#70: "Helpisode" Clinical Excellence: Communicating with Compassion Part 1

from Dental Hygiene Student Podcast with The Happy Flosser RDH · host Billie Lunt RDH MSDH

One of the most essential skills involved with communication is active listening. In this episode, Dr. David Neumeister and I have a conversation that takes a closer look at the importance of communication as one of the most significant aspects of comprehensive and patient-centered care. Dr. Neumeister shares some of his own journey on the path to clinical excellence as well as some of the obstacles and challenges he faced and had to overcome in order to become the clinician he knew he wanted to be. He shares some of the challenges students face as new clinicians as well as some of the ways we can work both individually and as a team to meet those challenges together. Dr. Neumeister has certainly mastered the art of making people feel at ease, heard, and cared about. Take the time to listen to what Dr. Neumeister has to say about team collaboration and transformational leadership development as a practice. I was taken aback by the depth of knowledge and consideration discussed for the entire dental team - as a result, the experience for each patient was a learning opportunity for growth and communication development. As I say.... "Those who know will grow."
