Real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good real good Ladies and gentlemen hello and welcome to a real good show episode number 61 It's America's best worst Canadian sports podcast back again your favorite real good boys are back in the saddle Justin Morris at with you and with me as always is Stefan heck John Cullen in the saddle and with us I'm a talent saint. My take callus is weak right now. I did our live show last time and my taint callus got worn down. Really?
During the course of live show? Yeah, because we it's been like two years. Yeah, no, not during the live show. Yeah.
No, no, during the live show. It's funny callus. My taint was very callous. This is a call back to a joke that I'm sure is making our guest very uncomfortable at the moment.
Oh, sorry. Do we have a guest? We haven't introduced him yet. And he's been kind enough to not speak until he's been introduced from Tokyo police club of the band we all know and love.
Graham Wright is here. Graham, thank you for joining us. Thanks for having me. I'm going to be a fan of Crunch for Time, I guess, because you're playing a show this evening.
Oh, I play lots of shows. Do you even care about shows anymore? I can almost phone it in. That technology is close to ready.
Because I play keyboards. That's the computer instrument. Yeah, that's true. You can almost do that in a class.
You are playing a few. You play guitar on a few. I play guitar on most of the songs. Oh, yeah.
You really fucked up. I really fucked up. Now I'm just playing acoustic guitar on a song. But it has a single cutaway.
And I have to stand there looking at him and Dave Matthews band. And it's the first time we're doing it. So when you guys see me playing asshole at the show. I'm going to yell out Dave Matthews band.
Yeah, I do. I want the play crash. I want the rest of the guys to know what the sacrifice I'm making. Perfect.
I will. So you didn't write that one, I'm guessing. For their shitty songs, god damn it. I already saw your play show earlier today because you swung by the radio station that I worked for.
Yeah, but I do work for. You saw me in full action, man. You were pulling the camera while I schmoozed, swarmed, and otherwise made nice sense. That was probably more work for you than the actual show was because I think you just were working like an egg shaker or something for the full set.
Oh, yeah, that's just easy. You're the camera guy just? I was taking photos of fans. Very nice.
Yeah. I'm coming to a point where you can just, it'll be like DJ style, you press a button and your keyboard part just goes. Oh, I'm going to be replaced by a machine. Like super, super quick.
The keyboard is local 509 is organizing against it, but it's only a matter of time. Now this is ostensibly a sports show, but you are right now in the process of something that collides the worlds of sports and music together. Yeah, I'm in the middle of my music industry fantasy hockey league draft, which I was conscripted into yesterday. Okay.
And I'm the worst. I'm the fantasy guy that does two weeks of his lineup and then forgets for the rest of the year. Yeah. It's like a gimmy team.
I'm really, I told myself I wouldn't do it this year. So that's three weeks. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Like if you can do it all in advance, you can do it in pretty far in advance now, right? Oh, yeah. You can do it for the whole season. Maybe you guys can, after I finish my team, then you guys can also set my lineup for the entire team.
Yeah. Yeah. That would be great. That would be great.
Real good team. I do need a team name. So if you want to solicit your listeners. Real good team would be fine.
What kind of players you end up with? Yeah, we can make a little part. You have the default? Yeah.
Who team name right now? I am Graham's team. Okay. I actually chose that.
This is a key point. You get to my seventh year. Sometimes I'm going to exchange. Yeah.
Or Graham's awesome. Did you see a literal issue? Sometimes. It would be Graham's great team.
It could be Graham's great team too. But I don't know because I don't get John. It's always just John's awesome team. Yeah.
John's Jumbo team. Jurassic. Jurassic. I like that.
If you just drafted a bunch of guys who are all on the cusp of retirement, maybe. But that's tough to gauge because I've drafted Yarmy or now five years in a row where it's like picking him up for the farewell tour, like going to track his every game in the final season and he just will not go away. He won't stop. I never want him to.
I'm hoping never to retire. There's too many check models left out there that he has not been. We think if he retired he'd have more time to do that. Yeah but maybe they would care about him last?
Yeah. It's easier to just sit here when you are going on the road I guess. Graham, can you back up? I have banged zero check models.
It's because I'm an indie band. I think as soon as I'm out it's going to start a damn bursting. As soon as you retire it's going to be just a veritable flood. Because then you can make it up then.
When you're still doing it people can look up your band and all that. When you retire you can just be like, yeah I used to be in a band and they don't have to know anything about it. You've got to spend money to make money, John. Oh it's my turn to draft guys.
Oh we got Phil the Thrill is available. I would love to take my boy. I'm on the same team. Are you back to back?
Yeah. I got another pick. All right. If you get a goalie what goal he's available here.
Let's see. We got Jake Allen. Jake the Snake Allen. The bird of the snake.
I am left is available too. And Ryan Newhanson. There's some good players left still long ago. I might just take guess laugh and leave a goalie for later.
Yeah. Who's up there? James Neal. I like Eichl too.
I'd say Eichler gets laugh. Your choice. You need a center though. Don't you know.
No, he was right wing wasn't he? No. He was center. So I got eight seconds.
Gets laugh. I'm getting some laugh. There we go. Oh we have so much to look forward to.
I believe that the picks are 45 seconds. That's a real fun. It seems like a minute and a half. Yeah.
That's a real grill. Yeah. So folks look forward to all the times we're going to have to take a quick break. I'm going to interrupt the sponsors too.
We don't have any right now. We're sponsor free right now. Maybe Tokyo please go and sponsor the podcast. I could have some quick copies for you guys right now.
You have a new EP. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm just reading your copy man. We actually got a question about the new LP.
The lines are going up. Which came from Dan Nichols on Twitter asking why you guys made the decision to do it as two LPs instead of one EP. Do people get other way? Oh sorry.
Do people answer the questions? Should I answer the questions? Well, there's only one you have to answer. This is like somebody who really wanted to do it.
No, it's all right. I just don't want to be sincere. And then everyone will be like, why that guy? No, you can be sincere.
Like, yeah, there's a question section coming up later where like don't be sincere. All right, got it. Just let her like pepper throughout the show like this. Those are the serious.
We didn't bring you on here to talk about music. This is our like, did you bring me on here to talk about how to talk about the podcast? Yes. Are you hoping for some kind of meta answer?
Yeah, super meta. That's good. Well, we're on a great track. We brought you in as like a brand consultant.
Yeah, exactly. Perfect. Well, you're asking the right guy. A modestly successful Canadian touring band.
And I played the acoustic guitar. We did it. It was a few reasons. It was the way we were writing the songs was like piecemeal because everyone moved to different cities.
And so we didn't have time to get together and write 20 songs, which we used to do. Okay, we have two songs. Let's just do them in three days while we're together for this show and then we'll see each other in three months. And so that would have just been, and it would have taken a long time to get them all together.
And it just didn't feel like we were making an album. So we were like, we will put out one every month, like singles club. And we didn't do that. And we will put out an album and then we didn't want to wait for that.
So the EP has kind of ended up being the best version of not just waiting for an album. And it was also, we had this theory that we wanted to test, which I don't recommend you do it with your job after all, but which is that our last thing we put out, we were gone and we made it took us like four years to make this record for us to be able to. And then we put out the album and we had the exact same level splash and it went just as quick. Except then we didn't have another album to put out.
