#66: From people-pleasing to living for God

from Uniquely You with Destiny Pickens · host Destiny Pickens

Do you find yourself prioritizing the needs of others over yours? This is a sign of you being a people pleaser. Not only are you neglecting yourself, over time, you'd place God below the needs of other people and this can cause terrible damage to your emotional and spiritual state. It's just a matter of time before it causes psychological harm to you.Remember God didn't say "love your neighbor above yourself", He said “love your neighbor as yourself ”, so there should be a balance between both spectrums. In this episode, I talked about ways we can go from being people pleasing to living for God. The core of our existence is God and our lives revolve around him, so there is absolutely nothing we can do without God. If you are struggling with this, tune in to this episode to learn more. Make a decisionWhen we decide to get God involved in everything we do, it makes it easier to manage our people's pleasing attitude and it doesn't get to the extreme, like allowing others to determine how your relationship with God and the church is. Identify the problem The areas where we tend to people please need to be identified. This is the problem and the first step to solving a problem is first identifying it. Laying out a boundary keeps you from going out of your way for others at your expense.Scriptures Mentioned Matthew 22:37-39 1st Thessalonians 2:4Links If you are ready to embark on the journey to living with a biblical mindset, reach out to mewww.destinypickens.comDo well to leave a review, like, subscribe, and share this episode.--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/uniquelyyou/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/uniquelyyou/supportSend us Fan MailSupport the show
