#7. Non-Profit Dog Rescue Spawned a Successful Business with Kiah Hagen

from Pockets of Knowledge · host Pockets of Knowledge

Kiah is the founder and director of Pacific Pups Rescue in Los Angeles, and the co-founder and CEO of Pacific Pups Products. Kiah started her non-profit animal rescue in 2016 with the goal of rescuing the dogs and cats who were being overlooked in the high-kill shelters of Los Angeles. She wanted to help the dogs that most others were leaving behind. She and her fiance were funding it from their own pockets when a friend and fellow Amazon seller suggested they make a product to sell on Amazon in order to support the rescue. She launched Pacific Pups Products in 2017. That initial product was almost immediately successful, and she realized there was potential on Amazon to help fund her efforts to rescue more animals. Pacific Pups Products is now a well-established brand that completely funds Pacific Pups Rescue. Every purchase made is directly helping to save a life. Safety comes first, so all of the toys are made from safe & non-toxic materials, and all pass the ASTM F-963 Children’s Toy Safety Standards test. All of the toys are put through the wringer with our rescue dogs, to make sure they are durable enough for heavy chewers. The rescue has been able to save almost 700 animals to date, thanks to the support from the e-commerce business.  In this episode, we talk about the difference between a shelter and a rescue. The necessity of having a 501(c)(3) status. And how starting a business that promotes a philanthropic endeavor can help in its success. She shares how rescue organizations can not function without the help from foster families.   Connect with Kiah:  [email protected] Check out their Rescue site: www.Pacificpupsrescue.com Check out their eCom site: www.Pacificpupsproducts.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pacificpupsrescue/ https://www.instagram.com/pacificpupsproducts/ Books mentioned in the episode: https://amzn.to/3zQsUdP Instagram Rules by Jodie Cook https://amzn.to/3E6Jngn They Ask You Answer by Marcus Sheridan Podcasts mentioned: Serious Seller Podcast Marketing Ninja Wizards of Ecom ——— Enjoy this Podcast?
