Crack them open. What are you drinking in, Johnny? Just a cause, like... Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Cut them blue mountains. Nice. How blue are they? Well, they weren't as blue because it's been a double part for myself and I drank one waiting for you.
Welcome to Taylor's Watch Radio. On that note, I'll do the intro, shall I? Thanks for tuning in to Taylor's Watch Radio, issue number 70. In this Super Turbo edition of the podcast, Johnny is talking about EASA4, mascot, books and beers for us.
We've got marbles, expats, swords and some New York breweries shit. We'll be talking about Skate with TJ Rogers and also what he's smoking at the moment. And I'll be getting some of the boys' opinions and predictions of the Olympic skateboarding competition. Here we go, looking at a lovely day, whatever you're doing, or a lovely evening, wherever you might be in Clumber's O'Hiyo.
You might be in... Thank you. ...how we do. You might be in somewhere in Russia.
Yeah, big in Russia. Big in Russia at the moment. Big in Russia. Sam Petersburg.
Yeah. Do you want to listen to that? That's the only minute. Yeah, that's the only minute.
Yeah, so welcome. So here we go. So here we go. So we're going to episode 70.
Do you want to kick things off? Jon, I think we got that big announcement from EA. I say big announcement. You can kind of lay down a law on that.
But announcement by EA, you're saying that Skate is happening for the PS5 or whatever, but you're going to have to wait a little bit. Something along those lines, am I right in saying that? Yeah, so they put out... Well, first they put out a little tweet announcement because I think this weekend is an EA Play event, so EA's showing off a bunch of upcoming games.
And they made a statement saying they're not going to be at that, but they released a little teaser. And no gameplay was shown. It's just them saying, yeah, we're working on it. It's only been six months, give us a chance.
Which is fair enough, really. You want to say, are you on that side of the fence? Fair enough, because I thought it was a bit of a cop-out. I don't know about you.
When you first watched that video, did you think that was a bit of a cop-out? Because I was like, come on now, son. You're saying, all the gameplay, the gameplay, show us the gameplay then. Yeah, it's one of those things.
Fuck, it's hard. We're all obviously excited to see what it's like in play-up, but I thought they'd have been a little bit further. Not loads, but a bit more. Yeah, they could have shown us a bit more too.
No, they're building up a segment for you, isn't they? Just wait until they go and show you the 30-second snippet and everyone's going to fucking wipe themselves off of it. That's what they're building up to. The tiniest more so they give you now.
They are like people in them fucking motion capture suits in it, isn't they? Yeah, so... It's actually like skateboarding shit, eh? I've been doing some digging.
I've gone in. Yeah. I've gone all. So, like you said, they had a bunch of people doing motion capture, which they, as far as I am aware, they didn't do for the other skate games.
That was all, like, hand-animated. So, it looks like we're going to get different styles of skating going on. If those are the people doing the captures for the game, and not to just look cool, then there should be a bit of variation going on. Was it pros doing the motion capture, mate?
Or was it just random Joe Blogs who's decent at a switchback tail? What was it doing in it? It looked just like random Joe Blogs doing an SSBS. Yes.
I guess it's been customised personally. If they get fucking a broad spectrum of people, no different shapes, different sizes of skateboarding, then if you want to change your character to whatever you want to it, they probably got a bank of people in it, aren't they? Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. And it does sound like character creation is going to be a big part of it.
Because in the other skate games, everyone just looks like a slight variation of each other. Yeah, I think they might have different keys. Can you have like three different styles of skating? I think they were aggressive, smooth and normal, and pretty much all at the same apart from maybe a little bit of a push.
You know, like there was no real difference. But hopefully this time, if you're, you know, there's so many different styles of skating, hopefully you're going to be able to pick your boy that's best suits you. Yeah, exactly. And that looks like the road they're going to know.
That'll be cool. Oh, definitely. Definitely what we call. But what they haven't said is if, like, how they're going to do the controls, because since skate three in the 11 years that it's been, we've had a couple of other skate games like session and skater XL, which take the controls of skate, but change it to both six.
So the left stick is your left foot and the right stick is your right foot. It's a head fuck. It's a head fuck. I know you've been playing it more night.
