The top end door, do you want to win open? It's all electric, so I can look a bit tight. If everyone's a bit confused, good morning, good afternoon, good evening. You're listening to the all-time car podcast, we're all sitting in a space ship.

We're sitting in a Tesla, we've been talking for months about this car, and once it's a storm, it rains, then COVID comes, then there's a blackout, it's a charge it. But we're here today, we're in a top-less. Hey, buddy. Good, yourself.

Good. We're in a Tesla three before we're moving. It's working. So we're doing another live drive podcast, and I'm in the front seat with Ange, and unlike the X5M last week, we're already moving, and it's not making any noise.

Yeah, it does feel like a train. It does feel like a train. Sorry, I'm not on. But if I hit ding-ding-ding.

There it is, Nick. We've still got 74 centimetres, so we're pretty good. Watch the microphone. Okay, so let me hold the microphone.

So basically, shall we have the Tesla, buddy? I've got it in December. It arrived a couple of days before Christmas. I ordered it in August.

They did, Tommy, was going to come in October, and so I became it went. No, I became it went. And almost November, it almost November, it went December, and I got it for the death of December. So if you ordered one, it'd be what?

Five months? And did you order it through the internet? I went to the dammit at the rest of my place, and I ordered it via... So you didn't drive the car before you bought it?

I drove it there. They did want to test drive. And test drive it, I said I like it. That's it.

What colour do you want? If he just fills out the creates an account for you, there's no negotiation. You don't get a cent off. There's nothing.

Really, it's just what colour is what? What a great system is like. That's it! There's no way sales people to haggle with, and send to the menu.

Oh, fuck! What the fuck! Oh, my God! Oh, shit!

Okay. Do this. Do this. Do this.

Do this. I haven't been in a 10 second car. Okay, and it's just accelerated. And it's just accelerated.

My stomach felt like I was on a rollercoaster. Is that any one from this car? There's no trees or sandals. Like there is no handles.

There's no nois. No one would call me. It's not Tesla. It's no way.

It gets you dizzy. When I first started driving, I was first, because you were used to hearing in a normal car, the engine revving, and then the G-forces, nothing on this car does that. This is the performance. I think I was needs to predict.

I think I'm going back to the Gory and James, buddy. So this is the performance. So this is like the M3, like the Tesla Hs V off. Hey, shut up for a second.

How fast is it? Zero to 103.2 seconds. Fuck. Standing quarter, 11.8.

So the good thing about these cars is based on the firmware update, so when I bought it in December, it was doing 3.4 seconds and more to 100. Yeah, so basically every month they released the different features or different functionality. One of them was a power upgrade, which was a 5% power upgrade in three. Every all of the updates are free unless you buy a new feature.

For instance, your feature on this is automatic driving, full self-driving. I didn't have that feature. I didn't go for that feature. That gives you that smart.

We could. Literally go on the phone. You've got the app on the phone. You say click yes.

It'll download it over night, or depending on how big it is. And you'll have it. You've got a couple of differences that you're not used to in. When I had to get used to in this car.

One is no sound. Yeah, no sound. Nothing's very strange. It is a strange feeling because you're feeling the performance after the velocity.

After the velocity. You're not hearing anything. So let me turn on your aircon. So when you hear us screaming, it's sounding like little kids.

I have to describe that for you. It's because, okay, so we've got the screen. There's no buttons. We've got a massive iPad Pro-sized screen.

It's what I've had, bro. It's a Samsung Series 7 television. So he just now turned the aircon on. And he's just, instead of moving the vents the old way, you just slide your finger along the screen where you want the vent to flow.

That's pretty good. And all of this is... Do you want to be into it? No, all of this is going to be done via the steering control.

Okay. Voice recognition. And voice. So question please.

Yeah. I've got an electric car, and I'm driving out, I'm dropping the kids off to school doing that. Do you ever get rain, jing, ziony? That's the case I'm going to run out of it.

