#62 Beyond Jargons

from Boju Bajai · host Boju Bajai

How do you talk about gender equality, when there is such a limited vocabulary to turn to in the Nepali language? How do people working at the community level communicate and disseminate ideas of gender equality and social justice from the jargon heavy handbooks and policy papers formulated by experts, and often in English? For #UnitedNationsDay, we explore the challenges of creating meaningful dialogue centering around the issue of gender equality in Nepal’s public sphere which have historically been built around male-dominated patriarchal networks. In the episode, we hear from individuals, who have been working in the area of gender equality and inclusion and what they are doing to ensure these conversations are accessible and resonate with Nepali women, across rural and urban settings. This episode has been produced by Boju Bajai in collaboration with the United Nations in Nepal.