I mean, I've been playing a lot of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater in RTS4 killing it, by the way. I've been killing it. Million point combos, no problem, whatever. But those controls, that's a little bit too fiddly.
If they start messing about with that formula, that'd be kind of like, just trying to think, when you've got a classic, the old wrestling games we used to play. The standard kind of short wrap or long wrap, or anyone can play it. And then you press up and green down and green. It's quite a simple formula.
Then they started doing the new ones on the PS3 and it all just got a little bit kind of like, there's too many buttons involved. And I was like, no, I just want to get to pick up this chair. It's there. How do I pick that fucking chair up?
I just want to press like, square, pick up, but it started getting a little bit, you know, hold down R2 and press square to do something. I just hope skate don't go down that road of making it a bit too. The reason why I skate was so nice, it was like a skate simulator. Everything was perfect.
It looked great. It all made sense. You don't need to use your left hand, left thumb to control your left foot. I don't know if it's a bit too far.
You might as well get that Tony Hawk fucking skateboard thing that you had on the wheel, whatever that was. When you just, whoa, when you're carving. You know what I mean? Just stand standing there, you're only carving.
Whoa, yeah. I never had a go on it, but I'd imagine that's what the noise is on my carpet. You know, you're bouncing all your legs. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, I think it needs to be.
Did you ever play that wheel? No, I always wanted to, but I think everyone of those things where I knew that it wouldn't have been as close to the real thing, so it'd have been harder again. Sorry, you probably lost loads of money when it first came out, because there was nothing like that. You would have been trying to do it a very heel on it, wouldn't you?
Yeah. That was the problem with it. I had to go on it once or twice. And you just, to do an all-y, you would just lift up the ball, like this manual.
It's like, no. You have to really stop yourself from snapping the thing in half. So going back to Control's, Jon, what are you saying then? You're saying that they are going to tweak it.
What your speculations, as a, you know, the terms of what's radio journals that you are, you've got deep on the shit. Watch the video. Google a couple of times. I mean, scroll down.
You might have to have the third page. You never know. No, it's the first page. You might have to have the third page.
You might have to have the third page. Yeah, exactly. You might have clicked to 29. You know what I mean?
The last one is. It's a different language. Yeah, exactly. What's it?
Winding. Yeah, all in winding. Yeah, dark one. Yeah, dark one.
Yeah, what you speculating me? My speculation is that you've got to have a couple of choices. I reckon they'll have classic or legacy controls, which is skate-free. But then you'll have the SIM controls, which will be left, right, right.
Yeah, I'll give you that. That's a fair challenge, mate. That's how I would do it if I was them as well. Because you'll have the people coming from skate-free that have only played those, not played session.
Don't actually skate in real life and can't get their heads around it. They just want to kick it down like 30 cents and not worry about it. Which is fair, mate. You know what I mean?
We're not playing Tony Hawk's recently. The nice thing about that, because it's obviously an arcade game. I can still just do a nice run so I flip a flat and try and style it out or find a little spot and try and make things a bit more realistic. I know you go 20 foot in the air, but you can still kind of control it a little bit more.
And I just hope they don't lose that whereas simplicity wins. I mean, it's a reason why Mario goes down as one of the greatest motherfuckers of all time. Yeah, because it was just, you know, run. Run, run, go on the fucker.
Jump. Exactly. Jump on someone's head. And they got turtles in it.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, they were tapping into something. They got turtles in skateboarding. I couldn't find a definitive answer.
Yeah, it could be turtles. Well, it could actually. The thing is, they could have Michael Angie. I mean, Donatello, wouldn't he or not a domino's advert not too long ago or something?
Or AA or not an AA or fucking direct line or something? Oh, yeah. Donatello is skateboarding. So you never know, you know.
He might be in the... Donatello is a surf on a fucking turtle. Oh, yeah. I think so.
Yeah. Is there any news on that, John? Believe it or not. No.
Of course you forget it. No, getting played at that. But get it. Wait, we've seen it.
We've only got to pay 29. That was on page 30. Well, yeah. I need to dig further.
Yeah. I think that's going to be a little while until we see more footage or any footage actually. Now, what everyone's thinking, John, everyone wants to know. You're going to have to, you know, you've done your research.
