Thanks for tuning into Toby's What's Radio, issue number 16. We've got another versus Matt edition this time. So between two 90s heavy hitting franchises, we've got Adam's family, pucks, he's scavenging him versus tiny tunes is buster, bust loose. Big back between these two.
Yeah, I don't think this might be about to be honest though. Again, we've chosen ourselves two games, which are terrible and potentially I enjoyed one of them more, but reminiscing about it. I still think it's shit. We've gone down the same move again, but I mean, I've been to begin right now from the two of them.
I would say I prefer tiny tune adventures, but I think that's based on the fact that I completed tiny tune adventures. I've never pleaded pugly. So as I do, I like to play the game the week leading to the podcast. I like to play both of the games, try and complete them.
I'm just going to put out that I wasn't invested this week just because of the history of gotten, you know, as a view with plock, you know, and claymates. There's proper history there where obviously I played these games around your house and I think I probably borrowed puglies for six months, maybe from you probably borrowed tiny tunes for maybe three weeks, you know, Abby might want to back. But anyway, so I played in this week. There was one there's one game that I think I really, you know, I like more as a classic platform again.
And the other one was a bit too I'd know just it didn't it didn't flop like I thought it did back in the day. It's funny playing again. It's like that there's one that I thought I really liked. And now I'm not too sure if I'm actually that into it.
I'm not going to declare yet. You probably know. You obviously saw the screenshots I sent you the other day. Yeah, I think I think I can get but I think I'm puglies the thing with puglies again, it's just made it too hard and there's nothing they've not heard of anything enjoyable in it either.
And it's got an irritating thing I hate is the same as I hate on Roadrunner is when you when you turn or stop it does that screech and he's going a little bit. That's probably why I like it though. You see because I like my speech in a road runner. But did you know this in puglies?
I'm just going to put out you mate. So if you use the trigger buttons, which again, for a game from 1992 and 1993, you know, Mario they weren't they weren't really using the trigger butts in Mario, where you didn't need to use them. Pugsley, if you hold down the trigger button, he kind of lifts us up or you like his heel or something about certain bad guys walk into him like those rolling eyeballs that kills him just by him just lean his ass towards him. Did you know that?
I didn't see that I didn't know that back then if I don't know that then I probably would have enjoyed that a lot more. I might have to revisit it now. It's a game changer. It is a game changer.
I will let you know. Obviously I got heat banking a lot of shit last time for using an N64 controller for playing plaque and claymates, which are obviously Super Nintendo games. I've changed up this week, mate. What do you reckon I've gone for this week?
What controller am I using? So you're not using a classic one. I'm not using N64 controller and it's not a s controller either. Is it a next controller at the own half right as controller?
No, no, I've gone for the anti arthritis controller that PS4 controller and it's been beautiful. It's been lovely playing these NES games with a PS4 controller. Ah nice. Yeah, I do like a PS controller.
I'd say that's going to be like because I'll be able to play station for so long now. I do enjoy the feel of a PlayStation controller. Yeah, even though we all love the SNES controller, don't we? We love the SNES controller, but if you put them up next to each other like the whole design of a SNES controller is you completely flat at the back like I was getting a street part of mate, but it just Nes was into your hand.
The old PlayStation shoulder. Yeah, company, isn't it? They're lovely. They're lovely.
Right, so let's let's get into the game play mate. Let's go head to head gameplay of Tiny Toons and just apologies to any listeners that have never heard of these games. These versus battles are this is how it's going to be. You know, I don't think we're ever going to see Mario three, you know, up against Sonic.
Although Sonic actually probably does fit into a mediocre game because it actually isn't very good. Yeah, but yeah, they've done too many games or dragged on there's some proper media because Sonic games out there. There are so they we might be able to get it in there and maybe Mario too because again, it's got some nice nostalgia to it, but pulling up my favorite. My favorite Mario too.
It can't be a favorite. What I'm throwing it. I saw an eating the game. Pick it up and chuck it.
I make a good game for me. Yeah, it's a garden in it. It makes you feel like you're in the allotment. So you just go back and yeah, big enough mushrooms up, chuck them about, get me the bugs.
Brilliant. When we were doing plucking claymates, I thought they were mediocre, but they've got a big following still and it's surprising how much of a following both plucking claymates had. I was surprised by that. And like blocks got a a massive community like they got comics t-shirts figures.
It's like huge because I was a bit like, oh, maybe it wasn't as mediocre because I mean it was a shit game. We've all played it. But when I was searching pucksies and bust the bust loose, they're so little inflation about. I could find any of the sales figures at all.