Okay, that's it. We still have a tour. Like that's it. Because nobody gets to show any more about music.
Like there's new music all the time. And so this time, maybe if we do it twice in a year, we can like double our like exposure. Which kind of, I mean, we're touring on an EP right now. Like that's brand new, even though we've had another thing all year getting press and publicity.
So I guess that's correct. But at the same time, it just turns out that no one, people don't think EP's our thing. They're like, okay, we're going to do that. Yeah, so we made the EP.
Can you listen to that? How many put out a second one? You're like, no, this is really it. Like we made two.
I don't know if you fuckers are paying attention. But there's two of us too though. And like on this is stupid, but on Spotify, which is how I don't know if you guys are Spotify guys or title guys or but title. I mean, you're like a monster title.
You got those head set mics. That's true. I used to be a hockey player. So that's where these are.
I went east for dinner tonight. And only one. I was supposed to have went east tonight, but Stefan didn't bring me any. So I had yogurt.
What kind of yogurt? Strawberry. Okay. Okay.
But Stefan didn't feel comfortable going back into the restaurant. Whatever. That's bullshit. The listeners can tune in on this.
Okay. So Stefan said he was at Wendy's when we were group messaging earlier and then I said, hey man, grab me a spicy chicken. And then he's like, oh, I just walked out the door. Meaning you was still on the Wendy's property.
And then I was like, cool, man. I was on the sidewalk outside. Okay. Still on the well, but I mean, you were you could have easily gone back.
Technically, yes. But you say that you should that it would be weird for you to go back. But I maintain that no one at Wendy's has a high enough IQ to even realize that you were there. No, let's do the show.
My favorite podcast. We'll get to a rough you by Wendy's. The place with the stupid employees. Yeah, that's right.
I think our listeners know I have like that Kirby enthusiasm Larry David level like neuroses. Where you can't just walk back in. No, you can't do that. You can't I'm someone back like our most aspergean listeners were backing up on this.
No doubt. I think you. Yeah, that's true actually where I'm asking the wrong fan base. They are fan base.
Yeah, that's a huge mistake. Graham, what's your thoughts on this? Would you go back in for a pal? I would go back in for a pal.
But I'm going for John. No, Jesus. I'm going to be water. That's what I'm going to go back in for a pal.
Go back in for a chance. See, I would go back in and order the exact same thing, like do the exact same interaction and then do it again and do it again. So the thing is like a glitchy thing. Yeah, like a time loop.
Yeah. That's how you do it basically. It's like you're the crazy one. I'm completely I'm just having my first interaction every time you see me.
That's how I would do it anyways. I'd have to get the same. Yeah. So you hope that John would want what you want.
Yeah, what did you have? I had the non-spicy chicken because you wanted the spicy chicken. Well, the non-spicy is fine. That's enough of a change.
That's like a gradient where they wouldn't remember your personal as a spicy. Yeah. I know. Okay.
Well, next time I'll try this. I'll leave you and then you phone me and say, can you get any Wendy's? So I'll tell you when I'm like right outside of when you ask. Yeah, you should have told me.
You should have asked. This is a major divergence from when we're talking about six streaming services. No, this is good. It makes a lot.
This is very relatable. You think Jay Z is currently arguing about he could have just sent Farnsworth Bentley out to get him another fucking spicy chicken. His his butler would have already been back with one. That's true.
We were talking about title. Yeah. So basically to answer your question, we may be an EP and then our manager called us and was like, Hey, could you guys grab me an EP and so on and so on and so on. Perfect.
What an asshole manager. Now, this is good. You guys are the good boys. I actually think every member of Tokyo police will answer the question the same.
I think you guys would all go back and maybe not Dave. I was just going to say, yeah, because he's a singer. Yeah, we go back in for him. That's how it works.
He's never at when he's in the first place. I was thinking when I was watching your acoustic set earlier though that you should, you know, you're popular band, but I would imagine that you all lead pretty normal lives because you all look very normal. Like you're just a bunch of normal guys. Like, you know, we had Fitz and the tantrums in to do the same thing and that guy has like a crazy rock star haircut.
Oh, my God. There's no way you could see him on the street and be like, that's just an average dude. Yeah, you can't. I don't know how people fucking do it.
We like, because we had a thing where we put a record like it's time to take the next step. Like let's go have some money and be like, you know, be like Fitz and the tantrums and succeed. And you, it's what my mom tells me every time she hugs me goodbye. Oh shit, it's my turn to draft.
This is what she tells me. I need a goalie. You need a goalie. I'll be gone.
You need a left winger too. All right. Well, I got two in a row. What about New Market's own Brian Elliott?
I like Brian Elliott. And his new market. I would almost pick a long go. I like the new market connection with Brian Elliott.
I'm doing it. Matt Murray was a guy. All right. Now, I need a left winger.
How do we feel about Breeze's? The top anyway? You'll feel great about him. Honestly, Daniel Sedine is going to be playing.
I'm not taking any fucking Canucks. I would take Daniel Sedine. I feel like he is out of all the left wingers. I like Daniel Sedine.
All right. I like Daniel Sedine. Good value. Well, that's true.
Because the team is really bad. And like play the season with the wee artists and put up some points. Yeah. You have Eric Carlson looking pretty good.
I feel like I'm a team. I got to feel the throw. There you go. I'm not the world cup thing.
He has also an actual chip on his own. Yeah, his nuts. Isn't he all fit now? He did the Gary Roberts new market.
He did the Gary Roberts thing, but I don't know. I mean, I always felt like he's pretty fit. I mean, he's a weird body. But it's like, you know, I never felt like, whoa, like, he's really slow or like way behind the game.
It's kind of weird to me that like, guys who also look a little doughy, like when Drew Doudy came in the league. He was legit kind of. Or like, like Rick Nash, young, like, Nash. Yeah, Rick Nash.
Never had to deal with these things. And is it just because like they played in a small market, they were never there. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. But like, you know, I never make that argument against Rick Nash because Guy fucking scores goals. Yeah. He'll also does that.
He'll scores a lot of goals. So, but Rick Nash is kind of big. He was like big in doughy. He's kind of short too.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He probably was super ripped if you saw him on the shirt off or whatever. He had that picture of Buffalo at that wedding. Oh man.
Yeah, he gained so much weight in the summer. That's going to be. That was the summer. He got arrested for drunken boating.
Right. Which you have to commit a crime. Yeah. Drunken boating.
And of course, there's the famous Kyle Wellwood photo. And I feel like Jake Vertan is this year's version of that. He's like, I'm not going to get a picture of him because the one one's going to Abbott's sort of they don't have to do. Yeah.
I thought this was photoshopped for the longest time. Oh yeah. Keith Kuchuk also had that really when he came to the show. It's a very exciting time to be here.
Oh man. Oh man. So this is like a big moment. But I feel like this is more of like a celebrity encounter for you than it might be for him.
Would you go so far as to agree? With Stefan? Yeah. I'm a fan of your Twitter account.
Thank you. I follow you on Twitter. Just making this like really strange. I don't know.