You must know the answer to this. Where's the release date? The release date is... Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to have to answer this. Where's the release date?
The release date is September 18th, 2022. Is that... Is that just... I've pulled some of that in my arms.
I'm just going to play a video. I'll play a video. That's exactly what I've done. Yeah.
What are we thinking of release date? You know, when do you think it's going to be released? Maybe we'll be lucky to see it next year. I think it's going to be the year after.
Back it now. Because unless they do what the other skateboarders have done and do the... And what a lot of games do is do the early release. But that's not EA style.
Yeah, ever done that. You know, like if I wanted to... I was sports titles or something, do they ever done an early release? No.
No, they haven't. Well, they end up doing it for that. No. So I reckon it's going to be...
What? 2023 before we see it. Christmas, you're saying? Maybe.
Or maybe Christmas did not. So it doesn't get anyone skating. Getting away from skating. Yeah.
It comes out in the summer. That's probably skating time, isn't it? Yeah, it is. But it comes out.
What are they calling it? What are they calling it? What have you researched on that makes? Because obviously you know the answer.
I'm asking you because you've, you know, page 29 on Google search. So what they call it? Well, it's not skate four. It's just skate.
That kind of offends me. When you kind of forget, you know, it's like Mario 64. I know they put 64 in the end of everything, but Mario didn't they? Right, they're going to come out in 64 hours.
Yeah, but at least acknowledge where they came from. They're saying it's the 64 one. You know, this is the 64 one. Yeah.
Yeah. I spent my life looking for the other 65. Mario came. It was any of them.
It was a solid one. It was a solid one. I spent my life looking for the other 65. Mario came.
It was there with any of them. But they were saying it was a solid one. Mario 64. Yeah.
At least skate four is actually a four one. At least they're not lying there. No. But yeah, it looks like they've been a few escapes.
They're not even calling it four. Hmm. They're calling it the escape. Yeah, they should have returned.
Yeah. It's a return of escape. Well, if you could name it, what would you name it? I'd like to call it this, but only if it goes with the name.
Like a skate premium. We're in that fucking field. I imagine that and everything's that little bit better. The bad stuff.
that's about characters, everything decks, mission. That's great that you'd like to see in it, Will. If you could have any pro skater that you know is not gonna be in the game, you know what I mean? There's obviously some skaters that are probably gonna be in the game.
Name me a left field skater, you know what I mean, someone that just off the cuff, who you'd like in there. Oh, Penny. Nice. I mean, that could happen.
That could happen. Yeah, I know that. I think about each other. It could happen.
But Pen with your, Rep in it for England, OGs. Just yeah, just bringing it all around. They can put him into my essays as well. Exactly, yeah.
He's jumped your boat. He's back on the old S. He's back there. I knew he was, I really thought as soon as Chad put that post out, I thought he can't see.
I thought Tom was gonna kind of go somewhere else or go with. It is a question for you. Let's bring this round on the Turbo Chat. Matt posted this cat or something skating.
What was it? This little cat, it's the fucking mascot anything, Olympics. Oh, is it? Yeah.
I look good that game. Yeah, it's the go Google. Oh, is that the doodle thing? Yeah, the doodle thing.
I've seen the Google thing. Yeah, so I'm gonna get Google thing. Yeah, click on that. It's like, because it's the Olympics now, isn't that little cat going around, he's going around the Olympic mascot.
Is he just skating or is he doing a bit of baseball as well? Tennis, running, fucking skateboarding. Everywhere is that the fucking Olympics? He's doing them all any.
He's done them all. He's done them all. He's done them all. He's done them all.
I know he's now, I don't know what that Olympic mascot's name is. If anyone knows what his name is, he must have one. Olympic mascot. Olympic.
Olympic. Olympic mascot. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, so sorry, Johnny. Any other games you were trying to check in out old skate games? Well, I recently have been playing skate two, which was a real headfuck after playing session and Skater Xcel. Going from the two sticks to the one stick.
Yeah. I just kept re-verting in power sliding everywhere. So what'd you prefer? I got to be honest, I prefer the two sticks.
I know. Come on now. Blast from me. But I really do.
