7. Neil Payne “Alpa Phi”

Neil Payne’s short film Alpa Phi showed at Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2016.  He let me know that he had a lot to get off his chest about filmmaking, about what it’s like to make films that challenge people, and about the challenges of life after film school. “Alpha Phi” Short from Neil Payne on Vimeo. When I approached Neil about doing the Discover Film podcast, he asked me to look at a commercial spec spot that he shot.  I found it so bold and direct, that I decided to make this one of the rare times that a filmmaker gets more than one piece of work embedded with their podcast.  (It doesn’t hurt that it’s 30 seconds.)