Juice. Initially, that was my biggest concern about buying it. And I didn't know. When I got it, I didn't have a problem.

The difference is, and the reason why you don't have rain, I don't, is... The car that leads to really cool. No, it's not that. You leave every morning, think about that.

I didn't jump in. Yeah, I was there before when the camera ran out. Look at that. He picked up like this guy.

Yeah, they look on the street. I'm not on you. Let's talk to him and see if he wants to race. No.

The difference is... Someone's going to take it away. Is it? Yeah.

That's cool. The difference is when you leave home every morning, it's full charge. So Tesla come and set the charger up for you, or you've got to do it yourself. You've got to get your own electrician.

So it comes to the actual charging unit, comes in the boot. Yeah, comes with the car. Yeah. Comes with the car.

And what you do is you call electrician, and they typically come out and install it for you. And your garage is usually where most people get it. And so if I go on a road trip, and you come on a road trip, and we go from here to Geroa. So, different...

So every model in the Telstra range has three variants. The first one is the standard range. Now that has a 50 kilowatt battery. Then they have what they call a long range, which has a 75 kilowatt battery.

That should do about 620 kilometers in the ideal world. Yeah. Probably in real life. It's probably closer to 520,000.

Just over five kilometers. Just over five kilometers as a good, good. So it's a pretty... It's like a mobile phone.

So if you leave it overnight, there's a lose a couple of kilometers if you don't charge it. No, because it falls asleep this thing. Okay. So it switches off.

It switches off and it sleeps. So you don't have to charge it. So on the dash now, it's saying 419 kilometers. If you went home now and left it and got up in the morning, you'd still sleep 119.

Because I turned on this thing called Sentry. So you may have heard about Sentry Mode where it records all of the cameras. So basically, when you park the car, somebody goes to scratch your car or somebody goes to anywhere near the car. A big, simple saying here, I've tested a security you're being recorded and a recorder all the way around the car.

Obviously, that's all. No, it just has that. It records. So that would chew up somehow.

So it says 419. So tomorrow may say 415. So may lose four kilometers. So anything to explain the things?

So it is like a phone. You don't have to charge it overnight if you don't want it. You don't want to. So if you don't do a lot of kilometers and you want to save as much money as you possibly could, so it's like you did something like 50 kilometers a day.

You'd probably take it the whole week and then visit the shopping center on the weekend. And then go do five or six hours worth of shopping and the thing will be four by the time you've come out of it. And it's great to do that. Yeah.

Well, I thought I was talking to help you make sure you'd charge it every night. So you'd be able to charge it. Not a problem at all. So with the whole thing based on you downloading inferences, so does it have a separate SIM card or?

It comes with it. It's on board SIM card. That's how they manage the car. Okay.

So is that, are you paying for that? Like a monthly subscription? On this model three, the first year comes with it. It's three.

And just now they announced it was going to be $10 US, which transformed to like $17 to $18. And everyone in Australia sent texts and tweets to Elon and he's now put it down to $10 Australian. So $10 a month. So $10 a month.

So $10 a month unlimited data. And if you click on the entertainment, you know, you've got since we're driving away and give me these, those. It'll give me Spotify. But it won't give you YouTube.

It'll even play jingle bells or no screens on here. Yeah, just swipe it and say on. Yeah. So, but if you want to charge it at home, depending on your, a lot of questions everyone asked me is how much does it cost to charge?

Yeah, you're right. So I'll tell you what, so it's based on what plan you have at home with electricity. Some people have on off peak and on peak. This can be programmed to just charge during your off peak.

Yeah, like your water heater or things. If you don't, if you don't have off peak on peak, you have a fixed number that, so depending on what electricity you plan is up to you, the cheapest I've heard it is about 11 cents a kilowatt hour. And the most expensive I've heard it is to be like 28 or 29 cents. That's cheap.

So full charge over. No, it's not for you to charge it. I still forgive. So it becomes second nature.