That's how we roll a real good show. I just, you know, it seemed like no big deal that we were going to have Graham on the show. But I know it's really exciting. Yeah.
No. don't really care but as long as I win the fantasy league yeah that's all you can just talk me for the next 60 minutes that's fine that's why we brought you on no one's heard my band I know I just like you know I freaked out when we had Max Herman on the show because that's like my favorite band and I'm coming around the best and it's not in there at all oh that you because I never would have heard of that band had I not been to see your show at the Commodore in 2011 when they opened for you well you know someone around that way as a wise elder states man in the rock I'm happy that are opening bands shot us then and since they've arguably succeeded in the ups and downs pass what we can ever dream how was Justin the radio station really much quieter that's probably for the pair that's why you still has a job I guess let's go back to when you were excited when you were excited forget I said any of that always that oh man oh yeah I'm really well I'm Graham I told you please club easily one of my favorite bands I don't know what well you speaking of people who open for Tokyo please club John that's right my band has open for Tokyo police club and you're now to phone so you did your job you did a good job there you fucked up with our tells but shoe coffee shut us down all right good like these guys might be good we got a fucking squish these assholes we did although that was I the thing I always remember about that show was that that was like when you guys just had a lesson in crime out so you only had like 30 like I think we played for longer than you guys did yeah that happened a lot in those days yeah that was awesome because you guys were getting really popular off of off of the EP and so it made sense for you guys to headline shows and draw people out but then but then yeah I remember I remember Greg coming up to me before the show be like how long are you like how long are you guys playing for them and I was like well they told us to play for like 40 minutes because there's two bands on the show and Craig's like you might play for longer than we are like okay well whatever but yeah that was great got me and we were young energy with 30 minutes now we play for 75 yeah I was hosting with a last show no it was our last show but it was that was probably our best show I would say it was really fun and that was a weird because like I went to elementary school with all these guys Greg I'll stop the drummer is the same age as me and then Graham and Dave and Josh are two years younger than me so I didn't know them but Greg and I got along very well and but you know I came up to BC kind of lost touch with everybody and then when they came out I really liked the EP and I knew they were from Newmarket but I never thought like Newmarket's decently big I never thought like oh I should research and see if I went to elementary school with those guys but then I remember I was reading a review and it's a drummer Greg Alsop and I was like well there's no way there's two Greg Alsop's from Newmarket so I messaged them on my space and they weren't like you guys were not quite big enough for you had someone else running your my space yet so I messaged I was like this Greg that went to like Bogart public school is like holy shit man yeah and then we actually got asked open for you by UBC not even by Greg it was like it was just something that had kind of come together you guys had someone else opening for you from Calgary and they couldn't make it and then we got put on there and the rest is history the rest is like my band like my band's history not okay it's totally fine I'm doing a lot better as a singles artist slash comedian slash curler slash podcaster educator yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I'm a multi-hyphen I'm a multi-hyphen for sure yeah but yeah that was a good time we have yeah you're not a very Canadian comedy that's true we are in something that we can talk about right now because every week on the program we like to take a peek at the iTunes reviews that come in in a second that we call review review to very enthusiastic thumbs up this is awesome worst episode ever this week's review comes to us from the iTunes store it's written by Nick I think who writes confused this isn't the website for the best funeral home in Vancouver can you direct me to that instead which is of course in reference to the push that we had to try to go out to join a straight best of competition because they remove their podcast category they had like 50 categories on weed dispensaries so you know we really know who has the best indica in the city at this point who has the best podcast not quite as sure and we thought that the best funeral home would be the best way to slide in there because I thought it'd be the next voting for best funeral there's apparently the answer is a lot of everyone because we came like 30 I think yeah well so I have a friend that works at the time any funeral homes I was pretty confident that we were gonna win and then he was like dude you guys weren't even close are we drafting oh yeah I was gonna do it subtly now you got how we draft this is good we can help you just you talk about the funeral homes yeah we didn't even crack the top 10 for votes for best funeral home which you know was kind of disappointing because I thought we had a larger you don't online following then I would go with whoever won the best funeral home competition probably yeah but you have a forward spot he's a center you can have on your bench yeah can I be like oh she plays with yeah yeah like oh she yeah that's good all right all right I'm sorry just keep coming up the worst I'm sorry this is a great this is a great this are probably our best bit of all time Graham does this fantasy all people you're a bit here I'm a name for it was Graham to see you should bring this back yeah I want to bring it back absolutely you can have Max do a gram to see maybe I'm sure it'll be an improvement I'm sorry I'm happy that you're here I don't want to seem like I'm not happy and I think Justin said many Max related fantasies yeah that could be a second to yeah as Max to see Jesus just as yes best funeral home but to Amherst funeral and cremation services to be fair they have cremation services yeah we know exactly that's very solid their foot on scale but so yeah so my friend that works for the Georgia straight said we are not even close we didn't even crack the top 10 and I said who the fuck is voting for funeral homes and he's like you'd be surprised well all their employees are going to obviously yeah and then also with the Georgia straight you have to vote for like 15 other things yeah that's true so you can't just go on and click like one thing if there's a minimum amount of things so like our listeners are lazy you know what it was Amherst Amherst was it possibly first in the list oh there was a list yeah I know it's crazy but we did win that we did get nominated questions about how big is our online following really if we couldn't win best funeral could be 39 other funerals yeah but apparently it's still quite large because the nominees for the Canadian Comedy Awards came out on Monday morning and if you look under best audio show or series top of the list baby real good show it's pretty sweet top of list because it's an alphabetical order and somehow real is the first alphabetical list is a lot of stuff with that yeah true we're up there with the retail nightmares stop podcasting yourself Taggart and Torrance and the trailer park boys podcast so very elite company I like various deemed company yes and vote for us by heading on over to Canadian comedy awards dot org yeah please do that sure what's it yeah dot org it's an organization speaking of reviews grand you have a memorable review of of of your band that sticks out that you can think of was like super weird or I feel like you're the guy in the band that reads the reviews a no no really maybe when we started now man I think about our band I don't think it's gonna be surprising anyone is we're not we don't engender a lot of passion in people like people like the band there's lots of people really guys band is good all this is their spotify and there are other people who are like I don't care for that group all this dark house instead but no one fucking hates us no one like we don't have a monkey peeing in its own mouth on pitchfork or anything like I've never there's never been anything that's even been even like fun to read that was that didn't like us or they did like us don't look like one of the best man in the world is a man where this guys nobody's like ever shit sandwich do you no one has ever said sandwich yes yeah well I think if you get you know if one person really fucking hated you then you're doing well that like I did I used to be on the radio myself yeah and there was one guy who just hated me he just hated how I was in the radio and what I said in the way I would talk and he would just spend the entire show in the comments section responding directly to things I said on the radio but with jokes about how I was terrible and she he listened to everything is like the music station I want yeah yeah it sounds like something that a listener would do like we I've met we met a lot of our listeners and it seems like it's a thing that people would do not not our