#71: Fentanyl(s)

from The Dr. Junkie Show · host Benjamin Boyce

As always, the Dr. Junkie Show does not provide medical advice. In this episode I discuss fentanyl(s) and why they are causing so many problems culturally right now, 100 years into a war on drugs. Fentanyl and its relatives (remifentanil, etc.) are not the problem. The war on drugs is the problem. Doctors have been using fentanyl(s) in hospital settings for more than 50 years, and they provide a number of benefits which make them preferable to other opioids in all sorts of procedures. I also explain why fentanyl(s) get us so much higher than heroin and morphine, why they are so dangerous when laced with other drugs, and how we can fix the current problem with overdose. Support the show