I thought I was going to do the same thing. Well, I was going to charge my mobile phone. So what would stop you from not charging my car? Well, all you need to do is get caught out once.

Well, BMW, because as everyone out there, no, it's a charge on a BMW. You have a charger in a car. So, you've got a thing called a range extender. Is this a little petrol model?

No, because this is completely electric. There is so much electric. Oh, Jesus Christ. We'll talk about that in a moment.

We just went for 40 to 70. So let's talk about the charging. So if it's fully empty, which they won't let you get empty because it'll winch. It'll winch.

It won't let you go. It won't let you go. It'll continue winching. But if you usually do about 10% or 20% of the battery, which probably quates to about 100-120%.

That works out to be 10% of that. So that's about 7-7 times 11. It's 70 cents a day. Approximately at the best.

So where's case no, it's $1.40. Let's call it $2. So on average, I don't use more than $2 a day over the month, which works out to be $60 a month, compared to my previous V8, which was $100 a month. Would you have only electric cars in your garage?

Well, you can't. Well, let's ask, Angel, you've had a check at car history. What cars have you had? I've had an M5.

I've had M3. I've had HSB, a Mercedes CLA-45. You like all your fast cars. Where does this rank?

One of the fastest. One of the absolute fastest stuff, eh? This is ridiculous. And from the, as I said, getting used to the no sound was the hardest thing.

That was the hardest thing. It took a good one month for getting used to the no sound. So when you first bought it, you thought it's quick. It's bloody quick, but it's going to get old soon.

How many times have you been used to that? So we've got four big adults in this car. I'm going to have to take a look at the last week on our live drive. And that's nothing, man.

I had Ross stop talking, but I was up at 150 kilometres an hour. So, speech for this is really... We do it 40 to 70 and it makes us shut up or scream like gods. So the reason why it does that is because there's no gears.

It's only one gear. Right? So in your normal petrol car, what it does when you plant your accelerator, depending on how far you are in it's power band, it's got to select the right gear, come down to that gear and then with a couple of seconds to lay, whatever the delay is, then you get the... there's no delay on this.

You take six or eight seconds to go. Okay, so let's race the GLA-63. I'll try turbo. He has no chance.

I think it's a lady. He does a lady. She's got a race to all that. She's got a race to all that.

She's got a race to all that. She wants to. She's smiling. Was that the operation?

No, that's the operation. Oh, my... That was not a good. That was great.

And we just get 60 Ks in like a second. It is quick. It is very, very quick. So, as I was talking to you before, there's three variants.

The standard range, the long range has dual motors, which means it's four-wheel drive, the drive is the front and the back, all the drive, the full drive. And the performance, which is what this one is, has the same battery as the long range, but 20-inch rims, a bit of brakes, different suspension, and... Yeah. And it does a lot less in the quarter mile as well as not to 100.

So, what went to the racetrack with this thing? We'll just back it up every time, every time. Every time it will not have an issue. And if you went to the racetrack, I'm going to pull over and I'll show you something.

Loonacross mode. This one, the S3 doesn't have Loonacross mode. They want to release it soon, but it has track mode, which people laugh. So, when you go into track mode, it gives you all this warning about all this.

So, we haven't...now that I've been jumping, it's not all it's now. I've got to be in track mode for it to... So, we went to the music 100%. So, it gives you two courses, it gives you a...

So, I've got a section of the screen that was showing the road with all the cars around us. It's now showing us a G-meter and everything's lit up. So, track mode can tell you I want all of my power to the front, or I want all my power to the back. And I want no assist on, which is...so, this is the burnout section, right?

So, here I've got it to 100% in the back and I want no traction control, no stability. So, it's designed for burnouts or for drifting. They're specifically designed for drifting. This guy.

That mode, yeah. So, at the compressor overclock, which cools the battery a little bit more, because you're giving it all day. This is a G-meter, so how fast you're going, man? Okay, so, let's say the car needs a service.

