62 - Luis Matte, Messorem | From fan to factor, traveling the world, expanding community, spreading the good word on the freshest and best from Montreal.

Picture the graphic on the front of a can of Heady Topper, the famous white whale beer from The Alchemist. The drinker takes a sip from a glass and his head explodes with hops. Luis Matte was, and still is, that man. Luis was a wine drinker, his interest likely stemming from his father who dragged the family to wineries and vineyards on family vacations. In Luis’s adult life, however, all of that changed. It started with a Sam Adams Summer Ale, and in his pursuit of more of this beer, he was offered a Heady Topper. Luis couldn’t believe the flavor, he couldn’t believe a beer could taste that way. Luis’s excitement from that beer spread into a career of providing similar beer awakenings for the lucky patrons of Messorem or fans around the world lucky enough to attend one of their many tap takeovers. Luis is out there preaching the gospel of this hype brewery from Montreal. He does it with a gentle kindness and awareness that isn’t often found in the industry. He makes himself available to talk, available to have a beer with. He is building community one conversation at a time.