So you're saying it's difficult to go back then. Once you've gone double stick man, it's hard to pull yourself back there and just be the standard kind of left as your directional, right as your manoeuvres. Yeah, it took me, probably took me a couple of days to get used to the single stick again. Okay, now mate.
Yeah. I found bad for myself. You should. You should.
Like 14 year old me was rashing out these photo challenges. It's like, mate, I can't fucking gap this fountain. I can't get to the fountain, let alone gap it. But...
It's quite a lesson to learn for you, Jack. They weren't any. They were. But yeah, I've been playing a lot of the session.
I just prefer it. So for the new skate, has there been any more characters released or any confirmed? Has there been anything like that at all? And if so, who's going to be in it?
No pros just yet. In the teaser, there was lots of kind of YouTubers and kind of skateboarding influences. But... Right.
Like a tebow was there. So I guess a tebow's going to be in it for the fresher. But yeah, no pros just yet. Because we have session.
Like they've had a few of the zero boys on there, like Dane Burmans on there. St. Billy Marks is on his way. They just really stay on song on there.
Like proper full body scans of them with their boards and everything. It'd be interesting to see who goes to the skate. Surely everyone wants to go to the skate. If EA come a call in, you've got to answer it, right?
Oh yeah, no. Probably come with it. They say, Tony, come on now son. Just jump out, he'll sell it for that.
He's been selling out for a long time. Here we go. Thank you, Tony. It's all bad, does he?
Biggest side of them all. Yeah, exactly. I mean, if he let, you know, he let that board, you know, obviously the last game that you released Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 Plus still, whatever, really enjoying it is quality. But to let that board, you know, that fucking carpet board thing out, he must have known that was shit.
He must have known that. Just no one, even if you're not the skate baller just by going back. Oh, like, I just, I just, so yeah, you know, he's a bit, he's selling out just like the rest of the money. No, no, no, they're funny.
They're funny. They do a critical on that though. Who's A-N-A? He's the same as I'd use it once, or if I give him the D-T ones, whatever.
Like, if he can do it, then you're not getting that game to do it on, are you? But then that game could do it on it's too difficult to do it. Then you're not doing that. And why?
Who do you ever aim those things? But like, Garage Band or whatever. And that is, that buttons are actually like strings you play. You played that shit?
Um, those buttons are rock bands. So, so you're actually playing a bit of a guitar? The drums you only want to use. The guitar is still buttons.
You actually sing as well, the singer Mikes, if you fucking sing it. He'll be playing buttons to sing. But there is a game called Rocksmith where you plug in your guitar and play it. I mean, that's really cool.
It works really well. Yeah. But then you use playing fucking guitar and you're just, like, yeah. Well, yeah.
That'll be our first switch on it. You set on switch. on there. What's it called?
It's called Eric Smith. What's it called? Rock Snake. Do you want to play a new Eric Smith?
Yeah. I'll sing for you John. Don't worry. No, I paid what's that?
I'd get that donkey. Remember that donkey country? You'd seen pain. It's all smashed up and made me grubby.
I played that boy in the background. Sweet. That's fair enough. I mean, I'd be better.
That was grubby as fuck as well. And on his floor kicked around coming into shit. What's it been? Thanks for that.
John, that was a good report mate. It lightened us a little bit. Gave us a little bit of hope. It was hot for the press.
We should have said break and news at Star, shouldn't we? We'll do it next time anyway. Break and news. You've got some break and news everyone.
Matt, you're going to break down. What are you going to break down now? You're going to do the marbles, X ors mate. You want to have a chat about that?
Let's talk about that. I've been meaning to text you and ask about comic recommendations. I guess this is the list for that. The X-Men came in and he's the whole X-Men franchise.
It's hard to be boo-bboo out of the same time. You don't really need to know a lot about their history. They sell their own fucking mutin nation. They live in on Krakowa.
They're just all the mutants who can live there. Everyone's welcome. They're like, whether you were a good guy or a bad guy or whatever the fuck. They've got a pub on the island.
Everyone's mates. The only one who got fucked over was Sabertooth. They said they set down some laws. They're like, you can't kill the humans.
They're free laws. You've got to bang. You've got to make more mutants. They've got our sex and they've not hurt the humans.