They were not talking about anyone at all. Well, the figures did you know this is a great question for you. Let's fuck the game play off for now. Did you know that both of these franchises, they didn't just have this singular game.
Like I think they each of them had like five or six games like Tony's seems there's a few different incarnations of Tony's tunes, ventures such and such and with the Adams family as well, there's a few of those games as well. So I don't know how I mean, how the how did these games coming to your going to your life? You know, like did you ask them for Christmas? Did they just turn up one day?
Like were you a big pugsley span from the Adams family cartoons show? I don't know. How did they have they turn up? Like these get all these games just sort of like unless I've traveled back in time and dropped these games off at my house just for the freezer.
So we could do this vodka. But like, no, I don't. Honestly, I stuff like Mega Man and your metroids and you see very well like I was always be always go like my mum get me out. Mom, get me out.
Go out of these games. Like I love met you in the Mega Man. But clock and tiny shoes. They just sort of turned up potentially tiny teams might have been Abbeys.
I don't even know where plot came from. I think block was Ben's like pugsley scavenger home because no one in the house even really enjoyed the cartoon. But it's like there's no or like in that general I can think anyone because no one from it like Abbe and Ben or Beck or no one was watching the Adams family at that point in time. So he's like, I guess they might watch the films but then there was a film tie in.
So I don't know but yeah, it just sort of turned up. Maybe I don't know. Maybe Ben or Abbe are boring it from someone or what do you think you might have borrowed it from someone like I borrowed like pugsley's from you but you know, it's six months to a year. You know, you know, rentable if you will because it just happens when you're with the snare's games don't they just they go walk abouts but potentially you might have borrowed from someone.
It's one of those games if you brought us like no one's rushing to get that back. If you borrowed that, they're not like, oh, you still got my pugsie. I can't believe it. I love that game.
They're like, I can keep that. I'm fine. Yeah, I mean, I didn't actually keep your road runner because obviously I've got all my snare's games. They obviously still got the street fighters, more combat's, Mario stars, the classics, but I don't know.
You're probably getting back. No, no, no, no, no, it's like I was like, I can't wait to play with that. I love it. Yeah, it's like you and Ben knew that I was probably the only person in history of the world to complete road runner apart from these people now on YouTube.
But YouTube don't really count as it. They could be they could be cheating on that anyway. But yeah, you're not asking for it back. So I just, you know, I thought you might have remembered one Christmas with you.
Oh, yeah, I'm so excited. And maybe you're going to get Mega Man X3 mate new and it's felt like a snare's game. Shuck it, you know, the weight was right. It was even kind of wrapped up in Nintendo.
In Nintendo gift wrap. You whip open and then that's it. Christmas day is ruined because you just had a family posting scavenger on me. I mean, that would be a crushing childhood moment.
I definitely remember if that happened. What what? I don't tell you what this what the fuck is in ruins. I was appointing Christmas.
What is this shit? Like I'm looking at this dad and you know, very well that is not Mega Man X. I said Mega Man X3. This is pugsy.
I don't even know what a pugsy is a pugsy scavenger hunt. What's it? He says no, he's just rubbing eyeballs and skin on every floor. That is not a Christmas present dad.
That is not a Christmas present. Yeah, I was even thinking earlier. It was like how the fuck did the pugsy get like the lead? Like even in the even in the box art for this.
It's not like he's just there next on call best there just on just on the bottom just you know, it's in called me. And also was he that cool? Was he a really cool character that he gets worried to get his own game? No, apparently there was a port.
It was on a nest as well and it was either a port of the nest over to the snest and they changed it to Gomez. So at some point someone thought the same thing for it. Pugsy's not fucking changed it to Gomez. No, I'll give this shit about or someone for Gomez.
Nice to all now. Yeah, pugsy and these are kids actually the kids like but it's not a strong supporting character. I thought the same thing. Even Wednesday I think we got over instead of it.
I was thinking exactly the same thing. It's like when you first go into you haven't played pugsy scavenger run. Basically it's classic platformer, but the levels you enter them yourself. You say you're kind of the menu screen if you will, you're pugsy.
You go around the house and you go into certain doors and certain Adam's family members are letting you in and you got to do a level and you tick off like a sheet of levels you need to do, which is a bit weird in itself. But one of the doors you go into Wednesday is there saying come back later or something. I'm not dealing with you now. That would have been everyone knows Wednesday.
