7-18-22: Life lessons from Cal Ripken's career

I would love to hear from you, just send me text and let me know what you think of the podcast.Tomorrow is the All-Star Game and so I wanted to talk about one of my favorite all-time All-Stars, Cal Ripken Jr. Cal famously played in 2,632 consecutive games in his career, beating Lou Gehrig’s record of 2,130. But Cal had such humility about his record and his place as a baseball player. I wanted to highlight three examples from his career that we can all apply to our own lives. Humility - Cal was famous for saying his streak wasn’t a big deal, if people could show up to steel mills and hospitals for 8-10 hours a day he could certainly show up and play baseball for three hours. Innovation - That humility also led Cal to innovate as a player. He drastically changed his batting approach many times in his career and switched from shortstop to third base. After all, to play in that many games is not just a novelty you also have to be really, really good for a long time. Just show up - That’s more than half the battle.
