63: Let Freedom Ring: Guilt and Shame

She wants to look at what creates shame and how people get stuck in that place, to begin with. As Anna has shared with Brene Brown's work on previous shows, there is really so much about the shame that doesn't want to be spoken about and keeps people small and isolated. It also tends to give people the sense that there's something wrong with them. Anna explains that guilt is that I did something wrong and shame is that I am (or my being) is wrong and she points out that people really make poor choices when acting out of either guilt or shame.
