He and his wife Jodi founded the Humanologi Foundation with the aim to refocus attention on the roles of empathy, humanism and compassion in healthcare. Active in national politics, he served as Chairman of the New Jersey Commission on Spine Injury Research where he was called upon to testify before the U.S. Congress.
