#68 - Jean Lawes - One Stepping Stone Led to Another

from Sew Much More

Jean Lawes is the owner of HomeStyle, LLC, a Custom Workroom to the Trade that is dedicated to the fabrication of exceptional quality soft home furnishings. First class craftsmanship, careful attention to detail, personal integrity, and superior customer service are the cornerstone values of HomeStyle. Jean has a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from the University of Delaware, an Interior Design Certification from the Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science, and has completed numerous fabrication and business courses offered throughout the window covering's industry from such outstanding educators as Michele Williams, Ann Johnson, Jeanelle Dech, Penny Bruce, Susan Woodcock, Cathy Tucker, and Beth Hodges. As a young adult, she was an award winning seamstress in the Maryland State 4-H program. Her passion for sewing was a loving gift from her Mother. The WCAA has brought considerable significance to Jean's business by way of wonderful friendships and colleagues, valuable resources and industry partners, as well as substantial educational opportunities. She is a member at the National and Virtual levels, and serves as Treasurer for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, and Vice-President of the Maryland Chapter. Jean was greatly honored to be the 2017 recipient of the Jill Robson Memorial Scholarship awarded by the National Window Coverings Association of America. HomeStyle officially began in 2013 in Haddonfield, NJ where Jean and her husband, Greg, lived for 28 years. They raised three terrific children in that quaint little Borough - Graeme, Emily, and Wyatt - who make them very proud, and have since taken wing to leave their nest empty. In 2015, Greg and Jean moved from Haddonfield to rural Harford County, Maryland to live on Jean's late parents' family farm. The move brought HomeStyle into a whole new workroom dimension - from 2 small bedrooms to a spacious, "lower level" workspace! Jean is proud to be an entrepreneur with a growing Workroom business, and she is thrilled to be working with outstanding Interior Designers in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Jean is on Facebook and Instagram. You can watch her workroom tour with Jeanelle Dech of the Workroom Channel here.