They've got to kill people. They said, I've lived by that rule. Yeah, they're only going to take that. They're going to save it too for apparently he did kill someone.
He got to the island. He didn't want any sex to be like that. No, he's not banging anyone. Fuckin' ate a lot of ya.
The killing, we're going to let that slide. But not wanted to bang him because Xavier was there. He was all ready. He was like, all right, we're waiting for Sabertooth.
We're not going to make a baby, Xavier. That's what I'm trying to explain to. Even if we have sex, which I don't want to. We didn't make a baby.
We must try. Unfortunately he got sucked into Krakowa and just held there. He's inside Krakowa and I was rent seen in for a while. But essentially everyone else is there.
You're apocalypse. I'm now sinister. It's an uneasy alliance, not the governments of the world. They're all there working together.
I mean, I'd start reading that. The comics are coming out in the trade paperbacks. They're essentially, because the game of the X-Men, they're like, what? Fucking 10 different comics they got coming out at one time.
Trying to get them in singles is a nightmare, man. But if you get the Dawn of X trade paperbacks, they collect it as the comics come out. It's not one straight. It's not one to six.
I'll be like, episode one of X-Men, episode one of X-caliber, episode one of New Mutants. It's good and bad in the sense that you might get one that you're not really interested in. But I could probably have one's a good. But at least you can keep up with the story.
And Hickman's only doing X-Men, but once he's got to the first crossover, which is like, ten of swords, and he's pretty much like written through that. He's sort of written the whole thing and it's just distributed across the different titles. But I mean, it's been all right. I mean, if you want the X-Men, anyone like something...
I know, it's all a reminder to the comic to read of your youth, but it's got a bit of a Hickman sort of flair to it. It's quite good. But essentially, like, no one can die either. Oh, that's the thing now.
I think he's realised it. Like, within comics, it's pointless anyway. If someone dies, you know, they're fucking coming. No one stays dead.
So we've now, we can clone anyone now. We've got these five fucking mutants who work together. They can clone any new one. Xavier can give an MM who's back from the point they died.
So essentially, if anyone dies, he just fucking brings them straight back again. So it'd be like, we know that's going to happen anyway. So I'm like, right, into a fucking story. Because if anyone ever dies in the comic, you'll be like, ugh, anyway.
Yeah. I'm trying to think, like, going back in time, who, like, who... You know, it's probably in a couple of deaths back in the day. The only one that I could think of would probably be Barry Allen Flash.
Because he died, he died in, like, Christ of the Internet of Earth, and he didn't come back into final crisis. And that must be like, I don't know how many years it is. That's probably at least 20 years. Yeah, yeah, because, like, I had all the deck of Wolverine comics.
Oh, yeah. In Joy, you know, in Joy Thurmond, I liked the route that they were kind of going off. Well, they tried to go off in just to kind of give a little push to all these other characters that, you know, can use his mantle, if you will, but just in a different direction. But we fucking knew.
And they held it for a couple of years. You know, for a couple of years, you know, give X23 the female will be a good push. You know, they kind of tried a couple of different areas. They had a clone of him as well in one of the Weapon X program comics as well.
And he held my logo. Which was, yeah, I mean, they got, yeah, and the good thing about old man Logan kind of set them up going into, you know, when they went into secret wars, you know, it was already kind of established. So it was kind of, although that was probably a year after or so, something like that, at least it was on the tippy tongue. You know, you kind of, you were kind of warmed up to him.
You didn't have to read a classic old man Logan to have known it. But even that, you know, it was a big Wolverine fan. I was, as soon as it happened, I was up past the mantle, just get the smooth the mantle and keep him dead for a while. But it just, it's Wolverine, you know, you can't, you got to, you got to make too much money out of him to just keep him dead.
So you know, like you're saying, it's pointless. It's absolutely pointless to let him. Yeah, you know, there's no, you know, there's no emotional impact in that, like, X-Men, especially, there's no emotional impact in any X-Men death. Because you sense, you know, they're coming back.
That's some point they're coming back. Have they ever actually killed anyone off and they've just not come back? Anyone of significance? No, but that's, I mean, that's the thing with like, this, this one now that he's doing, because there was a lot of, they didn't introduce a load of people in the night user were pretty shit.
