The other way, I didn't even say anything about that fucking Blues Brothers game. Yeah. I looked that up, it looked fucking chewy. It doesn't, I didn't look it up, I didn't look it up.
Apparently there's a bit in it where they just rip their shirt and stuff and become really muscular and just have this like power to blast people back. I was like, what the fuck is this? And what relation is that to Blues Brothers whatsoever? I don't know if Dan Aykroy, or John Blue's being ripping their shirt and something else.
Thanks for tuning to tell me to watch radio everyone. You know, it's just caught us mid-chat about the Blues Brothers NES game, which goes down in history as one of the greatest co-op platformers of all time. That's what you're talking about when it makes us understand. Yeah, something like that.
Something like that. Yeah, I haven't since the previous episode, I have not gone back and checked out Blues Brothers, but so you're saying it ain't a good game. So it's not. I said, I won't worry about checking out now.
You're probably better off just reminiscing about that. Rosed to be glasses. Yeah, keep those tinted glasses on. Keep the member berries there and not go down up up again.
So this episode, mate, we had a good decent kind of catalogue of games we could have put against each other. And there's a load that we got in the back burner, but obviously we want to get Roadrunner against a fair competitor, don't we? That was our main, you know, classic game that we both very fond of. And we needed it.
Need a decent competitor. You came up with a gym too, which again was one of my favorite of mine. I actually did own that game back in the day. So I think a good game to go up against Roadrunner different game, you know, it's not.
It's vastly different styles, but I think they both have a little something. They were going to say quite a bit. They could be good. Well, so before we went on on a mere matter of being chatting about Roadrunner and pugs, leads and all this sort of stuff, and I'm just going to just read out.
Well, I say read out. I'm going to just put a little retraction statement out there on some things I've said previously on Turbo Sports Radio that I want to just apologize for and put right and then we can move on, you know. So if you can just give me a second, mate, is that right? If I just take that.
No, no, it's fine, mate. I think you take the time you need to get these things off your chest. Yeah, I feel like I need to. So I think it was on episode 59, plot versus claim mates.
It might have been actually might have been a pugs, but I think it was previously to that. I was talking about how Roadrunner, you know, I've completed Roadrunner one of the worst games in history and we'll get more into that later into the issue. But basically I've been caught on the record saying that the skidding feature on the game. So when you're running and you stop and you kind of carry on for a little bit longer than you should do when you actually want to stop your character just proceeds to carry on.
I've been caught on the record saying that I actually liked it and I was fond of that. And that's why I then backed up on the next one by saying I liked it in pugs, and he's scavenging a hunt as well. Now this week, as I always do my research, mate, you know what? You know what?
I like to do my research. You are in depth. I'll give you that. Yeah, I've been playing Roadrunner.
And this is where the retraction comes. It is the worst idea to put a little skidding feature in. I know he's going quick. I know Roadrunner.
If you don't know what Roadrunner is, obviously a Looney Tunes character runs really fast and skid. So he's got a little skidding feature when you need to slow down. But to think that that works in a game, I'm just going to put it out there, it was the worst idea ever. And I'm just going on a record to say that I apologize to all our listeners.
To you and Ben specifically, for me finding that good fight for a long time. Yeah, I've had it finally come round, mate. It's been a long time coming. I don't know what anyone would think it was a good design feature.
Well, I think it was, you know, it was obviously the arrogance 11 and, you know, the pride fucking with me, the fact that I did complete that game. And I never met anyone else who did. I mean, I've never met anyone else who played it apart from you and Ben anyway. But I completed that and that was on my CV.
You know, I put that on my CV. But now, you know, going back and playing the same shit games we did, you know, played 20 years ago, whatever. I'm going to take it back and say that it was that scared feature specifically. We'll get it more into the game later on, but the scared feature is the worst idea you can ever have because you complete your ruins everything.
None of these games we're discussing have survived the test of time whatsoever. So it's not like we're looking back now and going, oh, I remember being brilliant. It was shit at the time, mate. It was shit at the time.
It was like, the scared lasted longer than half the platforms you had to land on. So it was physically impossible to land on them because your skidded goes longer than the fucking platform. So I mean, well, that's actually for completing it because again, you're the only person I've ever known who's completed it. But that was out of three of us.
That's the only people I know who played it. So on the Pokesy Scavendon Hunt versus Busta Busta Loose episode, I was using a new technique in my emulator. When I was using the tenant, yeah, exactly the tenant technique. And if you don't know what the tenant technique is, you need to watch Chris Manolian's most recent film, Tenet.
