This week we discuss Bevy Smith’s book “Bevelations: Lessons from a Mutha, Auntie, Bestie” In Bevy Smith’s debut book, she talks about stories from her past and how she decided to leave a lucrative career to go after what she truly wanted. Bevy gives the readers insight into her life, growing up in Harlem, Lill’ Brown Bevy, her Lovers (ready for that book, Bevy!), not listening to the opinions of the outside world, navigating the fashion and business world as a Black woman, and situations that led her to certain decisions (even when she felt deep down it might not be the best choice. We talk about how this book came into our lives at the right time as were both trying to re-discover and get back to Lil Brown Shanika and Lil Brown Jernell. In the past years we’ve both have been through some good and bad and now we’re starting to get back to the person we needed when we were young.
