7/22/26. Eric Klinenberg. "Heat Wave"

Because so much of northern hemisphere is experiencing record-breaking heat waves this summer, we are replaying this interview with Eric Klinenberg, author of "Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago." The book examines the devastating heat wave in July 1995 when hundreds of people in Chicago perished from the heat. Klinenberg did a careful study of where in the city people were more apt to perish from the heat- and why. (This interview was recorded in 2002.)