listeners but just in general there are people that like to comment on everything and I mean I mean our iTunes reviews I feel like shit talk you specifically oh yeah yeah then that's fine I understand that but I the thing that I don't get is like the thing that's weirding me out and this has happened a lot recently is like when listeners will like tag other people on Twitter like in inside jokes on our show yeah like you're like they don't listen to the show like why are you mate like they don't know what you're talking about yeah like give me to listen to a show though that I have listened to is some like weird ass guy posting some joke that I don't understand but they also tagged the podcast and say like okay well I can figure out what this weird ass guy is saying to me by clicking on his Twitter account and then finding out okay it's a podcast and then downloading I guess the first episode and I'm gonna be like the next 25 they explain inside joke I don't know what episode you left out yeah exactly how you do it you'd be so hyped for that like when the inside joke fine like say it was an episode 30 or you listen to legitimately 30 hours finally oh shit I get it close to 45 hours knowing this for us yeah definitely but it is ostensibly a sports show yeah and talk there was a big sports moment last night so it's over to kind of great in that your concert is this evening because we've done some Monday like you know we have a big Monday Tuesday yeah yeah well we have the game on behind us even more distracted oh good by sports happening around you the blue jays of course won their wild card game last night yeah you guys were watching it in the dressing room you said yeah we were watching on a stream that would like and whenever it knew something exciting was happening and it would skip that and then he would catch the ball from the catcher and it would just sort of skip everything we have to just count like the balls and strikes at the bottom of the screen and which was probably pretty grainy which is pretty grainy and then one of the people we were watching with I guess we were on like a long enough delay that he found out that the jays one like two minutes before I went on the stream and just announced it to the room immediately they're like ruining all of the drums it's a number of born ruffians this was the Elwins sound guy oh wow so he doesn't even like like really he shouldn't be in the dressing room really yeah I don't know how he got past my garbage but a bunch of regular guys also we have bodyguards but other than that I don't like people to close the stream skip the beer throwing or do you see that I think I maybe missed it when did it happen yeah yeah around like his Melvin Upton came in I think it was there's a coke and he as well because I first saw it and it looked like a water bottle on that yeah that's what they thought the radio broadcasters wouldn't stop talking about it as a water bottle tasted like one to a start going to be actually it was a coconut yeah regardless it's a great photo you can I mean you probably won't use it in an ad but they could go the beer so great people would rather throw it onto the field than continue drinking absolutely this guy thinks it's all a bad blue so that's there's no way at the J's yeah I didn't think this old coke and you know that's clearly a coke I thought it was all but it's a company isn't it or is that a but that could be a but but it looks like there's mountains on it that's a blue jays Bud Light that's a blue jays Bud Light yeah I saw this it looked almost like the mountains the blue jays are all but I don't think I'm drafting oh let's come back to this topic speaking of beer I am as drafting you're my yagr is available should I do it yeah yeah farewell to our part five get this check models part one million all right you probably need another goalie I don't know their defense man because you just have Carlson yeah yeah but that's okay you can carry your whole team but but dran I like him this year to yeah you know I'm up you need a left winger you do do it let's get him hell yeah we're doing this quick I like it only 45 seconds that's true yeah yeah I mean I feel like you should grab like a hot rookie unless they're all gone at this point so you know if line is available he's probably long gone he's probably gone oh anyway so we we forensically established what could I know what was thrown on the field it was a tall one to yeah and the commentators I listen to the whole game on radio because I had to work last night but they were like oh why would you do that and risk aggravating the team like the Orioles are gonna get you all fired up now and come back and win this thing a stupid move by the fan all around Justin was listening to the game on old prospector radio and generally you know I feel like if you go back to last year also throwing things has worked out pretty nicely for the yeah they had a baby that's just sacrificial baby got hit by the beer also and worked out famously I hope 20 years from now the baby does a does a photo update just in the parents arms but then they're gonna do it in the pool from the nevermind cover that was what I was referencing so glad everyone felt the need to explain that joke they should do it on a pool like the Nirvana oh yeah I was talking like that a dollar bill in front of it yeah yeah yeah yeah I'll make a baby in there oh like a naked I'm a habit to dick out oh like nevermind oh okay cool yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah oh is that the band I never even knew I never even knew the band I just have seen the picture yeah yeah Nirvana okay cool cool cool cool cool cool yeah what's it called again you know my favorite Nirvana what oh good for you yeah yeah this is easily our worst episode of all time I was kind of show that I wasn't able to watch the game but I feel like baseball is the best sport that translates to radio yeah I think so because just the slow pretty slow yeah well that's what you said yesterday on Twitter I think because like hockey is super fast-paced and they can't tell everything that's going on yeah on the radio and there's also like a like sorry go ahead oh yeah and when the crowd noise comes in like I don't need you talking yeah I was gonna just feeds the drama to hear the crowd like be as tense as I am listening to it yeah because there's that time lapse to where you can like hear the ball be hit and then if there's like a big cheer then you can understand like oh it's probably got a chance to be a home runner whatever yeah it's like kind of got that sort of drama going for just awesome to actually watch the video of Edwin's walk-off Homer after I was off my shift because you know he knew immediately oh yeah for sure so did the catcher that's my favorite like that just turned around around and sprinted into the dugout and the best part for me was like watching the entire bullpen just lose their minds because as it cuts to like the tracking shot of the ball exiting into the stands you can see like the entire pitching staff just losing it they because they knew just as soon as he did basically absolutely they knew it was a whole night of tall bud lights ahead a big moment for them being a baseball gram you I know are a participant in a certain baseball league that you wanted to address on the show a little more about the the Toronto music industry saw is it all right it's I don't know I've never actually been to a game never been to a game that was just a little Twitter humor okay I thought you had been because I thought we understood Twitter humor on this podcast and only sound does and meet like barely yeah that's fair yeah cuz a friend of the show Mitch at that's a CBC radio I believe they won this year yeah yes they did actually that's not sure I did go to a CBC music softball game okay there you go you know I was just there yeah he's like the coach Mitch knows what's up he's getting him going he coaches on the bases like he can hit fine they've got rich to find the team so he really does most of the heavy lifting he's their ringer nice but he I was actually really excited to hear your grievances oh no I'm sorry I don't know I don't go to it that's my dream I really got a good grievances out from Jason Whitlock we do our clip of the week is something that we kind of wanted to address if it had come up a little bit earlier we definitely would have talked about it came out like an hour before the live show and yeah it's it's the clip of the year so far because if there's a culture war brewing in the Toronto music industry softball league well we don't know about that but there certainly it's a culture war that no one is talking about it's the culture war humans are losing and the culture war tearing apart from you do because it's a deadly culture war being waged that isn't being discussed on Fox News MSNBC or CNN cyber humans versus humans people whose reality is shaped by the internet versus people whose reality is shaped by the real world right now cyber humans are crushing human it might be the most one-sided war in the history of the world cyber humans live on three planets Facebook Instagram and Twitter they use Facebook to promote their delusional lifestyles they visit Instagram for sex I'm gonna pause right there wait if you put like some fucking rock and guitar music under that and like animated that would be the opening credits like a 90s cartoon about like the humans versus cyber humans what can we see who's saying it's Jason