I mean pugsy it's just a weird word in itself anyway. It doesn't make sense to kind of sell that. But yeah, I thought that Wednesday would have been a better character to kind of pick. Yeah, I don't think it's a weird decision, but I mean that only actually to its fabulous sales I guess.
Yeah, well, if we're talking about pugsy as a character, let's talk about with, let's just move over to Buster. So tiny toons obviously spin off kind of lightweight loony toons. Buster is the new generation. Yeah, yeah, yeah, 90s.
It's a loony tune. It's got a keen and then kel generation really well. Exactly. Yeah, pretty much exactly that.
Yeah. Now I thought they missed a trick with this game because obviously you've got the pink rabbit. What's her name? Abzene.
I think right. I thought they could have tag teamed the news one, you know, changed up a little bit, give us give us the pink rabbit in one level and then bust another one. Because it's a little bit of a a little bit of a little bit. I mean, the pink rabbit in one level and then bust another one.
When the lost Morgan, there's going to be a little bit of pink rabbit in one level and then bust another one. Does it just look really how difficult what it's been just add a. I bet that skin because I've choosing it's the same for the jeeps and it's been just penander coloring. It probably took too much to acoustic it didn't hit, you know, you could say you couldn't say that game so which was already you know SIM you will learn about the reason why you know it wasn't kind of as complete as it should have been because they wanted to add that state feature but there's no room on it.
What do you just make it's the most hardest game going apart from in Pugsley scavenger up, which again is just as hard as plock. Yeah, and the levels, let me just, while I'm on this, the levels are so long. They're so long. There's one room, there's one room that Pugsley got into and it's a bathroom level.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's fucking difficult, right? It's ducks knocking about, quacking, quite annoying, really, it's off putting the eyeballs in there, obviously.
And then when you think you're kind of through, you go for a toilet door, classic, and then you drop down, like off the side of a cliff, you know, to go down, it kind of tells you you've got to drop down there, and it takes you into an underwater level within the level. And it's like, hold on a second, hold on a second, that's a different level. That's got to be, you can't just be, if you if you wanted the bathroom level, put two bathrooms in the game and have a bathroom level and an underwater level, have a pond, you go out to the pond and do that, but not not have the bathroom level. And then oh, here you go, is, is, and you don't even get a frog suit.
Pugsley shits, swimming, he makes it easy for you. Yeah, I think I only really remember from Pugsley, I was looking at you to be having a day for some of the other levels, but once it's the cow is that one where you're in the bathroom in the ducks and like the science level, I'm ready, eyeballs. But the other thing that I know about Pugsley is just like, right, there was no sense to it's like, you're just, you're jumping in place and some coins will appear, or you'll be able to go through a wall with a real reason, a platform which just appear underneath you or just appear above you. And it's just like, what the fuck is in here?
It's happening. It's like walking along, not just doing anything. And then things, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, bop, you're fucking appearing everywhere. This is too much.
Yeah, they start throwing money at you. Like, you can just headbutt like just top right in a room and they'll just throw a load of cash at you. You know, it's like, well, that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I just hit a space.
I didn't like, I didn't hit a brick or anything. I just entered a space and you just throw a load of money at me or give me some points or what. Yeah, or you'll be like walking along and you drop down to get like some currency or something. And then some boxes just fall rounded.
I know you walk too far to the left now. Yeah, that is really annoying. That happened in the Uncle Festers lab. I'm going through it and you get to another door when you get to a door in these games, that kind of when you die, you go back to the doors.
I'll give them a little credit where credit's due. It don't take you back to the start of the game unless you start level. Yeah, let's complete your usual lives. It's got proper continues in pugsley.
So I don't think there's a true game over. I think it always gives you the ability to continue, which is a nice touch for such a hard fucking game. Yeah, but it's strange that even with that, I still never bought a complete net. I haven't completed it this week.
I couldn't get it done even with it. I'm using safe sex this time, mate, though. I've been using a different technique. Have you seen the film Tenet?
Chris Manoli? I've not seen that one. I think it's really anything for you, but you've got a couple of old boys and there's a machine that takes you back in time, you know, all kind of rewinds time, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's certain scenes in the film where they're kind of running backwards and it's got the, you know, just something back and it kind of changed the fate of the universe. So on this on this emulator, I got, it's got a rewind fast forward. So if I just get, if I just drop down something, I just it's pugsly, pugsly's tenet adventures and I just swing him back in there and I just keep doing it over and over again, over and over again until but probably the minute because I don't think the game likes it, wigs out and sometimes when you pull yourself back into the real time, you can't jump, you can't defend yourself or anything and you just get killed over and over again. So you've got to pull yourself back even further and do a bit more tenet back again.
