634 Have a Good Life!

from The Mike Herrera Podcast

This week I'm talking about the Panic Attack video. Darren Doane and I put it together and we shot the whole thing in one day around Bremerton. It's all DIY, it's all real. The Pokinatcha Punk has taken over my life, so he's in there too. I also tell the story of getting pulled over by the cops while we were larping like cops for the Rolling Strong video. The donuts we had for a prop got us off the hook. Then I get to your voicemails. Somebody asked about skate demos, and I got a great story about that. I met Steve Caballero at Northgate Mall when I was a kid and missed a Social Distortion show at a skate demo that same night. I still wish I'd seen that show. Somebody else wanted songwriting tips, so I get into how I write. Writing songs is like putting together a puzzle. A guy who heard Panic Attack on KEXP asked if the Tumbledown song Moving On is a cover. It's not, I wrote it, and I tell you why I write places into my songs. The Rockies line in Let's Ride came from Dumb and Dumber. A classic. I also talk about slamming my fingers in a tour bus door in Canada and why I play bass with a pick now, how I pick the colors for my signature basses and the show Dark Matter is on my watching now list and why it connects to everything. Appreciate you all. --------------------- Questions or comments?
