses all over the world put themselves on the line for the patients that came under their care.Did you know that nurses take an oath, too? It’s called the Nightingale Pledge from 1893. Over time it has evolved but the spirit of the original pledge is still the same:  “I solemnly pledge myself to the service of humanity and will endeavour to practise my profession with conscience and with dignity. I will maintain, by all the means in my power, the honour and noble tradition of my profession.