And basically, you can kind of go back in time, but still go forwards in time at the same time. So really kind of like what you can do in a video game, try and make a jump. You fuck up. I can just quickly pull that back and then take that jump again.
But the problem, I'm going to put it with Earthworm Jim, mate. I'll just hammer that out. I'm a pro at Earthworm Jim too. So I didn't really...
You've heard of Earthworm Jim too. Again, that's a bit like Busta Bust Loose in a sense. You can smash it out and that out. Yeah, which I did.
Is it good coming over to go get me for dinner game? Yeah, exactly. And you weren't really that bummed if you didn't complete it. You turn it off.
Sometimes you're actually mum. Can I keep it on? Can I just keep it on? Even overnight?
Oh, yeah. You just had to ask. You didn't leave it on your ass because, obviously, you know, you've got to put 50 p's in the cupboard. But with Earthworm Jim too, I didn't mind just turning it off.
Because really, you should have completed it by then anyway. If you knew your dinner was at six and you came back at R3-4, you should have completed it already, shouldn't you? Yeah, we next up. More than I've done.
But anyway, where were we? You don't have a tenet in Roadrunner. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So tenet in Roadrunner, right?
It doesn't work. Because you'll turn it. You'll try and make that jump, mate. You'll turn it.
So mid-jump and you've missed it. Or you've shot too far. You turn it back. You're going to be skidding it.
Yeah, the skid. The skids are factor with a tenet. You don't think about that anti-kind of friction thing going against you with a tenet because every time you land, you're still skidding. So you can't affect the skid because the jump's already been made.
So the only way to affect the tenet with Roadrunner, which is awkward because Roadrunner can't change. Once he's in the air, he can't turn left or right. He can't change direction in the air. No, just go on.
Just hover backwards. So the only way to use a tenet is to get it mid-air and then check itself a little bit. Tap the opposite direction. You're jumping a little bit to counteract the tenet when you actually land.
It wasn't enjoyable. That sounds like you've made that game worse yourself, by the way. How can I make this game skitter? I know.
I'll add this extra tactic to it. It makes it more difficult. Glutton for punishment. Yeah, we need to be released.
Imagine Chris McNell would be on board without a game, but I can't think of his way off. Yeah, so basically, I got to the first boss. Let me just put it out there in Roadrunner. So in Roadrunner, you get to enjoy it.
You've got his gun, start smashing people up. You're enjoying it straight away. Roadrunner, you're not really enjoying it straight away. You're trying to figure out the game, which is, you know, you want a game to be intuitive.
You want to be able to pick it up. Find the nuances, but it still should be kind of ready to go. If you're a good game, if you played Mario and you're good at Mario, I think you should be any platform you should be able to just figure out pretty easily. Roadrunner's not like that.
And then you get to the first boss, which is like the cap, while you've got a catapult that's sitting in some cactus, you've got to pick it like the mechanism that fives a catapult. Yeah, I know. Mate, that is a hard boss for a first boss. And you don't, and you still haven't got grass, what this character is doing.
Yeah, it's not fair. Yeah, that's a game in a nutshell, don't mean. It's just, it's too hard and it's not fair. I think someone thought, what are the good games at the moment?
They went, everyone loves Mario and everyone loves Sonic. And before, can we combine that together? Oh yeah, I've got a best idea, mate. We stick roadrunning, he's like Sonic, but put like a platform level, so he has to jump all over the place.
Kids will love it. They're fucking perfect. No, it doesn't work. He's trying to be fast.
He's like, I make it really fast. So, but like on Sonic, you just run in one direction, just fast running to the end. That's what you've got to do. You've still got to jump left, jump right, go up, go down, and dodge this, get that.
And it's like, that works well for us, like Mario, but it doesn't translate when you're going to fucking million miles an hour. It's a shame that you went at the Sunsoft, Nintendo summit when they were bringing that to the... I say I go, they didn't want me, mate. I tell you, every time I hear you making a road run again, and I've looked at you for your ideas, and I think we need to go with it.
I'm having to come and speak to you, but they don't even invite in 11-year-old boys over there. Me, I don't know why. Well, all I can say, mate, is, don't bust now, ain't they? Don't bust now.
You're going to have to, mate. Yeah, I can imagine Chris or Dave or Chris and Dave standing up nervous, you know, like Dragon's Den sweating a little bit, and they go, you know, we've got an idea for the next platformer. And like you said, they said, you like Sonic? They looked around nodded, you know, Susan's even nodded, she's the secretary.