Whitlock who you know is not wearing his typical fedora that makes it look like you should be riding a fan boat and solving mysteries down on the bayou but I'm really that comment the last one before I post it they visit Instagram for sex like I'm not using Instagram wrong boys like what is what I fucking Instagram several times not as many as Jason Whitlock and we will hear more of what he has to say and they use Twitter to control what all of us think Twitter is their weapon of war cyber humans control the median celebrities America's tastemakers through Twitter they bully us into buying into their false sense of reality with Twitter bots and thought police and linch mobs Twitter is why the media and celebrities believe police are indiscriminately killing large numbers of black men Twitter is why Colin Kaepernick believes police brutality is a bigger threat to black man than mass incarceration and poverty Twitter is why Kaepernick and his supporters think the best way to show the black lives matters is by being publicly angry when a white police officer kills a black man unjustly and silent when a black man kills a black boy unjustly Twitter is a cesspool of 140 character bigotry it's the virus spreading racial division in the real world cyber humans spend their lives locked in this virtual world unable to see the humanity in their classmates next door neighbors and co-workers unwilling to accept that good people might disagree with them they filter out flawed human beings and only let like-minded cyber humans into their smartphone reality I'm gonna point out the irony that the chasing with lock blocks a shitload of people they avoid connecting talking and engaging in the real world in a real way they duck their heads and stare at their phones for cyber humans is safer to tweet and text and snap but is it safer for us those of us who visit the cyber world but prefer living in the real one well that's the craziest shit I've ever heard well that's part is the video because like it's so well the words are coming on the screen as he's saying it's cyber humans versus humans yeah that's the funny part that you're just like some internet like some guy who's like a graphic designer as a cyber human yes I'm cyber human had to write actually type out cyber humans and then lying what's it was on the fly either yeah it has all the all these graphics and stuff ready to go so this went through like multiple stages and this is like a TED talk this is a part of the show sports FS1 has a new show that I hope no one watches but probably some people do called speak for yourself with Colin Coward and Jason what that spin calls it all takes matter like did we look at booted from ESPN yeah website yeah well former guest on our show Greg Howard ruined his life to such an extent that always got the article about it yeah yeah two of them like the greatest things ever and I watch this video and was like do it again Greg you've got to do it again I'm right I do it to him so I'm sorry those cyber humans think it's bad when police kill innocent black man real people don't do his fine or whatever yeah that was interesting yeah yeah but that I mean that's man we've talked a little bit about the Kaepernick thing on the show before but it's weird how like the act gets talked about but not the intent at least that's like addressing the actual intent of it but just addressing it in kind of like the worst way possible yeah yeah I mean it's it's very stupid but it may break a clip and we do have another clip to yes even stupid because Graham you were going to join us for a regular segment that has made quite the resurgence on the show in recent weeks that's right it's everybody's favorite because it went away for a while and you had to miss it so it could come back the to to to Tapper Tracker you could be stuck in this for a while that was really nice get a ten dollar raise per hour if you throw your own employees you are grasping how do you like when he slaps you in a face how do you do it just if you yell in my wife you guys think this is okay I have a reputation and I have to protect it and you will destroy it I'm leaving I'm not rescuing you bar now Graham I think there's a pressing question here which is have you ever seen bar rescue I'm sad to say I've never seen bar rescue my association with John Tapper is really the source of my star struckness with you seven as you see I'm obviously very hard of it now now we're there now because we're talking draft and fantasy now we're Tapper tracking it's real this is like this is like doing a top 10 with David Letterman my god who predicted that's all I know but John Tapper is I know more about John Tapper's fictional sex campaigns on Twitter then I do it's a program bar rescue so he blocked me for that I and then I'm gonna walk me live on this show live on the show he unblock them was that planned well we just got a bunch of Twitter people to tweet at him saying please unblock stuff really annoying so I guess I will yeah and now I can like ironically retweet him it's fantastic that's so we're gonna make you watch some bar rescue right now and listen your thoughts on it so Stefan do you want to queue up the video at the same time as me right here take consider a long time he doesn't world I expect certain level of service I don't want to see a staff number drinking smoking dancing oh hey don't give out this bowl yeah this guy escaped from an issue of high times here you go guys thanks for 20 minutes before they got a hookah if they time things right they can get it out in one minute he knows they haven't used a hookah before right this is an embarrassment to who could lounge it anywhere who could fight works by drawing hair across heated charcoal through a bowl containing a sweet tobacco mixture called she's a she's a vaporizer and it's drawn through the cold water base and both filtering and cooling the smoke look at it looks like a sweat man there's no way I would want to take a puff from one of those hoses I'm gonna have to back it up all gross she's gonna go I'm just gonna take a step gross I don't want to do it she hates your drinks that is disgusting they hate their drinks are you okay I'm gonna have to play this isn't flash so it's just sitting there we got a part of so frickin disgusting people if you can all over the damn place I'm gonna go with your heart they're not gonna clean up the we are they were literally playing connect for in the office there as people were puking I forgot I got a good that was yeah my favorite part was like the blueprint of the hookah the cross section of a hookah I'm overwhelmed your first exposure to John I didn't know it was so good yeah that's great you're right it's the hookah explainer graph that really say they bought it from Mythbusters yeah I liked the this is an embarrassment a good name of who bars is been solid forever I just wish at that point they would have like just caught to like an old like Iranian man just like smoking a hookah in Tehran with like a single tear on I'm drafting all right sorry brief break from the time we need a golly and I only defencien yeah we just have Elliot only we gotta get yeah yeah he'll probably get more starts than let them I like rhymer or Smith yeah you'll get more starts than rhymer okay then Smith I think what's the anti-amie sentiment John I think the man gets really gonna play more than Smith I don't think so all right if he's as long as he's healthy like the looks of his face but all right good don't get me wrong I just think me Emmy's not they definitely another defense man here we go oh yeah brody yeah there you go done all right easy some Vancouver musicians in there so I just like Arizona probably gone all right I like Arizona this year yeah yeah yeah yeah you were calling them all in a show they are they look a lot better than Vancouver in the game we went to Justin yeah well I was saying that Ben Hutton was making it look like junior out there and John said well it is Arizona is available actually I would take on who looks I wouldn't take him he looks extremely confident that's a big reach like within your next like five picks yeah I don't have I think okay we're around 15 around 14 so I may have frozen yeah he's right there plus mine is broke the draft you could probably pick hadn't last because looking like he doesn't get picked at all yeah take him take him with your final pick yeah it did feel like that couple were kind of actors I was gonna say that to the whole thing about the extremely stage yeah you can't have that much coverage on camera stream to like leave the room and go to the bathroom and then close the door and open the door and then film it yeah and they were Mike and why did he leave it like if I'm puking no but they do have cameras go like during the bar recon yeah because so how are in the bathroom yeah I know they left the bathroom door open who goes into a single stall bathroom to throw up and leaves the door open I know he's on TV yeah I guess I don't know but the thing is so they have the cameras going around the whole time and they don't tell the people in the bar who the recon couple is but they know there is is doing recon so hidden camera in someone's clothes there's not even hidden camera because they got that cheesy horizontal line effect on the camera yeah it's like actually people walk you there's a camera crew there and then the hidden cameras are like very quick I think in the first season they used to call them cameras and then the