We'll need to just download the service. So, if car needs a service, it'll tell you. But, remember, there's no service on this. Now, only thing that they do, the service costs is $300 every two years, which, for that, they change the HEPA filter for your record evening and they rotate your device.

And they come and do it on site. The brakes last four times longer than every... Minimum and two, by four times longer than every other car, because when I let go of the accelerator, the regenerator, the regenerator, the battery. So, this is one of those cars that, you know, every other car hates city driving, because what you're doing is start, start, stop.

It's like it's a lot of it, because it recharges the battery every single time. So, I'll turn this off. So, the running costs are pretty much next to nothing? Yeah, the running costs $300 every two years, versus $1000 twice a year on my other car.

And 50 to 60 bucks in electricity to fuel it. Come on. But then again, as I said, if you want to, you can do that for free. There's plenty of places.

There's plenty of places to... Sorry, the other question you had about range, if I wanted to go to Melbourne, the thing that most people hate is that I have to wait for a couple of hours to charge. The Tesla Superchargers and the N-R-Main now, so if you're a main member, you get access to their Supercharge network. Given a 75 kilowatts, the new Tesla Superchargers do 350 kilowatts an hour.

So, divide 350 by 75. That's assuming it was completely empty. It works out to be about 15 minutes. So, you can go at any Tesla Supercharger and then lit it all the way across all the main highways.

Every time it goes, yeah. So, hands-free now. So, you're lit it all the way across every highway. So, the engine now driving with no hands on the wheel.

That's what I was supposed to pick, now. No brakes. No brakes. No brakes.

We're just going on our own now. I saw that thing the Tesla was driving the side of that... Okay, let's see, it's a bit of a, like, traffic island. It's a tree here as well.

Okay, that's on my side. I don't know, okay. I've got it here, bro. It doesn't dodge the part.

I was just dumb. Okay, we've got to check K now, left to right. Let's see. That's going to be nice.

Let's do it in the speed limit. It knows the speed limit based on the maps. So, we're doing 50K an hour? Okay, roundabout.

How are we going to go on the roundabout? If I had full self driving? Yeah, we'll do that. So, it turned off.

I don't know if I touch the speed, though. It's not going to touch the brakes. So, are you two not playing the brakes? I'm not going to go on the roundabout.

Would it have gone right over? It would have gone straight. No, I've never tried it. I'm assuming you would have tried to get over it.

I can do it. Okay, I should have just wait for a minute. We'll come back and tell you. As you can see, it recognises beans.

It's got cups really garbage. No, look at the map. It recognises a stop signs, it recognises a giveaway signs. It can see all the cars, bikes.

There's a recogniser wife at the footpath at 3am and you come over and you come over and you come over. No, they've been. No, she did. I was going to take a bit of a cameras.

So, I'll send you all that. Yeah, so the self-drive is releasing a new feature where it will stop at red lights. It will stop at give away signs and take off. Their aim is by the end of the year to try and give a proper full-source driving that you can type in an address.

The thing is Australian Law says somebody needs to be sitting in front of it. So, that's why it keeps swinging every minute to touch the steering wheel. Otherwise, it doesn't recognise someone there because that's how people have accidents. Just start the car and get the back seat.

Just go for a couple of those. Start the car with the address and get the back seat. Go for a couple of those rubber feets. What some people do do too?

I'll say that when they do tricks. The computer. I was going to say, I'm feeling a steering wheel. How much did this cost you?

This cost 103 on road. That's because New South Wales doesn't have any concession for the city. No way. If I happened to buy it in Canberra, I would have saved $5,000 for electric cars, waves, their same duty.

In Victoria, from memory, they give you a 50% discount. So, your $5,000 damn duty to transfer into your name is 2.5 in Victoria. Or zero in things. That's $100,000.

That's $100,000. An insurance? What's that roughly? That was the case.