And I was even using tenet earlier today when I was playing busters, busters, busters, yeah, and on the train level. So the train level is quite hard level. I think it's like the second or third level, but it's like three levels long. And you've got a dash and you've got to jump between a couple of trains.
And that's it's hard. Because if you miss out on that jump mate, you're going back to start a level. And it's a long way in. It's not like you just, it's like battle toads, for example, you know, when you get all the way to the end of a certain bit of battle toads.
But if you die, you go straight back to the start, you know, it doesn't be like those checkpoints with it. So I was using the tenet on buster and just just making that jump over and over again just tenet. And yeah, actually it was not going to be going like you're just fucking cheating. I was like, it's research.
And I'm not, you know, I did this when I was young, I spent way too much time doing this when I was younger. So now I can, I can cheat and I don't feel bad for it whatsoever. You've earned the right time mate. I can't remember completing tiny teams like so often like so many times, but I just don't remember being a hard member of being a really short game.
And the only thing I do enjoy was there was so much talking on it. He used to feel like the little scenes at the start where it'd be talking would take longer to actually complete the level. They just like, just stop. And then the mini games, the different mini games are just why bother?
They're just pointless. Yeah, I just used to think that all you have to do on tiny teams is just dash and just keep dashing out. Well, I thought that as well. So in the first, you know, so the first level you go into the school and there's all these other kind of rap people or whatever they are.
And I used to think you just dash for a moment. It weren't a big deal. But I was finding I was using the jumping attack buttons more and more this time around. Rather than before, I'm sure I'd, yeah, literally, you just dash to hold down RLL.
I don't think if you press down and you kind of look slight attack and you kind of go through everything and any means that you go past. But I'm sure it was easier back in the day because it seems a little bit trickier or I'm overthinking it now. But yeah, pugly feels the same. Pugsies feels exactly the same as what I did.
You know, those many years ago and I really enjoyed it back in the day, but knew it was ridiculously hard. I'm sure I'm sure I completed pugsies. I'm almost, you know, 9.9% positive that I completed it. Because I'm a big deal.
Yeah, I'm a big role runner legitimately. So I must have completed pugsies. If you spend the time to do Roadrunner, you'd be doing it for anything, mate. If you've done Roadrunner, I mean, that's the really, that was just, we did.
Yeah, the thing about Roadrunner is when we do a versus battle for Roadrunner, I'm not sure if there's anyone that can actually compete as a mediocre game. I'm not too sure if there's anything that can kind of, right, anyone can, anyone listening, you're into a retro game, SNES games, obviously, let's know if there's any game that you think could go up against Roadrunner in a fair fight. You know, it can't be, you can't just type in Mario 3. Mario 3 is never going to make it on to this.
Secret Amano versus Roadrunner. Yeah, I don't think that's, yeah. So, to be fair, though, secret, well, although it's one of my favourite games, it's fucking long in it. You've got to be well invested.
And if you want to get all the sword orbs and do it right and get the Mana sword, which you should do, rather than just blitzing through it, it takes up a lot of your time and a lot of your life. Well, it's introduced in those early on, like games, these is any game you play nowadays, it's going to suck your life out, like you play not ground-fest or, or like your, your border lands or your blood bonds or anything like that. That's your life taken away from you. So really, Amano, it's sort of introducing those concepts and saying if you want to play a game, well, I'm afraid that's your life done.
So that's what you're doing. In that sense, take my outfit off to it. Yeah, well, yeah, I was thinking, obviously, I never played it. Maybe you're a big Chrono Trigger fan, weren't you?
So I never had the, yeah, you must have stashed that one away because when we used to sneak into your room, that went about. Yeah, I never had Chrono Trigger was Ed Wardo. We had Chrono Trigger, but you had Chrono Trigger, I don't think it was released in UK, like years, years ago, we played like in the 90s. So we had it on like an American copy that you had to use a convertor thing on his list.
Right. But yeah, we fell in love with that. So obviously, he's all boring now for him when he left because he was like, that's his precious house, he's little don't trash my precious. But yeah, Chrono Trigger was quite a lot of Chrono Trigger, man.
Yeah, it's like a Dragon Ball Z meets Secret Amano sort of thing, right? Yeah, but like, yeah, I only haven't got that years later on, I think I got it on the DS because they did like a port on the DS, so I brought it then. That was great. Nice.
