62 - Mother-Daughter Relationships, Drama Therapy, Intergenerational Cycles & Human Connection with Ananda Fuchs & Margie Pankhurst.

from The Human Theatre · host Kelsey Buchalter

Hello Humans! Welcome to the 62nd Show housed in “The Human Theatre”.  I am so excited to be sharing today’s show with you in which we take a deep dive into the complexities of the Mother-daughter relationship (and any relationship really), Drama Therapy and how it works, creativity as a tenant of health, Intergenerational Cycles, the power of the mind-body connection, healing, trauma, Human Connection and so much more.  Our guests today are Ananda Fuchs and Margie Pankhurst.  Ananda is a a certified TRE practitioner and an experienced facilitator of holistic healing and development, education, dance training, and performance art with a passion for community upliftment.Ananda utilises a trauma-informed and healing-centred approach to the body’s stories with the primary aim of creating a safe space for others both in-person and online, incorporating principles of recovery, discovery, creativity and curiosity.  Margie is an HPCSA registered Arts Therapist (MA in Drama Therapy) who works in both private practice as well as non-profit organisations with children and adults. She fundamentally believes in the mental health-promoting properties of creativity and has a keen interest in the power of story: the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves. Intergenerational cycles are implicit in these stories. The question then becomes: what is the story I tell about myself to the other women who are part of my DNA: my mother, my daughter(s)?How do we make space to listen and to be heard by these women so that we acknowledge our separateness and our bonds?  More than that, Margie, Ananda and their colleague, Jessica Mayson, are hosting “Mothers & Daughters” - a series of three full-day workshops in the beautiful and serene suburb of Noordhoek in Cape Town, South Africa. The workshops will be held on the 4th, 11th and 18th May 2024. There will be a whole lot of nature, story, creative expression, embodiment, and connection.
