#627 Jimmy Owens Army Veteran; 26 Mar 2026

from The Lost Art Project: Veterans’ Voices · host Andrew Cox

Army Veteran Jimmy Owens is the definition of motivation and resilience. From skydiving at 85 years young to continuing to inspire fellow veterans, Jimmy proves that determination and spirit never fade. Jimmy joined the Army with one goal in mind—he wanted to jump out of airplanes. Even though he was a little on the light side and once found himself stuck in a tree during a jump, he pushed through the challenges and ultimately earned his wings. Later in life, Jimmy faced a traumatic car accident that resulted in the loss of his leg. It was a difficult chapter that could have stopped many people in their tracks, but Jimmy refused to stay down. During that time, meeting his wife became a turning point that helped him push forward and continue his recovery. After his military service, Jimmy dedicated many years to education and ultimately retired from teaching as a principal in Oklahoma, continuing his commitment to guiding and inspiring others. This is a compelling and honest story from a true American patriot. You won’t want to miss this one.