Not many insurance companies want to ensure that. Really? They just don't know much about them. Any collisions are right off.

No, the answer to that. Not many of them want to ensure it. It's pretty expensive. How many fits is going off in this class?

Apparently they won't let anyone touch it. That's expensive because it has to go back to a Tesla. They can't go to your powerbed. So, how much is the insurance?

My insurance, because I have so many policies. I'm not a good driver. I'm a good driver. I've been driving with a no-claim industry.

It costs me $248 to $150 a month. It's not $300 a year. That's what I've played for my company. I've been doing it up.

I've been to my Mercury which cost me $1100 a year. It's just costing me $200,000. It's one of the most stolen cars. That's one of the most expensive cars for your driving record.

So, where's the rank? Is it your favorite toy? It's my favorite toy. It's easy to drive.

It's up to two settings to the first one. Whenever I'm going to New Areas, I just know the speed. I don't let me go to the speed limit. I can still drive it myself.

If I do the second one, obviously it does the software. So, when I go up the coast or down the coast, the whole freeway experience is done like that. So, you get out pretty relaxed. The other thing that does really, really well is it's raining and you can't see.

It doesn't stop it, not seeing. It can still see really well. So, when I was driving up the coast last week, it was really foggy. Most of the other cars were in the side lane going slower because it was foggy.

I was still going to speed in the software. You're looking for it. I was just looking in front. So, when the full autonomous stuff comes in, you can do it like, remember back in the day, you used to put a mannequin in the passenger seat to use the T2 light?

Yeah. Now you put the mannequin in the driver seat. The driver seat. So, you can see the passenger seat having a corner.

So, remember before I said this lots and lots of... So, this is literally a kilometer away from my house? Yep. I can come and charge it for free just now.

Oh, so you know what the charge is like? There's an app you can get and I'll tell you where all the charges are. What's the charger here? Obviously these guys must have the vase for it.

Yeah, a lot of businesses is putting them in there. Yeah, so, this is... ...the topic of visiting arm and stuff like that and... So, it's kind of vision straight.

Yeah, and it's great. You can use it? Yeah. This is probably part of...

...the way they call it. I think it's some car point or something for you. And isn't that... No, you don't have to pay it just after it's there.

You want to use it? So, with the charging. With the charging. You've got two.

You've got two. Yep. What about like the BMW i3? If they got separate...

...they've got a different connector. So, can you go to the same charger network? So, there's a couple of different... ...like the HSNB.

It is similar. It is like that. There's a couple of different standards to use, but you can buy all of the... ...most of the adapters from Tesla say.

You know, for instance, I know there's a J series or the series one type of charger. You would go buy an adapter a couple hundred bucks and then you could use those chargers. Yeah, so they are different. They haven't agreed on a global standard.

So, I buy every depth possible. So, you can stop anywhere. Anyway, I'd be stuck. Do you think they'll get to a stage without central or have this?

I think they will. I'll get to a point where all of the manufacturers will agree on. It's this type of connector and we all use the same thing. It's not there yet because these guys have been at it for over a decade.

Everybody else is just trying to catch up. Wow, what do you guys think? I like it. I like it.

I like it. I like it. I like it. There are a couple of words about the other 9x.

Now, hydrogen cars are pretty darn good from what I've heard because I looked at, obviously... Is it an Australian company? Basically, setting themselves up in Port Kemer to start building an Australian car towards H2X. The only downside with all the hydrogen cars is infrastructure.

The infrastructure, all right. So, what are you going to fill it up next to the infrastructure next to have hydrogen? Whereas, in the reason why these are taking off, everyone's got a power point. Everyone's got a power point.

