In 2014, she earned her MPH in Environmental Health Science from Kent State University, Ohio. She completed her Certificate in Advanced Graduate Study in General Dentistry from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2015. In 2018, Dr. Sonkar completed her post-graduate training with MSD and Certificate in Advanced Study in Periodontics from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. She was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of New England College of Dental Medicine from 2018-2019 and currently, a Clinical Assistant Professor and Periodontist at the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sonkar is a Diplomate of American Board Periodontology. Dr. Sonkar is a recipient of several honors and awards from American Academy of Periodontology Foundations and was recently awarded ADEA Faculty of Color Scholarship Award 2021.
