畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著草（cǎo）“草”是个形容词，古时写作“艸”。甲骨文的“草”字，就像是两株小草的形状，这也是“草”的本字。金文和小篆的“草”，字形和甲骨文相近。现在所使用的“草”字，实际是假借字，原是“皂”的本字。“草”假借为“草木”的“草”之后，又另造了“皂”字来代替。现在，“草”字除了本义之外，还可用作形容词，意为粗糙的、粗略的，如某个人的字迹很“潦草”。（两棵纤xiān秀的小草，一片绵延的绿意。）