Everyone's got a power point. And there's infrastructure Tesla that did a pretty good job putting infrastructure in before they went crazy about. crazy about and everybody else is doing it so as I said before and our mate if you're an NRO member they have a series of charges ones in the staking so whilst you're watching a football game your car charging and it's charging free let's say 50% of people buy electric cars and we all got the football there's only two charging stations what happens they will do like what they do in some of the other there's a booking system you go on your app and you're so I'm gonna use that between X and Y. There is there's always a problem with other people parking in your in the electric charging I had a multiband that was electric guys to parking in the truck usually they're right at the front of the shopping center's a right in front of everyone so I'll just open the window and check the cable and off we go like the suspension is quite firm but not in three or all the vulnerable everything's adjustable so it's it's it's effortless it's very easy to drive very difficult to drive now I can go for the menus there there's just so many things they're just also my wife for instance you hate for the regenerative brakes I want you look over the pedals that slows down but you see the break now so before you answer the brakes on these last four or four times longer because you're not using it you get used to driving without using the brake I don't know how long I need to look out there the pedal before it stops at that so because it's a bit like I'm gonna use the brake yeah but you can turn it off that's amazing driving regenerative braking standard or low steering comfort performance acceleration so when you get this lovely little feature so my daughter who's on her else I put it on chill acceleration I put on a steel lemonade she can't accelerate hard and normal it got about 80 kilometers now it also has a valet mode yeah so you put in valet mode no but I can't do more than 50 and they can't accelerate excessively so I'll see your names on the screen so if I get in I could program my profile your profile the return is doing well everything will go to your profile it's amazing so and it recognizes it from your phone so comes with two keys that keys look like a normal credit card you tap it on that on the middle yeah that's not that sensitive the sensor there and then you have to come here to initiate for it to start once you've done that you drive I don't like carrying around a credit card so I use I use my phone so the app on my phone you're reconfering the battery the phone on the battery I've got the same app on my watch so I can watch it so I can I've got the credit card in my wallet I need to stack credit on your credit card so I've been able to want to know so BMW are releasing this great new feature this year it's where you'll be able to open your car with your phone already got it so they've just released it like this so it's a brand new feature not like Tesla's been doing it for like a few years now exactly like Tesla does apparently been doubly advertising doing it on car as you walk up to your car you don't need to keep you don't need anything your phone charges that's a market but yes what's the one to I didn't buy from Tesla because I didn't have anything stop okay yeah after my it's very minimalist very minimalist everywhere that's what we getting flashes I'm seeing all the people flash everywhere you got to get used to not staring at you yeah yeah it's not a head-up display yeah and it's all sorts of like a man's I can you the example I'm too hot it'll reduce the temperature oh well increase fans speed press it now wow keep it on say something I have covered I have covered it's taking me no no spare right no spare no spare tire in this car either we can talk about oh open blood box no no it did open papers John's you my cheeseburger that we can do that navigate the nearest McDonald's this is the glass never go to the nearest McDonald's it's wasted all the dollars I was well that's amazing it's constantly connected it's too the closest I don't do but but the other thing to kick love is any song they can think of pretty much finds it so I'm not gonna pick any random song but do you think of something actually press the button play like a good atcha let's see come on I thought you're gonna send me up there every such a song I want to take time to do that thanks a lot for taking us for a cruising in our very first Tesla I think this car is a very welcome guys happy to help any listeners if they want any more information I'll give you my link so everyone abyser test like it's a link yeah and with that link if somebody if you introduce somebody in their bike car you both get 1500 kilometers of free Tesla supercharging so you can go to a Tesla supercharger and charge for free 1500 quums some of the people in the US there's a promotion around the more people you invite their gifts the Tesla gives you so a couple of the top youtubers that have invited something like a thousand people that bought cars have got a free road to a free road which is a 250,000 dollar not to 100 in 1.6 seconds you are going to give people one Tesla if you get about a thousand you get a car with 1000 so I think I've got to give them another 20,000 thank you for having us thank you for having us it was brilliant sorry if you want to send us questions email us at paltalkat outlook.com.au you know the great thing is we are signing out with like we're gonna have to play I know I love it so thank you Mr.
