Directed by Phil Alden Robinson and based on the novel Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella, the film tells the story of Iowa farmer Ray (Costner) who decides to build a baseball diamond in his corn fields after hearing a voice whisper "if you build it, he will come." The film co-stars Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta, Burt Lancaster, and little Gaby Hoffmann.