She didn't normally talk or get anything out of her, but she nods as well. You think it's a good idea. You know, good idea. Yes, yes, yes, yes.
You like Mario and everyone. Well, that was a verbal. Yeah, of course, you like Mario. You know, someone even said it, you know.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, someone's getting a bit shirty and kicking off at the back. Yeah, come on, get to it now, mate, because you're insulting me. And he goes, well, you like both of them, and everyone's excited.
Everyone's waiting for the next click on the PowerPoint and they're really... Oh, they're not cracking. They cracked it. They cracked it.
This is the cost of millions they've been in here. And then he clicked over and it went... Like in Roadrunner. They went Roadrunner.
Yeah, yeah. Kids love Roadrunner. They said, do the kids love Roadrunner. They love him.
Not all the kids talk about it. On the street, they've got the Roadrunner T-shirts. They've got the Roadrunner sneakers. They've got stickers and they've got the stickers.
Everyone's going around Roadrunner bikes. He's a big thing mate. Everyone loves Roadrunner. Are you sure he's talking about Roadrunner?
Yeah, yeah. He did that something. Dude Roadrunner. You know, he's talking with his dad, dole, and that's Roadrunner.
Are you sure that's Roadrunner? Yeah, that's the Roadrunner. They love him. He's brilliant.
Yeah, I signed off. He's fired up. Let's go. Roadrunner.
Oh, I do the Roadrunner. Don't have a Roadrunner, man. The Roadrunner. They love him.
They love him. Are you sure you're all about the same thing? Yeah, Roadrunner. Yeah.
Really mate. You should have been there to stop that happening. I'll say I'll have to mind that mate. Hang on.
Before we go any further, what is the mechanic when he's running along and he needs to stop? Streets. Fuck it. Forget him, mate.
No, he's never going to work. No, no, no, no. Kids love that. They love that.
No, we had rides on the phone. No, we had rides on the phone. We could say we're brilliant. Don't listen to him, mate.
30 years time. If you're assuming we're tripping about that mate. Don't listen to him. Yeah, very true.
The thing is Mario, if we're going to break it down a little bit, Mario did have a slight screech and Sonic had a slight screech. Now, I can appreciate Sonic having a screech. He wasn't really needing it. He's going around looking at the loops and everything.
He's not really using it. There's no real platform skills in Sonic. You start occasionally and the Swimmons are a little bit harder and obviously you've got to find the bubbles. That's a different deal.
But I understand the screech in Sonic. Mario has a micro screech, doesn't he? It's a perfect kind of just comes out of his heels. Yeah, but if you want to make him turn, he's got a little bit of a...
So if you jump and then he's turning the other way, he goes like a little... Yeah, and that works. That works. Yes, not that.
It's like Road Runners going through treacle. Every single time you just can't, you're turning it and it isn't going to go. It's just, hold on. Now it is.
That's our tenet of ten times getting over that fucking ledge because I was just firing through the left. It's screeching more than he's running though, that's the thing. It's screeching to make me what you're doing. Yeah.
Yeah, or trying to jump backwards after you've jumped too far on a platform. That's literally a story of that game. Oh, fucking jump. That's it.
That's it. Reset done. Playing over him Jim too instead. Yes, did that, that boy.
Well, let's move over to over him Jim too, mate, for a second. Obviously, played. Started that today, completed it. No tenet needed.
I own that game. I was good at that game. But if we're going to kind of, it's quite a wacky game, you know, just putting it out this. It's pretty wacky and somebody ideas.
Although kind of groundbreaking and very creative for a video game, for its time, some of it probably is a little bit like, you've just taken it a bit too far there. You know, you could have held back on seven of those ideas. I just needed three of them. Yeah, I mean, I didn't play it.
I mean, I'm looking through these stuff as men, but I did watch a video, obviously, I'm a paper for it. And I was watching it. I was thinking, like, this game is kind of annoying, actually. Like, just watching it.
I'm thinking, this is probably a pretty annoying game to play. Because, like you say, remember when we sent back block and how it was, that was literally one level over and over again. With everyone, Jim too, it is literally like seven different games, more things than one. Every level is different on it.
But it just is a bit like, frut me, as an irritating to watch. Yeah, exactly. Like, for example, I go through a couple of them off top of my head. So the first level just kind of gets you into this new, you know, kind of post-apocalyptic wasteland sort of place, caverns, this, and other stuff, and you get to use your gun, you get to jump around, it teaches you to use a little snot parachute and everything like that.