Ten years, yeah, yeah, don't you slag off Chrono Trigger boy? No way, I can't slag it off, man. That's a fair fight in Chrono Trigger versus versus versus. Yeah, Chrono Trigger versus Marner, that would be a fight.
Talking about those American converters, I actually did have one. Well, I borrowed one for forever, so I borrowed one back in the day from someone down my road. And they never got it back. But so I've got a bunch of, so we've got Breath of Fire 2, American style, Street Fighter 2, this original American version.
And there was, do you ever play Blues Brothers? I can't tell. I've got a story like the media. It just came through then.
So that was the only other American game that I played. But I never, I never kind of kept that game. The other one must have liked it enough to kind of keep his eye on Blues Brothers. But that was a classic two-player game mate, throwing records.
I think it's probably just above par in terms of a media game, because obviously it's too co-op. Yeah, that does bump up a bit when it's co-op. But I haven't watched the YouTube video a long time, but I'm sure it hasn't aged very well at all. So they based that on the Blues Brothers, Blue's Brothers film?
Yeah. That's mad. Yeah. When would that come out?
The 90s? Yeah, it must have been. Yeah. Come on.
What, what, what, what games do we need of the kids who love these games? We just got to snest out. It's going really well. We need to release some top quality games.
What are kids into, maybe? I love Blues Brothers. Do they? All right.
All right. All right. All right. Can talk about Blues Brothers, right?
Blues Brothers is Blues Brothers. Yeah. Shall we do the Blues Brothers game? I love it.
Oh, I love it. We do have what, what, what happens in it? It's for records of people. It's for records of people.
Yeah. That's what a Blues Brothers do. They're in it. Chuck records about.
No, no, no. They sing. So can we not do like the thing where they sing in it? So did not chuck records, right?
You know, that's what the kids do. Blues Brothers and Chuck E. Records. That's what kids love.
I can see what that's sold. Yeah. I mean, again, only ever saw one copy, American copy, in the UK of that. And I think you're probably...
No, you're being released, do it. No, it didn't. And you're probably like the second person I've ever spoke to about this game. The first being the person who owned the game.
So, yeah. You're like, you're like, you're going to have to ask for it back then? He did. He did.
Right. Let's move on to the graphics. Let's compete graphics against Adam's family, against the Tony, Tony, James and mate. So graphics, what you saying?
Because I actually think, pugly's a little bit of 3D knocking about. Obviously with some of those, remember the snuck kind of bad guys in the best lab? They had a touch of 3D in them. Just a bit of a nice rendered sheen to them.
And I don't... You're running for pugly, don't you? But the thing with pugly's trying to get above itself. Do you remember that level, like the granny's level, where it was in a crystal ball and you had to sort of...
That fucking horrible. Like that face behind it, that didn't work at all. Like you couldn't see what was going on. He's like a little circle.
Yeah, everything around it in her face. They went too far without that. And that level's hard as well, really hard. That's probably, I think, that's the hardest one out of all of them.
All the other ones are difficult in terms of, you know, being a platformer and being fast, you know, quickly fingers and everything. But that one, it kind of had... You're in like a castle or some description with knights and what not knocking about. Yeah, it's a castle-toxic way.
And you've got the classic, you know, it's any platformer does. You've played Mario or Sonic or anything. You've got spikes that kind of fall down towards you. It's a classic.
You've got to have it. If you make a platformer game, if you don't put a dropping spike in there, it's disappointing, isn't it, really? You've got to have a dropping spike in there. It's not a game about a dropping spike, isn't it, really?
Yeah, exactly. But those dropping spikes came out of nowhere, and they didn't even give you. They didn't even kind of... You never...
Sometimes you wouldn't even see the spike. It would just fall. It would just fall. You'd be on your last heart, like, really trying not to use the tenet technique, isn't it?
I'm not using it all the time. I'm using it all the time. I'm getting stuck on it in my last life. And I get to kill with that.
And I'm actually, I'm teneting back through there, just going to tenet, and then I know where I'm going to stand when it drops again. But, yeah, in terms of the graphics, and even those knights make, they had a little bit of a machine on their armour, whereas I know obviously Tiny Tunes weren't going for the 3D effect, were they? See, I think you're looking for your fancy-to-be glasses even now. That's a thing.
I'm looking back and most of the glasses. And I'm thinking, wow, I wasn't that great, mate. You played it recently, and you're still looking pretty and rose, and you're like, ah, it's brilliant. Like, part of the graphics, ground-breaking, even for today, I think the graphics are part of the graphics, and part of the game, they're not me.
