608: 4 Things That Are Stopping You From Getting Started

from Shameless Leadership · host Sara Dean

What are the stumbling blocks that are holding you back from starting? More often than we’d like to admit we stop ourselves from starting. We make up all sorts of stories about why now is not the right time, how we’re just not quite ready, how we need more information or skills before we start, how we should wait until we have more time & energy.   Behind these stories are a lot of excuses we make in order to stay in our comfortable bubbles. But, if we’re being really honest with ourselves, we might have to admit that staying in our comfort zones gets pretty uncomfortable after a while. Staying comfortable for too long breeds a new kind of discomfort - regret, resentment, wondering “what if I had just started way back when??”   In today’s episode I talk you through 4 things that are stopping you from starting: Insecurities and the stories you tell yourself as a result of them A lifelong erosion of self trust A lack of connection to your intuition Infrequent practice using your voice and stepping into leadership and into action As we dig into these 4 concepts, it is likely that you’ll be able to connect some dots that will allow you to start taking small steps toward the things you really want, the things you very much deserve and the things you are very much qualified to do.