So it warms you into it. Kind of gives you little aspects of what you're going to use throughout the whole game in that one level, mate, in the first one. So, you know, as a first level, bringing you in, it's a lot stronger than road runs first level, which is a barren wasteland. The varder or wherever it is, the valley that is supposed to be set.
At least, at least, at least, at least, at least, at least, at the earthworm, Jim's going to warm you up to it. I mean, again, flying octopus, I know, that's where I say the word wacky, because it's like, we could have, I know earthworm Jim, if you watch a cartoon, it's similar sort of thing, you know, the classic tongue-in-cheek overly pun shit that they come up with. Cow is getting, he loves cows. He does, yeah, he does like the cows.
Remember that? Yeah, when he puts the cows, the cows say, well done to you, between every episode. Do you remember that, mate, and you press basically? I do remember that.
Yeah, depending on what, what on you press they go, they say the different. Well done. Well done. I mean, I think mainly that was the only reason we played that game is because, like, a game where Robuels was there, we could well down each other.
Well done. Well done. They said, well done in a really fantastic manner, became, like, a thing for quite a while. Well done.
Well done. Well done. Well done. Well done.
But yeah, talking about that first level, it was good. In every one of Jim, you've got to go through one of the levels and you've got to pick up cows, obviously, and milk them in. And milk them in. And milk them, yeah, exactly.
But in the first level mate, you've already got to pick up a couple of pigs to get you through somewhere. So it's not leaving you, leading you blindly into that level. You know, if that led you blindly into that level and didn't tell you to do, yeah, I'd slag off a little bit more, because it already kind of said, pick up this pig, and it even says press down when you're playing it on the screen. Tell you what it is.
Oh yeah, give your hands down. That is good, yeah. Yeah, so it's, although annoying, the gameplay and also just the whole setup is a lot stronger than Roadrunner. You seem to be quite involved with it.
I was willing to concede, because I know I've always wanted you as a Roadrunner man, and I know you always talk about how much you love Roadrunners. So I was willing, after the publicly-tiny change draw, I was willing to concede to give you a Roadrunner, because I was watching everyone, I was thinking, I remember that game, and again, it's one that I've played a lot. Like, I did enjoy it, but just looking back to it, I was thinking, that's not it. Well, that looks terrible.
Like, just watching it makes me think I'm irritating. And I do remember, like, the dog level, the bouncing dog level, there was like two different levels on that, which annoyed me, and that dog level, but it's also the one where you're flying on a rocket, and it's like a shoot, a shoot of fun. That level, if you went wrong, like, slightly on that, that was game over for you. That was the end.
And I think everyone did was one of those games where I learned to race with it. I was like, fuck it. If I didn't get that dog one the first time, that's going off, and if I got somebody flying snort level, and I didn't do it the first time, again, I was out of the window. So let me just talk about that, what ever-loon kind of thing that we were talking about.
So, if you're, I mean, again, and I say this every time, but if you haven't seen, if you haven't played these games, or you can watch these games, I'd probably pause us now and have a little refresher, or just go with it, don't worry about too much. But if you're going to fly, he's got a little rocket, really mate, isn't it? It's like a rocket. Yeah, he's got a rocket.
Pulls out his backpack or something, don't you? Yeah, something like that. But he's basically got, so it's almost like you're playing, I'm trying to think what game it's like mate. It's kind of like a flying game, where it's this game.
Yeah, so what would you kind of got a name for the shooting, like the plague was in 1942, this sort of blip and block where they called this, or the flying and shooting games. Yeah, flying and shooting game. And Jim on his little rocket has got a, well, he's got a push, this hot ebb balloon that's full of an explosive material. I don't know what's inside of it.
I might say TNT, I can't remember what it says. It probably just says bomb, be you and the big, big bomb there. Yeah, something like that. So you've got to take this and you've got to get it all the way to the end of the level, just nudging it, because you can get greedy mate.
Sometimes you give it a big nudging it, then it'll take off the screen. It can not decide off internet. I might have to do something, can it disappear or you do something, and blow it up too soon and that's it. Yeah, exactly.
And also you've got little, these fat people are getting catapulted at you from the landscape, underneath you, they're getting catapulted at you. They're going to hang onto you to try and weigh down away. A couple of fat people, they look like, he hombur from Street Fighter is getting sent at you. So proper heavy all boys.
We can have a lot going on there in the beginning for a while. I mean, he had a big fight, but he needs a pain of build, so he was happy to jump onto that game. Yeah, exactly. We had a lot of money, but he did the right out of it.