second season they were like well they're like clearly they're not hidden right huge cameras they put up in the well and it's not like the owners know that they're that they're coming in and doing this show the funniest part of them playing connect for is like they know that there's a camera set up in their office watching them do that right but I mean the guy just stepped off the cover of high time he doesn't even know what he's doing the hooker episodes are pretty strong though I feel like that's not the only one there might be another one to yeah a few times yeah I mean my favorite is still the best clip well there's the pirates episode obviously but my favorite clip is the one with the raccoon in the bar or the horse in the bar anything with an animal I don't think we watch the horse the horse good the horse get in or do they have the horse there like a Western style bar yes of course in the bar but it's like crapping everywhere I think it takes a piss part of that like so they like have hired this horse or like yeah the horse is like yeah no it's like a bar is horse thing the raccoon was just there was a record yeah right fell into the sea there's a fucking raccoon yeah the raccoon cliff is yeah I will yeah that's the best we have some questions yeah we do we do other time just about yeah and I just about but I need to find a way to be longer my favorite part is like when they bring in the expert on whatever given subject they're dealing with on any given week because like it's exactly like the hookah cross-section sort of blueprint thing they'll like do like a splashy cut together thing of them like walking really authoritatively and it's like the born movies when like the CIA is like activating an ass but what kind of experts did they mix all of it is just like an Irish whiskey expert yeah the doctor is a bar scientist bar scientist that's right yeah that's real it's real it's very real you invented the but funnel invented it invented the but funnel which is not what it sounds like it's not a funnel you put in your butt oh it's like it's well yeah no but it's a way of I guess like funneling people in to like a room or a dance floor area where it's kind of narrow and it forces them to like make like contact with each other sort of and it gets people like so dance people are not like Instagram yeah like an actual but fun yeah yeah do you get a horn like if you do a but like an actual but funnel do you get horny as well as drunk faster I would say like horny before okay well kind of I talk about putting yeah talk about just a funnel itself yeah no just like booze also because it doesn't don't you get like really fucking drunk I think you get alcohol poisoning immediately do you I'm pretty sure like soaking like tampons girls are putting them in their vagina but then also in their in but in but also in but also in but you soak one in you so one in whiskey and one in ginger and then one thing one in the same makes like a cocktail highball oh my god it's more of a lowball is it hey you're all we folks that's the most appropriate time to close the time I'm gone by John see you next week man this has been fun so far but should we take a peek at the Twitter mail yeah we've changed it up this week so we usually we just the mailbag goes on for like 20 minutes and we're kind of like choosing the questions on the fly but this time we decided to be kind of professional and I think we're gonna do this from now on yeah where we're gonna choose the best three questions that's gonna encourage our listeners to actually write you know good questions top three of the week and we'll pick the top three and go in on those and and before we do this I have two more draft picks to make right now let's do this one of them be this Carter Hutton better than you could take with your last pick I would take Alex color maybe does the league value penalty minutes actually wait you more defense and still I'm too depends on you might want to take Johnny boy check is John Carlson still available and have both Carl I can't search because it crashes John after John so I just roll until I see I guess on Carlson will be long gone but now oh I like Golgoski yeah Golgoski looks great yeah and it looks pretty good too actually I just fuck it's auto traffic Carter Hutton you had the wrong Hutton well no I said oh you don't even see that right now the state like I see my guys who might know this is your last pick yeah oh shit Johnny boy check oh no no no no no I'll ask you go with us you Johnny boy Chuck sucks all right I'm gonna I got a good feeling about Carter Hutton well you should have to drop car yeah no no but then you can pick up no no I'll be dropping someone else that's a real ruse if you have one if you have both buttons then you can call your team glutton a button wow that's pretty good or hot and punishment yeah yeah that's a good or you could call your team but funnel that's that is the big intended also in but funnel yeah you can tell everyone's autograph because no one calls you up a drafting Carter hutton yeah exactly I also they've been in leagues with me before so I think they're all poor guy I really doesn't understand I feel like this is a good time to announce that we're making some changes to the show going forward including the fact that there will be donor exclusive episodes of real good show from now on yeah oh so yeah you can head on over to yeah patreon.com so it's real financially special donor episodes yeah so we're gonna do it's five dollars per month to get access to our or more episodes I mean that's the minimum five is the minimum yeah and you will get access to not only one conceptually special bonus episode every single month but we are only going to do a brief mailbag on the show the regular show but in a long dated mailbag in fact a mailbag only episode will drop once a month as well on the donor stream so is that right just for five dollars a month you get two donor exclusive episodes you sure do I'm not packing right that sounds like an amazing deal well less than title that's true way less than title it's less than Wendy's actually hell yeah even Jay Z can afford this absolutely so yeah I feel like we can roll that out yeah we're gonna release our we'll release our first donor exclusive in two weeks time so for the next two episodes are gonna be plugging this hard so if you're donating less than five dollars maybe think about upping your donation if you don't donate at all now might be a good time to drop out of university and give us five dollars and if you you know are on the fence about it can we tell the people what this month's donor exclusive episode will be sure yeah it will be Max Kerman from our house makes us triumphant return to the show it will be play by play of the real good show World Cup final do we know which teams are in that yet have you some not not in the final yet no I determined the final yet so we'll do that so yeah you will get our live commentary of the RGS World Cup final exclusively by donating I'm sure that will be a ton of fun so if you pay five dollars you can listen to three guys talk about a video game that you can't see yep that sounds like a deal to me and with that it's time to open the Twitter mailbag it's not a time it's not a time it's not a time time next question anything good in the Twitter mailbag this week boys well we're picking three things I hope they would be good yeah you know what they are we want to know what they are I actually don't know what they are okay well we did go over them the first question is from our GIS listener of the year Tom Hannah and he was just in the hospital with well he thought it was just a killer torsion but they tested his balls and his balls are okay yeah great ball reflexes yeah it was diverticulitis yeah which is not great no but he's out of the hospital now I think and he told me that because I said you know Brock Lesnar also had divertic to like this that's like the most famous case yes I feel like and he said unlike Brock Tom did not need to have any length of his intestine removed yeah I think Brock had like the worst cause he was like hunting in the in like Minnesota or something or was it even Canada probably can't know but I think yeah anyway just need to be nothing but vegetable or no vegetables nothing but me just innocent and yeah so he said that he beat Brock Lesnar in terms of diverticulitis there you go so Tom's question is if I had died what kind of memorial would I receive from you guys well Graham would play at it what song would you choose from a memorial to man you've never met but he was a listener the year yeah your favorite podcast oh well that does change the odds slightly I feel like the keyboardist is probably the best musician to play a memorial service you definitely want yeah the guy who just adds flourishes to the songs you can play Danny boy but call it Tommy boy and then change the lyrics to the movie Tommy boy that's that if I could use on your headset microphones so I could hear the keyboards with it over the tears of the audience yeah you definitely want to drown out that crying like a candle in the wind maybe I think there should be a candle in the wind for everyone who dives yeah I think I got a bear it's been a while what was the it was candle in the wind 99 Princess Diana yeah there's only been to was it 99 though was that the year I know it was 97 okay candle in the wind 97 we're doing for us we're doing for a candle in the wind 16 yeah no what's up with 99 okay