7. Nervous systems & behaviours - what's the link?
from The Luchi & Mutton's Podcast, Dog Behaviour & Nutrition, and All Things Dog · host surabhi venkatesh
I talk a lot about nervous systems in my consultations with clients. Because the behaviours that we see not just in our dogs but all living beings are linked to the working of the nervous system. When we understand how this works, we are able to appreciate the nuance in our dogs' behaviours. In this episode, I start by sharing why I emphasise so much on the importance of calm dogs and then flow into talking about the polyvagal theory, (which has been a new and very interesting find to me) the importance of safety in the nervous system , the benefits of regulation and the value of seeing all behaviour as information and in their relevant contexts.