Hey, for the conservatory, didn't it? So he took it. Oh, that's a nice conservatory as well mate. So it's not an orangery, sorry, you have to call it an orangery.
He does get funny, but I know he's had a couple of like evenings every Honda. Couple. Oh, you're lucky bastard. We can friends with him on there.
I've got that for an guy who we've gone quite well. Really? See, I've been in every day time, little drink. I think the FA Cup was on and a few people weren't just me.
I've got a few people around and had a couple of little beers with him. Everyone thinks he drinks a sake, but you don't like it. He does not like it at all. He's not into that at all.
He's like, he's like, I'm Redford, isn't he? He does not like it. He's like, he's cut back because that's, you have a couple of living you mate and you go crazy. He's like slapping hands on over the place.
He's like, no, he's not good. Yeah, he's one of those people who you hand in the diet ball when he fucking abs. You know, that obviously is 100 hands slap that he gives people. If you try and hand him a diet coke, he's that kind of masculine.
He'll see that as you question him. If you give him, say, yeah, I have a diet coke. I have a diet coke. 100 hands chop you out.
And he sort of calls like me. I like a cause like the low carb lifestyle. Right. He's actually like.
And I mean, when I go round the Hondas, I'll just take back again. I won't even worry about that weekend. I'll write off and I'll just say, because Edmond, Edmond, and I'll call him that. He's like, oh, he's a little kick off.
You get way to call him Edmond. He doesn't listen to us so much radio. So I should be right. Yeah, he'll be right for that.
I mean, I haven't been around this for a while. I've not seen him for a while. I know he's all right. I mean, obviously, we've got Coronavirus lockdown.
I mean, he's a big man. He has got some medical conditions going on. So I mean, I haven't heard from him. I do have a lot of these.
He's all right. Best of luck. Yeah. If you listen in Edmond, give us a little message.
Give us a little message. We are worried about you. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Just pass the door. Just pass the window. Just let me know you're all right. That's fine.
I think he lives close to you. Don't he make? So maybe... He's not fine.
He just had a road from here. I'll give him a ring and check his all right. Yeah. Just give us a big, big, big front door.
I didn't see him. That wakes him up. Oh, he hasn't like that. I'm not telling him to laugh.
I have to happen between him and God. I'm not doing something rude on him. That's not you. You never went down.
We have to talk about here, but you know what went down. Yeah, we won't talk about here. So anyway, what I was saying, mate, is that Eonda is throwing up from Jim's... Yeah.
And if you try and shoot him down, you try and shoot you Hondas, you shoot too many times, mate. You're going to blow that air balloon up. Like you said, that's game over. That's the end of the level.
If I'm just going to move over to the puppy, the dog level. Oh, yeah, the bat is amazing. He has him puppy level. Again, if you haven't played this game, just go along with it.
You've got the bad guy. He was like a space crow on one side. And you've got... I crowed him with it.
Yeah, I crowed him with it. Yeah, I crowed him. And you've got Earthworm Jim's best mate who's a proper bipolar schizophrenic. Can't like Jack on a high dog.
If you get angry, turns into a fucking monster and attacks his best mate. Good old boy, any. Who's that sound like? I think it's Facebook's army boat now.
Lovely fella. But as soon as you are, yeah, you stick it in the wrong way. That's it. Yeah, ending times.
So anyway, so side crow is lobbing all these puppies, which if they hit a ground, they do splatter. So, you know, it was pretty gruesome for its time. But Earthworm Jim's holding his big marshmallow. And it is a big marshmallow.
Tell me what it is, mate. Is it a big marshmallow or is it something else? No, I mean, probably, yeah, that's a big marshmallow. It's nothing else you describe as.
I was thinking about what you were just saying about those puppies actually being splattered. I forgot that they do chop on the floor and then they do just splatter. They just splatter. They just splatter.
Yeah, they do the class of transparent kind of just fade out into the ether, which they could have easily done. You know, just fade it out like everything else dies like in Streets of Rage or Turtles or something. Just fade out in between lives. But no, they splatter into like an orange, yellow mess.
I mean, that's what you're talking about to be fair. There's a lot of puppies that have died from people getting that game. I mean, that's a lot of dead puppies. I generally feel bad now, but not puppies I probably did for the floor and explode.
So, probably because it's a lot of things in puppy dads. I mean, I do avoid guys now. Yeah, well, sometimes in that, so basically anyway, the crow is lobbing the puppies out and you've got the marshmallow and you've got to bounce them. I think it's about three or four bounces.