you think enough people have died this year to get it I think I'm saving it for Elton John yeah yeah well maybe he's already got it written for himself yeah we're gonna trust someone else to know that Bernie Toppen is the one who's making the alteration hologram Elton John has own son funeral he's probably recorded the video I love that I love that in an all-white suit yeah so Tom to answer your question we don't know yeah I'm not talking about Elton John we've got Elton John's funeral what we fly to Akron for his memorial probably no other direct flights I know he said was like 24 hours here seems unlike me if you like put on periscope or something yeah we can even we can mail his jersey to his fiance she can drape it on his cat okay question number two yes a new format now and grandis for you from Steely Danzig and he asks I'm a scrams radio 3 show ask him how far he thinks you can throw a full open beer can and if he has done this before I mean I think I could easily now it would be different if it was a but like blue jay spurt on top can just as a for instance so let's use that okay I think I could easily clear all infants and at least come within striking distance of some kind of outfielder indeterminate ethnicity make a difference these Korean so I'm glad that you already answered that because of her little get weird stuff thrown at you one stage someone's a bronze stage once in Kingston Ontario and then she came down to the dressing room after and was like my broppy we didn't keep it man let's not stage and also no it's not how this works is that her way of like trying to like so this is weird to me because she wasn't like was it seductive was it like hey no she's bad it seems like a pants away yeah she really wanted it back and she thought we were perfect but she threw it I know yeah that's the only time that an undergarment has been thrown at you that's the only time an undergarment is on stage on stage yeah of course you never like a boot or like cops or something sometimes in the UK though the huck comes from the beer and I don't know if it's a compliment sorry I think they don't know either yeah I'm a third question this kind of brings us to our favorite segment this is from Noah Vanderhof and he asks this is for you again Graham what's the grossest internet video you've ever seen and you want to show it to John oh what's the grossest internet you've ever seen it's been so long this is you okay Graham just to fill you in this is the least popular segment of our show it's called John watches a thing and it's hard yeah okay you know it so yeah so I just wanted you to know that you don't like don't feel obligated that you have to answer it because it is by far our least popular segment on the show no one likes it so like if we just pass it over it's totally fun but you'd be disappointing no I and I would never do that also Stefan's dad paid to sponsor the segments that would happen regularly that is true well he paid one time I mean Adam it's a monthly it's a month and Adams is 50 a month so what's 80 is more than 50 oh thanks math man yeah I know I get it but just I don't really want to do this is basically the bottom line well we're going to I'm not really like technically he already had to watch a guy like hurl in a toilet that's true I didn't I you know how much I hate throwing up we've already been over this now also I just so we're aware that I get all 80 of these dollars what yeah that's always been the agreement if I if people donated specifically to make me watch a thing I got all the money so just keep that in mind fuckers okay I don't like seeing me searching I don't like that Stefan is like closing his eyes I don't know if I can find it it it's been a long time since I'm going to go I know no no no I can't do this no you have to wear goggles no no no what Stefan is turning away I'm not watching it I'm usually the purveyor yeah I get an idea of the website running live jasmine dot com address book okay so the poor is this a shit porn no it's I might subscribe it shit I don't know he's all seem like versions of the same video and it's gross but it's not what I was looking for I don't like this at all I don't like that you're so into this like you open up your computer right away and you're like yeah let's John over I mean you can show this no no I really don't want to oh my god ah what the fuck is that I don't even know what's happening and I knew it's growth ew was that okay wait a minute ah read the video description all right close it already was that okay like you go man sticking his head inside a woman's yeah but there was one so but how is that even possible ah should we watch the video again no no but was that we get like a tap or real was it I don't know oh my god forensic vigilant is vigilant a guy who's very familiar with the restaurant there's one somewhere where there's a bald guy and he has like swimming goggles on and they're outside and he's like I'm going all the way in and he puts his whole head into a ladies oh man I like this at all but apparently that's a genre video I just found three and none of them were the one I was looking for that's fake though right I also have a boner is that weird you would hope so like what about like break or pelvis no that did not that I don't know a baby is around the side well maybe yeah yeah maybe like kind of but not you know we know who's gonna like phone me about yeah you're mom will definitely be able to tell us the real good all like sex but listen to his friends and good knowledge well she was a nurse but listen to Graham was just framing his own head with his hands and it did look roughly the side of a baby he's right I don't come in a cannonball but that was great segment I hate this now I just shot his taken my hand I didn't even actually know I didn't even know what it was at first but it was like one of those things where I didn't know what it was but I knew it was gross you know what I mean where it's like it's so I caught a glimpse it looked like a walrus seal or something it definitely didn't yeah it definitely looked like something was being eaten the segment continues to be the worst thing ever happened when did you first see that when did you become privy to this because you definitely knew where you were going right now early internet that's the thing it's almost downloaded off Kaza or something and it's just yeah I'm watching a field trip I mean my whole life is a field trip now but before that area yeah we did those were high school days so worst elementary so that was a bogey great seven cool back city was great it did that to great trips great trips well it's got boring fast great it's great but we'll go from there because I think that'll do it for all we were gonna ask him the whole lot while you know this is quite a bonus kind of question for because yeah go ahead this is just subscribers every 30 seconds of silence for the fucking freeloaders exactly like the corn album follow the leader which the first thirteen silence courtesy of corn twelve tracks of silence before a track 13 it's on which meant I couldn't I couldn't on my old CD player my parents had I couldn't when I programmed it like you want to listen to the all-minute order yes why wouldn't you yeah I couldn't program some later songs because they didn't have enough right like right yeah exactly just too bad because all in the family I believe is tracked 20 I know a classic corn facts yeah I was just new metal no we talk about the show great yeah I I have a segment on the show about new metal and I figured you'd be a new metal fan was yes that's what I'm talking about what was your favorite new metal band I was a little bit yeah there's this is what I'm talking about I read cap I were really did the whole thing because you're like a little younger than me so you're at that like impressionable I was right there you would have bought yeah like I wouldn't have bought a cap but I was definitely that's nice I like that I knew there was a reason I wasn't excited you guys ever you guys should cover Limpiscuit tonight I can wrap most of no same I came into this world as a reject look into these eyes and you'll see the size of the place is charming like when Chris Pratt did forgot about Drake it's not quite a question of that but not my brain everyone that burns has to learn from the we so we get a question all the time yeah whatever the day joke whenever Stefan asks for sports questions the the question that comes in literally every single time multiple times for episode is what is sports and people think they're so funny ask a mess but when we said that we were having you on today people were like oh Tokyo police club like it was all like stop it it was all like I'm in Tokyo right now where's the police club or like it was all yeah can I join your club Graham because I'm a Tokyo police what's the two people listen to guys but is that your equivalent question of like our what is that what is sports for you yeah totally like a lot of you guys thought you're from Tokyo a lot of times seriously really oh yeah and you get journalist or fucking idiots perfect yeah okay that's fair like but you're saying is this like like have you got a recently like this is still like in a serious like video type interview like I thought you're from Tokyo no that you don't people ask a lot of time we have some called favorite color right and we're like to ask what's your favorite color right which is also something again like what I was saying before