I've probably not watched YouTube, but yeah. I mean, there's Tiny Tunes for his heart, and it's leaving his carton for kids, and the graphics were carton for kids. Like, it's literally with a pixelated version of Tiny Tunes. It can't go wrong.
Partially, he's trying to do it a bit. Like, Parties are even for us even for 3D, but they've made the video game for you, mate. See that in there, but a bit of rendering on that snot, and brilliant. Nice.
You're getting around, mate. You brought into this. Yeah, as long as it's a platformer, you know, I don't want to do this 3D shit, because, again, like, play it, like, going back to, like, something like Mario, for example, and the Mario 64. Mario 64's a good game, mate.
Don't get me wrong, but it don't touch the sides compared to a Mario 3. It's just nowhere near it. Like, 64-help block it was. It just ruined everything with those extra dimensions, didn't it?
Yeah, they wanted to try everything. Once they got that, once they moved from, like, 2D to 3D, I mean, they just wanted to chuckle with the player, I think they could get in it, hadn't they? And they thought, let's get it all. That's great, doesn't work.
Yeah. 2.5, I think, is what you like. Where it's sort of like a 3D background and sprites, but like a 2D character, like a side-shotting. Like a 2.5.
Yeah, exactly. That's what people want. That's what people want. Yeah, any designers listening, just make sure you just use that 2.5, you know?
It's just a nice balance, you know? Just don't get too carried away. We still just want a simple game, like, you know, turtles through time or whatever that one's called. You know, something nice and simple, but with a nice, just gives a bit more art involved, you know?
Just try a little bit harder on the drawings in the background as well. Right. I just said, when we talk about Mario 64 now, like, I remember getting Mario 64, and it did blow my mind. Like, I remember loading it up and just at the start, where it was just Mario's face, and he could just pull his nose in his ears.
And I remember doing that for probably an hour, just thinking, it's the future, mate. They can't talk, how can it get better than this? Like, there is no, this can't do anywhere else. This is it, we've peaked.
This has been a peak gaming for me. I know it started going to the game, I've just pulled his nose and made it long. That's it. Hat talking to me, no, you have won this concert wars.
No one can beat this whatsoever. Well done. Mr. Mirei, I told you what.
Well done. I can't thank you enough for making all my dreams come true. I've made magazine as long. I can't make anything else to do in my life now.
Praise you, praise you. God love Matthew Crane. 13 and 3 quarters. My letter was very similar, but I went past the face and just, I was outside the castle, you see, and I just ran up a tree.
I just loved just reading that tree and I was like, you mean that sound effects? He's in a tree and he can do it handstand in the tree. And I'm like, hold down on your analog stick now. He comes down the tree.
I can just go up and down the tree. He's in a tree. Mario's in a tree. Look at that.
Look at that angle, Mum. Mum. Mum. Look at that angle, Mum.
Look at that angle, Mum. Look at that angle, Mum. Mum. Mum.
Yeah. Now he's in a handstand and now he's spinning. And now look at his back flip. Mum.
Mum. Mum. Mum. Look at that.
I can see young Ryan and young characters in my mind that whole exchange. And how is this year's book? Well, that's, well, I'm writing it. They've got this stuff.
I'm just doing dinner now. Mum. Mum. Whoop, whoop.
Just trying to find the best angle for it. Press and right C. Just go, yes, you like that angle. I remember it was just skateboarding on the bloody turtle shells.
Again, it's just like, whoa, look. Skating round on a turtle shell. I will say though, that is fucking brilliant. Even now, that is still very, very good.
They could have made a whole game doing that. That was groundbreaking. Even now, I would, if I had it in front of me, that's what I'd be going to do. I'd be sort of...
Straight away. Surfboarding on a lava on the back of a green turtle shell. That was out. That was what that game was made for.
Yeah, exactly. I was thinking of this side. That's what I'd get to make. Have you found my baby?
Whoop. Oh, yeah. I was thinking of paring now. I feel bad for that thing.
I can understand how it felt. What is this baby? It's just because I saw you have a square line. Yeah.
I suppose it was technical term for it. Square frozen water land. I suppose. Yeah.
I mean, obviously I feel bad now. Back in the day. That was a good fun. Yeah.
That was a good fun. Right. So, on my list, mate. I was going to bring a game play.
I was going to bring a game play. I was going to bring a game play. I was going to bring a game play. A game play.
A run for a game play. A run for graphics. The next one was sales. Now, obviously, there's no data on Adam's family.
