In the 1700s, New Orleans was part of a struggling French colony desperate for new residents. So, naturally, they started importing women to help grow the population. But when 88 of these women arrived - deathly pale and carrying coffin-shaped luggage - it’s said they tore through New Orleans on a vampiric murder spree, leading the local nuns to imprison them in a convent attic…where some say they remain to this day. Today, we’re exploring the legend of the Casket Girls and the real women who inspired it.Correction: The Anne Rice novel Gina mentions is Interview with the Vampire, not Interview for a Vampire.