You know, they kind of have a loop of a certain distance and you've got to keep bouncing on your marshmallow and then get them into this funnel that takes them into their kennel where your dog mate is. I think it's kind of a dad's kennel. Yeah, and then occasionally the crow, the bad guy will throw a bomb with it and then you'll bounce that into the kennel and then a dog will throw it back into the side crows else, which is, I mean, I don't know why they live near each other. They're fucking like a neighbor.
No, no, no, no, they don't do not. They get on to be fair. They're terrible neighbors. Yeah, and he throws it up.
And I'm not really sure why that one's not because he's got all these thousands of dogs at his house. It's even really, it makes no sense. Yeah, yeah, like unlimited infinite dogs that you've slobbing out of it. But yeah, you throw the bomb.
At least three at a time as well. Like he could just eat chugging millions of dogs out and just blow them on the floor. He's like, no, I do three at a time just to be fair. And the other dog goes fucking mental.
And if he just goes fucking mental and he'll eat that crow and then this is so slow. But again, he does it. He waits for you to drop a puppy. Then he's like, right, I'm fucking you now.
I'm not one of those fucking chugging out my house. I'm trying to work with you. You drop one of them and say I'm fucking with you to tits. I mean, they make no sense.
That's what I'm saying. I hit a base no sense. That's going to give you four chances. You've got to kill four puppies, mate.
I'll do it. I mean, I have to say, I mean, I don't really. Like, kill one of their kids. Yeah, they're not too fast.
Like two or three. They start to get a bit annoyed. But that's four of one. That's it.
Game over. You kill four of my kids. I'm living now. I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm telling you, I'm attacking you now.
I mean, that's realistic. I'm going to do it. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly.
I'm telling you, it's a bad idea to kill by someone. That's a bad idea. Yeah, yeah. By any macros or any other.
Oh, dogs. Yeah. Oh, dogs. Worms, cows, anything like that.
Yeah, but the good thing about that level, mate, and obviously, I think you've revisited it three times, the good thing about it is it's not your kind of bullshit filler mini game. It's actually, when you get to that level, it's like, I have to fucking concentrate, which is good. Where is the filler? It kind of just keeps you going with that little repetitive jester style music in the background.
You do have to concentrate. So it's not like we're bust a bust loose where they give you those mini games and you're a bit, you know, like, get on with it, at least with this. But I would probably say maybe using it three times is a bit of a piss take, you know, I don't know about you, but it's maybe one too many. Now, I mean, freeze imagine number, and one, one, it's just a level.
Two is, two makes no sense. You've got to be free. It's not being a number, otherwise it doesn't work. So it's got to be like five.
They did five. That's madness. Four doesn't make sense. It's why you do four make.
Freeze the perfect number. It might be as a gaming, as a gaming genius. Yeah, of course. So you've watched a game recently, mate, obviously.
Do you remember? Do you mean obviously you've got different guns? Oh, yeah. Was there a favorite gun?
Can you remember a gun that you liked in it? Or did you just stick with a classic earthworm Jim orange or red gun? No, I mean, the, the, the, the, the three that stick out. There was the free finger shooter.
I remember that was quite a good one because that's all did. And I was scared. That was quite good. Yeah.
And that was the big blue one that was, you only got that occasionally. Like a big rocket, suppose that was a good one. And a fucking bubble gun, which was like, why is that even on there? That was just, what's that about?
I'm getting caught up the time, you've only got that and that. No. I'm getting it. Yeah.
I've got, I've got, I've, I've dreamt this or, or this is, it actually happened. But I'm sure like, for years and years, didn't have a fucking clue what the bubble is doing. But I think the bubble gun does do something to some bad guy. I've got a funny feeling.
Yeah, I've got a funny feeling it works under, it works for something. I've got a fucking, I'm sure it does. Right in the let us know. Give us any over the tooth and that let us know.
But I'm sure, like as far as I was about, the bubble gun was just like a comedy weapon and it was just a bubble gun. If it actually affects something, I generally want to know. So it's a bit like when you told me the pugly bomb smash. I never knew that and that, I changed my perspective on pugly after.
Well, it's similar to pugly's little bum, bum attack. You can use, come back to Roadrunner for a second. I'll be in a pro that I am. You can, so Roadrunner can attack people with his screech as well.
So when he does his break, you can actually take out those snakes and those scorpions with his sweet gen attack. And then later on you get in the game, unless you kind of remember to use that. Well, I don't know why I just use his little peck that the same, you know, you press A, the same where you pick up his bird seat to get his boost tower. So God, I know that he's actually bad, he's on it.
