Samhain is not just the Celtic root of Halloween. It is actually the celebration of a New Year. The Ancient Celts believed that Samhain was the transition between the season of light and season of darkness. This transition is where the veil is thin and where we can connect with our ancestors, but it also marks the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. As we move into the season of darkness, we begin a new cycle because everything starts with the darkness, the feminine. Think about our days that start at midnight, when it’s the night. The Energy of death-and-rebirth is present in many different forms right now. The Hindu’s are also celebrating Diwali right now.
