John employs images from the Old Testament prophets to reveal how the powers of the world stand on their allegiance to Satanic forces that have been in rebellion against God's plans since the very beginning. However, John declares that these powers will not stand, that the Kingdom of God will triumph, and the powers of this age will eventually realise their mistake at having aligned themselves with the forces of darkness.