where it's not it's not like no one's like really passionate more the other like that's our weird question is what's your favorite color right I'm a boring question yeah that's it I mean it's right down the one word answer it's over right yeah well that probably brings us to your I mean who how you make guitar tones like that oh what's really genius what everyone knows well you need to have all black contact lenses you hear them in there yeah I'm a musician I know yeah point one two there's a reject look at these eyes and you see the size of the flames dwellin on the path is burning up my brain everyone that burns has to learn pain hey I think about the day I really went away my fellas came to hurt play right she stopped with my homies that she part and I'm just a sucker with a lump in my throat like a chump a like a chump a like a chump a really just keep going on this part like a chump no we're doing this we're doing the whole thing I want to do this on stage tonight with you I have a couple red caps we can just we can just put the red caps on let's just fucking do it that's just as the opening act I don't know we appreciate it part of the set part of the let's do it as part of Argentina like just yeah let's do part for yeah is nooking now it's time I think it's time to put it in the middle of song you're talking about your nine minute opus and it is one of my favorite songs by your band but it could be 14 but it could be 14 and it could be fine it could be nook absolutely in the middle all right well with that we'll head into our final segments already it's a happiest I've ever been on the show yeah we're all getting edited out we're not we're not you might not be aware of what happens to close up the show but we all make a cultural recommendation I like okay because usually we're very negative about sports and then we close up the show on a positive note that's wonderful yeah it's called one good thing the cherry on top of our cynical Sunday where we pick this is a song large yeah for sure that he's on the yeah yeah so gentlemen what do you like this week oh did I actually just played over the entire theme song you can't I don't have headphones on this week so I can't hear perfect I love it I'm gonna write my book whoa I know stepping on John's bit I am it's a Norma Donald's autobiography of course it's called based entry story and it's absolutely hilarious in opens the first page is spoke as dedicated to Charles Manson and then brackets not that one so it starts off great and it just keeps getting better I'm also currently reading it I don't know if I love it I like it but I don't love it so far yeah how far into it like 90 pages okay halfway all right just about I was kind of surprised like it's good but I'm not like it's just the writing styles to casual for me I know for sure for sure it definitely has his voice no question yeah I love the parts we pretend that his ghost writer is that he has a ghost writer's mad at you and calls him like the most detestable he would be the whole time I recently learned that Norm's brother is the CBC news Washington DC Neil McDonald's so much gravitate yeah it's really which was made all the more surprising that he you know has kind of the same humor I would imagine off the air as norm you grew up together the brothers are probably joke around in the same way I would imagine right you would think yeah you're looking like I know well the dollar boy I see that in the cafeteria yuck it up sharing a bonmy but that did surprise me to learn that anyways is that your one good thing no grandma do you like to go next yeah yeah I got a book I just finished it's not a comedy book that's okay it's called the whites it's by Richard Price and I did you guys watch the night of I didn't but I heard it was good it was pretty good I wasn't sure about it I don't know I was like a real sad we'll talk yeah I'll just I'll get you after this one yeah it's the guy that show and it's just it's like a new I'm in hat knee like you know like hung over old washed up night shift cops like barely solving a mystery while their lives fall apart sort of thing it's like a Joseph Wambov I don't know that is okay he wrote the choir boys and like about he was like an ex-cop and he wrote like a ton of books about cops I read several of them the blue knight is a really funny last name Wambov yeah it's good talking oh else I just read I should have done this instead that the Jack Reacher book they made the new movie out of just don't steal Justin's read normally does four or five so you're just never go back Jack Reacher yeah he just punches people well just don't recommend the trailer for the new Jack Reacher movies I mean I've seen that look pretty good I never saw the first one though but I heard it was great I haven't seen the first one yeah we're never talk as a villain I should have seen you actually like this is the perfect movie for you yeah yeah okay well I'll do that but I'm gonna recommend a movie this okay this is Netflix no it's not whoa I was it kind of slipped under my radar this news because I can't think we were too busy getting ready for the live show last month but Curtis Hanson passed away like two weeks ago and he is the director of many many films including like eight mile with Eminem he made that one that's not what I'm recommending great film more in line with the gritty crime that Graham was just discussing he's the director of my favorite movie of all time which I feel like I should recommend in honor of his passing which happens to be who framed Roger Rabbit LA confidential I do love that movie too though so you're not far from the mark on the prediction but LA confidential with like Guy Pierce Russell Crow James Cromwell Kevin Spacey it has an unbelievable cast everybody is so great in it and like it's just you know it's got that kind of brassy classic like Art Deco crime LA vintage feel to it I love the movie so much and just like you know film no art detective stories are kind of my jam and that is a very very good one and I would love to recommend it on this program because I have a door to do so yeah you do it everyone yeah well I guess it's my turn I'm going to recommend an album by a hardest called flock of Dimes the album is called if you see me say yes so I think I've recommended Y Oak on the show before yeah so lead singer of that band her name's Jen Wozner this is her solo project it's been like years in the making flock of Dimes it's kind of like a sort of electro poppy type thing but I also think she has like the best voice in the world so I'm like pretty excited about it and yeah it's really great I've been listening to it a lot so if you see me say yes flock of Dimes okay and if at a bonus check out her cover don't dream it's over by Crowded House with Sylvan Esso they did it on the AV club undercover which you guys have done before as well that's true and it is excellent so check that out also and with that that will do it for this week's episode our roommates is no one we recording in the real good studios here this evening John all by himself for the next few months anyways our intern is still deep Cove Brewers and the stillers fine sponsors of RGS live and we thank them for providing the beer for that if you want to stop on by and sample the beer that we were drinking during the live show you can do so Darlerton highway in North Vancouver as you drive into Deep Cove great spot to catch a drink and you never know you might catch one of your favorite podcast hosts there as well our guest today has been Graham Wright from Tokyo police club and Graham I genuinely do want you to know that I'm very happy that you took with us here you know at Tokyo police club at work this afternoon Tokyo police club on the podcast this evening and Tokyo police club at the Commodore later tonight you put it all together what do you got a Tokyo police club sandwich oh my god thank you ended with that I thank you for having me draft my fantasy team anytime we're but funnel yeah I really appreciate it and people should check out melancholy and the infinite radness yes girl all the way to the bottom your spotify that's why I brought it up earlier doesn't show up among the albums it's among the singles socks I'm just going down there okay part one part two melancholy and the infinite radness they're all great awesome what's your favorite song of the 10 not my girl okay it's the first track on the first one yeah just don't don't dive to do this afternoon at the peak it was great yeah and we'll close the show with it right now and so without further ado until next week I'm Justin Morris at Stefan Hach John Cullen oh and Graham be real be good be real good but final nice there we go I was between but funnel just saying Graham I was a good grad say head in a vagina man I was interesting how do you breathe like they must have come out real quick it's right it's normal no this guy was not at least not your bubble yeah maybe I just can't even logistically I can't even wrap my head back inside that you like an amniotic like a flu yeah you plug into like the fetus shit yeah you just get whatever the umbilical cord in there let's take a I don't think that's how the umbilical cord works I don't think it's just in there I don't think it's just a little thing when the mask pops down on airplane exactly so yeah you just get inside the vagina push the button yeah umbilical cord comes down and if there's already a child in there you do want to secure your own mask first