Yeah, there's a couple of snakes and scorpions, mate. I just remember seeing him just running. Yeah, mostly and then you get found out by a snake or a scorpion. Yeah.
I get awful. Yeah, I mean, I do, it's funny that in that sort of era, you had to have some sort of space shit going on, didn't you? Because obviously in, in Earthworm Jim II, when you've got to move the cows and take them back to the the Milken Station or whatever, there's a UFO with others hilariously trying to... Oh, yeah.
That was a heart in the X-Files, wasn't it? So it was like, you guys have some sort of cow mutilation, X-Files, kidnapping, cow type thing in there. So they had to be able to try to space it out. We had to also have like an X-Files slash gimmick in it as well, mate.
Because I'm sure the last level in Roadrunner was a space level as well. I'm sure Marvin the Martian's not going to be about that one as well, if I'm not mistaken. So you've got your... If I'm honest mate, I never got that far.
So if you tell me anything happened on that last level of Roadrunner, I've got no idea. So yeah, I'll just go with you mate. Yeah, that's definitely was on there. I was definitely able to.
Oh, well, if you haven't played it mate, I'd say it. So you know the blues rubbers in the last level, they actually knock about with you. You know, they kind of like... You know, when you get a wasp in Captain America and the Avengers, and it kind of just angles off the front of you and that flying level, I think it's the second level in the American Avengers.
Kind of like that, but you've got the blues rubbers. Oh, nice. Dan Aykroy just goes off and headbutt to people in front of you. I mean, he's only headbutt in scorpions and snakes, but that's what happens.
And then old, he just hangs back a little bit. You know, he ain't flying too far. I mean, that makes sense. Dan Aykroy's more active than too, any.
Yeah, a lot more active than these days. They're just like, you know, kicking a scorpion in the tits or something later on. Once it's on the floor, dead. Yeah, that should have been the end of the road runner.
The blues rubbers with him at the end. While he can go out, he falls, but then a boss after the boss, and then a big scorpion comes up with tits. Obviously him and then Dan Aykroy obviously helps you out a lot because obviously he's more active than that too. And then right at the end, last hit, it just automatically just turns you to the balloushi.
Just straight over, just hands over and then you just go kick it in the tit and win. And then after that, I think Tony and Euch turn up. Not Tony, not Tony. Probably on the film.
Adrian, I thought it was going to be. Well, I thought we were a dog. I thought we were a dog on his brother. Go on with him.
Who's brother? Yeah, yeah. Blue bro, John Belushi. You know, James Belushi.
Oh fuck. What's that film with him and a dog? Oh God, I think I watched that last year. Oh for fuck's sake.
I think it's just called K9. Is it? I liked it. I thought it was good film.
I think it was up as well, Denny. I mean, the jokes were on flat now, so I got his fucking title wrong. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He turns up as well.
Yeah, exactly. And it plugs the film. Then it affects everyone and everyone has a love meeting. Yeah.
They were the days. They were the days. They were the days. Yeah, so let me just, I'm just trying to break down a couple more.
Yeah, so I do like in both, if I'm going to give credit to both games at the same time in mate, they've both got a nice bit of comedy in there, not taking it themselves too seriously. Opening the world up in terms of just, we can just joke. We know you're playing a video game. It's all right.
Don't worry about it. I'm a little bit tongue-in-chick the whole time. So things like with the end of each level of Roadrunner at the end of each boss. The fat lady turns up.
Oh, yeah. But again, they're the same stuff. They're trying to, they wanted to make it like the cutting run next. And you were sort of playing the cartoon.
So the same as like, tiny tunes was. They wanted to make it like the cartoon. I do think Roadrunner did the cutting thing better than tiny tunes. I do think tiny tunes was a better game.
In the media category, I think tiny tunes was a better game in Roadrunner. But Roadrunner did do the cutting type style with. Yeah, it just kind of, it still kept the, even like at the start of the level, still be the freeze frame and kind of do the little Latin description. Yeah.
Descriptives of each character. And it was, you know, nice little touches. But yeah, overall gameplay, Buster Buslouce is definitely definitely a superior game in the, yeah. In the, in the, in the early 90s, cartoon style.
Yeah, yeah, exactly. But I do like, you know, with Earthworm Jim again, without comedy, what the fuck is that game? I mean, that's all that's got really in it. It's got comedy and it's got, uh, cows.