Pokes in scavenger hunt or Tony Tunes is busted. It's busted. That's the move. But let's just guess.
Let's just really try and break this down, mate. I'm not saying like we have to work out how many millions they sold. But we do know pluck sold 200,000 copies in Europe, 200,000 copies in the US. And it has a comic, you know, people have invested in pluck.
It's got a big fan following pluck. I can be a fan following. The German old boy only recently completed the world record. Was that for that?
Was that for Claymates? Either way. Yes, it was. Yeah, but yeah.
They were playing it. So, the thing? I mean, a two big franchise, isn't they? So, a lot of people could've got like you.
You know how he got the game? But your mom and dad would have known Adam's family. There might have been more sales of these games than you actually think. Even though, again, I haven't spoken to anyone else who's ever played these games.
Please write it. Let's know if you have played these games. Let's know your fondest memories of the levels or whatever. What are you saying?
Who do you think actually sold the most units with these two? I would say I think it would be tight tunes just because it would have a bigger base behind it because obviously you've got Looney Tunes, you've got a whole scene behind it. I think that would have more people would have known that whereas Addams Family, obviously everyone knows Addams Family but they add Addams Family cartoon. I don't think pulling in as many as big a numbers as it's not even a tiny piece of it.
But you've got the dedicated to Addams Family to find that Addams Family is not a single punch league, not even a whole Addams Family, you're just getting pugly in the game. I think it's a bit like I would go with tiny tunes. I think tiny tunes sold. How many did we say pop up sold?
I think it did 400,000 worldwide which I think was good. Let me just quickly pull up. We'll do a little bit of research right now. Let's just go top sinez games.
I think Mario must have sold something silly like let's just say 7 million at the time or something. It must have done something stupid like that surely. I've got the top 100 sinez games of all times here mate. I thought it might have told us the sales figures.
It doesn't but you can take what you want from this. So at number 100, you've got Final Fight which is quite a good game from back in the day really. Yeah, Final Fight is alright. Number 99 mate is Tiny Tunes Adventures, Bust the Bust Goose.
If it's breaking 100 I think you probably are right because I'm sure I'm not going to scroll through the whole 100. But I could bet. It's not getting higher than that easy. It's not beating Final Fight.
I don't think he's beating Tiny Tunes but I'm in Final Fight. If he's not within those first 10 what's like 97? Well yeah let me just let me just let me just say 100. This is where it all goes wrong.
So Final Fight is 100 right? Tiny Tunes 99. Yeah. Uniracist you know that shit you and that's it.
That's it. That's it. That's it. That's not it.
The world is actually rough it's fucking uniracist. It's in there. That's 98 right and then you've got ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 97. Street Fighter 2 which is 96 which again that's way too high.
That needs to be. That's probably I would say in the top 20 on the snares. And then you do have Rock and Roll Racers somewhere along here. Then Street Fighter Alpha 2 which again that's why this list makes no sense whatsoever.
You've taken all the credit away from it. Like Maximum Carnage is 85. Do not. Yeah and where is it?
Rock and Roll Racers are somewhere in like the 70s. How is this probably number fucking one on that? That's probably the best selling ever is Ponzi's Bloody Scavengy Run. I think you could be right here because it's all over the place.
It's all over the place. I was going to take the time to sell more. Yeah I think we'll just declare that time to use definitely what it sold more than you know obviously with you like you saying Looney Tunes link is stronger in it. Bugs Bunny.
Everyone knows you Bugs Bunny is. Exactly. If I say Gomez to you you would know what I'm probably talking about but does everyone know what I'm talking about? Yes.
That's the difference. It's like a people do's game that was made from the people just cowloon. It's like kids aren't going to know what that would be really aren't they? It's probably said when everyone is a cowloon but it's not going to have a big fan base behind it.
Your mum would know what the time teams are because they know what Looney Tunes are. So your mum's going to think I'll buy and time to you. My mum's not going to have my buy and beat with you so I'll see that for my uncle Keating. I'm going to give that to my kids.
The time teams will add over it. It's family friendly, tiny teams straight off the bat. Yeah true. I will say talking about family friendly when you're in the toilet level mate and you're jumping on the bad guys.
It makes a fart noise every single time right? As you get older it isn't funny at all. It's really really annoying. It's so annoying that every bad guy you kill just a little.
It's just it doesn't look like it. Obviously I came in here defending pugsleys and trying to get pugsleys on this podium. Obviously playing at this week, the underwater level when you go down the sink or whatever you do or go down the bath. You go to the water and there's swimming cats mate with snorkels.
