But just as his career was taking off, a long-term injury forced him onto the sidelines for four years.After a move to Bournemouth in 2007, Ryan played several seasons before retiring in 2011 at just 27 due to a persistent nerve issue in his leg. He quickly transitioned into coaching, starting as Bournemouth’s first-team coach and defensive coordinator.Since then, Ryan has coached across all levels—including England’s youth national teams—and spent time abroad with Lommel SK in Belgium.