Like, Maro, he was like, he's like a blue skin guy that had worms come out of his stomach. He sort of died and sort of disappeared. And they were like, well, because he just wasn't that popular. And there was a guy, I think he was called like, like, he's like a surf name.
It was even like a rip-tied or wave race or something. Yeah. And he had an Emanis sister. And I think one of them- Wave race 64.
Wave race 64, I think he was called. And his power was just like, I think he was a healer and a sister had wings, but they weren't, no one really liked them either. So if the character doesn't play out well, they'll kill him off. But the thing is like, he's open the playground up now so he can bring anyone back.
So a lot of the time, the pens is right in him. Like, if you want to write, as a writer, you can take any shit characters and you can make them good really, can you? I think so. I think the thing is now, you can sort of take in those like proper wack fucking 90s characters and sort of do a good fucking story with them now.
Well, it's kind of like how three cyclops. Yeah, my cyclops. The cyclops used to be, you know, the proper kind of humble white meat baby face sort of character. You know, good guy, just good guy.
That's all he was. And then when it was Uncanny X-Men, when he had the cross like kind of visor, I think he killed Xavier and he's like, you know, he turned heel proper asshole. And they're like, shit, this is interesting now. Cyclops, we actually like Cyclops now.
And the Phoenix Force went inside him and he turned into an even more dirty motherfucker. And it's like, shit, you know, when you let people creatively get in there and properly shake things up, you'll get gold like that. Because that was gold. I mean, they could have held up a five comics or six comics in a run.
And really, I think it's been an excicop, it's been a big thing. It's been a big thing, you know. It's been a big thing. He's making the soldier now.
He's just like, I think he's like the head of like the War Council sort of thing. So he's like the Supreme Soldier. And now he's been like, my role is just being a fucking guy that goes out and then sort of shout out. Like they've done it pretty well.
Yeah. They've done it pretty well. Yeah. And he's also been like a polyamorous relationship with him and Wolverine and Team Grey.
Yeah. I remember you saying about that. Yeah. Yeah.
So that's interesting. I think they've got their own little, I think on a moon they live. I've got their own little getaway. Who's big spoon?
Who's little spoon? I think Wolverine's a little spoon. Yeah. Yeah.
He's all in it. But yeah, I think there's those three. It just just makes them out each other. I think we'll win in Sock-Offs even giving each other a wink of it.
They've been there a lot of time together. Yeah. That's all in it. I mean, it's not about a God's job.
It's about a joke in that. Like, in Bang anything, wouldn't it? But like if you're a God, you're going to say, no, I'm not going to have sex with that first. I mean, he's having sex with anything.
I guess the same opposed to Wolverine. Like, if you've been in life for like, how long has he been in life for now? Like 800 years? Yeah.
I mean, it's hard to say. Because obviously you've fallen into the origins. Yeah, that isn't that old. But I'd say he's probably, you know...
I mean, he's been through like fucking all the wars, any of the people who could fight. Yeah. He's born in Canada and he's born in Canada. And he's born in Canada in the world of fucking 800s.
Yeah. I mean, a few hundred years. Yeah. I mean, he's been like two hundred years.
And I think I've found a lot of women. I think. But I'm not going to say a bit cocks like. You're not going to bang that because you're basically...
I try that every single year. I'm not going to bang that. I mean, I'm not. I mean, more.
If you've got the time. You've got the time. You've got the time in your hands. Yeah.
You know, it's just like anything. You could have it be a craftman, you know, like a carpenter. If you're a carpenter for 50 years, they're a baby. You're a wallet, isn't it?
Yeah. But would you be a carpenter for 300 years? No, you wouldn't. You'd be in pottery or something.
Yeah. You don't want to tell yourself down. You don't want to be like, oh, yeah. So if you were in a cubicle, having a poo, and then something would have slide into the whole next, you know, from the next cubicle.
And you've been around for 800 years, mate. You've never seen him before. All right. I'm having a poo.
I didn't realize this when I came in. I honestly didn't know this. I have come in for a poo. I do apologize.
