62 - "THE GHOST" WHO REFUSED TO DIE | Lt. Matt Urban (US Army) | WWII

Though wounded, Lieutenant Matt Urban forced himself to stand.   German machine-gun fire tore at the ground around him. His men were pinned down. A tank lurched forward in a grinding whine, its guns swiveling at them, hunting targets. Matt ignored the pain and the blood spreading on his side, snatching up a bazooka.   He dropped to one knee, sighted and fired. The rocket sizzled on its deadly path, the tank bursting into flames, the shape-charge boring a neat, glowing hole through four inches of hardened steel. Matt rallied his men, pulling wounded soldiers to safety.   Then he was hit again. Beyond what seemed humanly possible, he fought on for three more days until his body finally gave out.   The kind of courage Matt Urban showed against impossible odds was something his superiors had a hard time explaining, or the enemy accepting.
