#672 The Engine of Speed: Mastering the Kinematic Sequence & Transition Phase (Part 3)

from Golf 247.eu: The Global Platform for Innovative Technologies and Teaching Concepts. · host Golf247.eu

The transition is where speed is created—or lost. Elite golfers generate effortless clubhead speed through a precise kinematic sequence, where energy flows from the pelvis → thorax → lead arm → club. This proximal-to-distal sequence allows each body segment to accelerate, then decelerate, transferring energy like a cracking whip.A powerful downswing always starts with the pelvis, not the club. During the transition, professionals create the X-Factor Stretch by rotating the pelvis toward the target while the thorax is still completing the backswing. This stores elastic energy and produces greater speed with less effort.Research shows that many amateurs begin the downswing with the arms or club ("casting"), causing the club to peak too early and slow down before impact. The result is reduced power, inconsistent contact, and poor sequencing.Another common misconception is that pressure can shift without body mass. In reality, elite players move both pressure and mass toward the lead side to control the low point, compress the golf ball, and create consistent ball-first contact.Maintaining hip flexion during transition—the "reflex" move—helps prevent early extension, stabilizes the pelvis, and allows the body to rotate efficiently. Standing up too early or excessively tilting the pelvis reduces speed and increases stress on the lower back.Key Coaching PointsStart the downswing with the pelvis, never the club.Create an X-Factor Stretch during transition.Shift both pressure and body mass toward the target.Maintain hip flexion to eliminate early extension.Let the pelvis and thorax brake so the club can accelerate through impact.Modern 3D motion analysis and ground reaction force measurements make these movement patterns measurable, helping golfers improve clubhead speed, consistency, and injury prevention. If you enjoyed this article, subscribe to our channel and explore the eCoach360° Golf Intelligence Platform and our 30-Day Golf Biomechanics, Kinematics & Ground Reaction Forces Certification Program to learn the science behind elite golf performance.www.eCoach360.com📺 The Explainer