I've probably spoken to the mood. I do want to finish this off and finish my book, if I want to say. Give me an unpopping number for whom. I'll give you a call when I'm done.
And, you know, if you want to take it. So, yes, I mean, if you are interested in picking up a stage of some of those comments, like I say, I mean, obviously, if you're going to go for your comments, go to your local independent comments, if you've got one because you've got to support those guys in this day and age. Don't fucking go to Amazon because everyone's a ripple fucking cunt. I mean, if you're in the UK, I'd say again, put a six-seature.
They're cheap. They got good packaging and also speedy hen. Again, they're pretty good. But they're packing his noise.
Good as books, et cetera. They're a lot cheaper. Just avoid fucking Amazon. What about for the business?
They just want to give me a fucking space like, well, what is it? What is it fucking Amazon? Moving on. Let's move over.
Let's move over to Buckville. Let's hear about Buckville's pro skater. This is a segment that we've just come up with today. You've just recently met L.
TJ Rogers, anyway. Skated with TJ Rogers down the local. So what's the crack? What's the story?
Well, basically, I obviously follow TJ on Instagram, keeping up with him. He lives in California, but yeah, he went back to where he's from on the east coast of Canada, in Ontario. He was skating with some of his little close tight crew, I guess, two or three of the guys. He was travelling across Canada to the west coast all the way to Vancouver, hitting spots on the way, starting where he grew up.
I saw him getting closer and closer to Calgary. Getting a little bit excited to tell myself, yeah, I might have to go to Calgary. There's a couple of big famous parks there, one of them being Millennium. And he went there.
So I was like, oh, fuck, I think I've missed my chance on that one. Because it was during the week when I was at work. And I thought, I know he's going to come to my local just because it's quite a new park in Banff National Park. It's just got a nuts view.
It's pretty fun. So I thought he was going to come down. And he was heading out there. I saw it on his Instagram.
He was on a Sunday. I fucking dropped everything I was doing and just headed straight down to the park. It was a Sunday. It was pretty quiet.
There's probably about five to ten other people there, all skaters who were just as hyped as I was to see a Canadian legend. Lay it down. And it was fucking awesome. He's killing it.
I do want to know most of all how he is killing it. But how was he as an old boy mate? When you first approached him, what ever was he? How was he?
A lot of the time when you meet people who are fairly famous or well known, you hope that there is cool as your vision to be. So I got there. He was skating around. He was being pretty open and happy.
He had his own little bit of music playing in the background. And he was just being in the skate park home. He spoke to him first, however. He was tapping everyone.
He was big and everyone up. He was having a good time pushing out the good vibes, which was really nice. One of the times I was getting my little compliment on one of these tricks and he instantly gave it the thanks. But he was like, hey, what's your name?
My name's my name's Bert Bertle. And he said, nice to meet you. I'm TJ. Give me the knuckles.
And that's nice. Sometimes it can be a bit intimidating. You don't want to push up on someone too much as well. You want to give them their space.
It was nice mate. He was fucking a top boy. Anyway, then. I could genuinely boy.
That's awesome. Like you're saying, if he's giving you a little trick and he's giving you a little classic. If you don't know in a skateboard universe, you give someone a little ball tap. Just like if you're playing pool or something, you tap the table.
Someone's done a good trick. Give someone a nod. Just a bit of acknowledgement. You don't have to go overboard.
But it's just a good etiquette to say, keep your vibes up. Because again, at a skate park, there's so many skatebugs. The UK is probably the worst place for it. Everyone keeps, you know, you skate south bank.
You skate some days, you'll get people that are going to tap the ball to you. But most people are trying to just keep an image up. They don't actually give a fuck about anyone else. They just want to keep the owners on them.
They want everyone to look at them. Whereas this motherfucker sounds like he's, obviously he's, if you don't know TJ Roger, go and check him out because he is. He's one of the skaters on the planet that is still keeping skateboarding looking like skateboard should look in 2021. Am I right?
I mean, he's one of the skaters you, but he's still, you know, he's in that John Shanahan kind of, you know, Kelly Hart. Just the, he looks like a skateboarder still and his switch tray is probably the fucking best on the planet. But let's talk about switch tray, mate. Did he hit a switch tray down down your local?
