#66 Burnout: What's causing it?

from Wellthy Living conversations · host Lisa Rochelle Entwisle

Welcome to Wellthy Living conversations episode 66.“You can't heal in a workplace, situation or institution that continues to harm you.“ - Nathalie MartinekWith this in mind in this episode, we are going to take a deep dive into burnout and bring awareness to things that contribute to workplace toxicity that rarely get talked about in workplace wellbeing conversations. What it looks like, sounds like, feels like, as well as the wellness initiatives that try to cover up the core systemic problems. There’s much more to the burnout conversation than needs to be addressed and we do our best to highlight some in this episode. My guest, Nathalie Martinek is a relationship coach and consultant for leaders and executives in healthcare and related industries, globally. She helps leaders and executives navigate professional and personal relationships with narcissistic people using strategic communication and relational skills while managing risks to their reputation and career progression. The episode begins by defining burnout in two different ways and goes on to get more specific with the second, less commonly talked about definition. In this episode, we do not shy away from anything and exposure how buzzwords are often thrown around without considering their true meaning and are often used to create new industries. We look at imposter syndrome versus forced assimilation, moral distress/injury, and how some wellness initiatives such as resilience programs are used to gaslight employees and avoid addressing broken dehumanising systems. This episode is jam packed with thought-provoking insights.