But they're meowing their fucking heads off. I had to turn the sound off at the video game because that was royally offensive. I don't remember either of them having, you said the soundtrack for pugsleys. But I can't remember even if I'm having a good soundtrack.
I mean tiny teams had the classic do it like if I can looly tunes music. But it wasn't a good sound down behind it. Like block had a classic soundtrack. But yeah, even these I can think of a good memory of reminiscing about.
Oh I love that song. Yeah I'm not putting, yeah I can't, you know pugsleys getting nowhere near a plock soundtrack. That soundtrack is next level. That goes up against that.
You know that could compete against Mario. You know it definitely could because obviously Mario's got some classics. But there's a couple of tunes in there that end that's strong. Where's plocks just powering out those tunes from level one.
Yeah, he ain't got no half-assed tune in there. So yeah that is yeah. Pugs ain't going to get anywhere near a plock is he? The trouble with Mario though.
Mario Pete from Mario 3 Sky Level. Like the music on that was just that was top quality. Like 8 bits of nitrogen to music. And they never got, they never beat that really.
So every game after every game after that you always walk in the sky world Mario 3. That's the best Mario level ever. It might be my personal thing. Yeah I mean yeah it's a good argument there mate.
I do like the underwater level. But I will say that obviously when you're underwater you're not enjoying the level as much as I enjoy you. So the song doesn't quite, if you're at the underwater level on land I think the underwater level song could be better. But because you're enjoying underwater you're not really enjoying the game as much as you are when you're playing it.
So underwater levels always do piss me off. Like I used to think you know Donkey Kong Country played that. Still got that. And those underwater levels mate were very very hard.
Really really hard. Pugs me. Donkey Kong Country is hard. It's like looking back that was quite hard game though if you're at Donkey Kong Country.
Yeah yeah. Harder than like remembering it. Yeah yeah. Harder than most games.
Not as hard. No one near as hard. I was good at Donkey Kong Country. It was one of my games.
I could rinse it. I could go through it. I reckon I could complete that probably five times maybe before I complete Pugsleys. Legitimately you know with no say states, no tenant technique.
You know actually on a snares I just I don't think it's just because I know Donkey Kong so well. Yeah I know I know all gaps. I know how to use Diddy Kong. I know how to use Donkey Kong.
I know where all the secret little bonus stages are. Whereas Pugsleys I'm a little bit lost mate. You know when I'm jumping into that corner and they just. Right.
If it's the replayability in it like Pugsley you're complete but it's a punishing yourself playing that game. Oh Donkey Kong you enjoy you think I'll go back to that. I'll visit that game. I'll enjoy that.
You're not going back to Pugsleys because you're plucking or claiming because you just remember how painful it was trying to do it. You think I'm never touching that game. Like Metro Super Metro and I'll play that like country over and over and over games. You enjoy it.
Yeah. None of these games and I never think I love that. I'm going to be saying that. I did do tiny tunes quite a lot.
It seemed to be a void full of me. It was like I was a tiny tunes on that and I was trying to make it. I was sitting on my way for something to come on to tell you. But yeah not enjoyable games.
Yeah I think tiny tunes definitely had a stronghold in your house. I just remember that was and the Lion King and Lion King was a bad guy. It went a terrible game. It went a terrible game.
It was a big game in our house. Yeah it was. Yeah on that telly you know the classic telly that you had to know if some Joe blogs came into your documentary mate where that telly was. I don't know.
They wanted to play the snare. They wouldn't be able to do it. I had that technique. I had it down but anyone else coming into that documentary made you just turn that telly on.
I'm like obviously a telly's broken. Let me just tap that tap. No no no. There you go my son.
How you do it. It was just push the button in. It just ees out and it just it's actually just be kind to it. Don't just don't just have an eye about an in mate.
You've got a game literally slowly. I push it in and then slowly let out so you can feel that click. Exactly. And that's it.
Lion King we're in. And then you kind of play the first 11 guy. I don't like this game. Let's just put Super Mario Kart on.
It's better than all these games. Let's just put this on. Yeah. That's a banger.
I mean I'm not going to go back onto this hundred that particular hundred best games of all time. I think it's the one as well. I'm not going to go onto that. But Super Mario Kart must be in it.
It's got to be on the snares. It's got to be top five mate. And I know that's a bold statement. But can you think you know even against F zero.
Mario Kart game. The next zero. Yeah. Zero.
