Il 5 marzo 1953 moriva Stalin, l’uomo che aveva tenuto in pugno l’Unione Sovietica per quasi trent’anni, vincitore della guerra contro Hitler ma persecutore del proprio popolo. Il giorno dopo l’Unione Sovietica si risvegliò disorientata, scioccata, piena di incognite. Che cosa aveva rappresentato per l’Unione Sovietica quel “Piccolo padre”, come la propaganda chiamava Stalin? E che cosa rappresenta ancora oggi? Ce lo spiega su Storia in Podcast lo storico Andrea Romano, docente di Storia contemporanea all’Università Roma Tor Vergata. Stalin era stato colpito da un ictus verso le 18:30 del 1° marzo 1953, nella sua dacia fuori Mosca. Le guardie se ne accorsero solo verso le 10 di sera. Il dittatore fu trovato a terra in pigiama e maglietta, in mezzo alla propria urina. Furono subito avvisati i vertici dell’Urss, tra i quali il ministro degli Interni Berija e l’astro nascente Nikita Krusciov. Dodici ore dopo il colpo apoplettico erano intorno al leader agonizzante sul divano. Ma solo la mattina seguente decisero di chiamare i medici. Fu un ritardo voluto? Alcuni, in realtà senza prove concrete, sostengono la tesi di un avvelenamento: fu probabilmente il tempo necessario per trovare un accordo sulla gestione del Paese e la futura distribuzione del potere...Andrea Romano, autore del podcast, è Professore associato di Storia contemporanea presso l’Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata.