That's, that's what it's got. Comedy, cows and snorke. I will say it does have a touch of Monty Pfeiffen in there as well mate. You know, so right at the end, once you, I mean the last level, I'm just going to put it out a bit of the last level.
You're having a race with, uh, side, the murdering motherfucking neighbor of your dog mate. It was loving a dog's out the window and killing them all when you got to save them with marshmallow. We talked about it earlier. You're just racing him as the easiest level ever.
It's so easy. It wasn't a problem. Like as the last level goes, like that's when you, sweaty palms come in and you're under pressure. This, this is the last level that you're not under pressure at all.
You're kind of just pissing it. They do. Yeah. It's like, I don't think, like, that's what makes it.
I'm a tiny tune. Makes it like a classic, classic before teetongue game, ain't it? Because there's, there's nothing, it's like, if you play Mega Man and you sort of, you get through all the eight levels, you get all your upgrades, but then you get to the last level, you have to fight all the baddies against you, fight six different, or eight baddies, how many was eight baddies, and then you got to kill like another baddie, then another baddie, and then finally you get to wily, and he's always a bastard. You've got to kill him like three times.
Like that in itself could take you like a fucking hour. If you're beating Mega Man, any of them, pick one. If you're getting through that before tea, coming back from school and getting that before tea, before you're burguing chips on and on the plate. I mean, fair play, baby.
You must be on the speed runs because I work doing that. I was getting into whatever fucking power moth, what was a moth moth moth moth fucker, he always gave me trouble. I think it was next, maybe X2, right, let us know, there was a moth, mad psycho moth or something like that, I can't remember where his fucking name was, but he was so slow, but I just couldn't work out his rhythm in Mega Man. That would take me an hour to pick a him out, let alone everyone else.
I mean, you're definitely using the passwords on Mega Man, but you're not, I mean, I was doing that, I mean, I probably could do it sitting in the background, but I mean, you were using passwords before you teetongue. You're mum's only to turn off, and again, my sister's coming down downstairs, sweet valley's on the TV, she's kicking off, so I've got to switch off and she's got to let her watch it. So, yeah, I mean, that's a password game that was. Yeah, exactly, but good, you know, at least, I like that, you know, obviously they didn't have the space to stick on the cartridge, as we well know, you know, you've got to save space, especially if it's not Mega Man, you know, there's a lot of suits, well, you know, a lot of upgrades of the armor and everything like that.
So, you've got to save the space without Robin in saving it for actually saving the game, but stick on the password out there, mate, you know, and you have to write those motherfuckers down. That's like four lines of password, wasn't it? I went just one line. No, it's like a little dot when it is like a grid, and there's like a little dot in one of those bits of the grid, so you have to literally draw a grid and draw a fucking circle in it to make sure you get back to the right place.
Where's the fucking good game? Even the first Mega Man, if you've gone back and played that, mate, it's quality. It's so good. It's already, it's like playing Zelda or whatever, it's just got the right weight early doors, even on the NES, you know, it had the right weight.
When a game's got the right weight, you know it's all right. I'm like Roadrunner, which does not have the right weight. The weight is probably half of its problem. Well, with Mega Man though, Mega Man, I thought it was a different game, like the reason Mega Man's on the NES, and then Mega Man X's were, I don't think Mega Man X's were as difficult as the NES Mega Man's, but they weren't tricky games, so I had to figure them out.
But Roadrunner was a tricky game, but it wasn't a good game. And that's a good problem. It's like it's not a good game, so it's like a difficult game, so it's making it difficult, but you have to make it good. And that's the thing, they didn't make Roadrunner good.
Well, yeah, that's kind of what I was trying to get into a long wind away doing it, but... You're breaking down, people are like snapping these days. It's like a dual battle for you, mate. Space Force perhaps.
Yeah, it's like what you're saying basically, you know, Mega Man, good game. You know, it will never fall into the mediocre category. Any of them, any of them will never fall into the mediocre category. Maybe when you get to Mega Man X's 7 on the PlayStation.
Oh yeah, no, yeah, I'm not talking about the... that's like saying about Street Fighter EX, you know, when they try to do it like 3D4, I think. We don't talk about them, that doesn't really affect anything. We just leave that over there.
Yeah, because I know what you mean, that 3D one or the Mega Man. But that's like, well, we talk about that now, let's go straight over to Earthworm Gym 3D on Nintendo 64. I don't even know about that, what you said about that. Probably the worst game ever.
It is horrendous. It is terrible. Played it recently, very, very disappointing in it. So I got it, physical copy.
