“Peter W.,” who recently turned 60, has been married for over 36 years and has three children. He has struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts for many years and sought help at a residential program two years ago. During his time in the program, he opened up for the first time about a sexual assault he experienced at age 26. While he has been working through this trauma in therapy, he was recently assaulted again. Since then, other incidents triggered repressed memories of childhood sexual abuse.
