67: Judy Martins: The Kent State University Disappearance

In 1978, 22-year-old Kent State University student Judy Martins left a dorm party and began the short walk back to her residence hall--a distance of less than 300 yards. She never arrived. More than four decades later, Judy’s disappearance remains unsolved. In this episode, we examine the final known movements of Judy Martins, the atmosphere surrounding Kent State University in the years after the 1970 shootings, and the unsettling reality of how quickly someone can vanish from a busy college campus without explanation. This case raises difficult questions about vulnerability, visibility, and what happens when a missing woman’s story slowly fades from public memory. 📍 Kent State University | Kent, Ohio📅 May 24, 1978 📖 Featuring an original poem written in Judy’s honor, read by Stephanie Sy-Quia. ➡️ Help bring attention to missing and unidentified women — subscribe and share this episode. 📍 Find us on Instagram & Facebook. 📚 Get Aimee’s book, Doe, now available via University of Akron Press, Bookshop.org, and Amazon. 📰 For more women-centered true crime content, subscribe to Aimee’s newsletter, GIRLHUNT.
